Principal`s Bulletin September 24, 2015
Principal’s Bulletin September 24, 2015 FROM THE PRINCIPAL It’s SJB Fall Festival Weekend! This is a wonderful time and event for us to gather together. Please join us for exciting rides and games, excellent food, and great friends beginning Friday, September 25th @ 5pm. Come and meet other SJB families on Saturday, September 26th near the Dunk Tank after the 4:30pm Mass and stay for the GB Leighton concert. Remember that you (or your students) may purchase advanced ride tickets during lunch Friday in the school cafeteria. In Art, Miss Higgins is working on some projects for the students which should be fun and new for them. Students will be learning principles of two-dimensional art forms such as drawing and painting, as well as threedimensional arts such as sculpture and pottery. She will bring in ideas from multi-cultural art, and art history, and also from subjects related to the student’s regular academic classes to teach the students about art and the artistic process. Finally, as you may know Pope Francis is here! He has been traveling the East coast making his way to the World Meeting of Families. He has met with our President, talked to Congress, and canonized Junipero Serra, founder of the California missions at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (a stop on our 8th Grade DC trip) in Washington D.C. This weekend, Pope Francis will be in Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families and two people from SJB will be going to see him. Look for a recap on of this visit from one of our students next week. Please click the following link for more information about his visit: http://www.archspm.org/archspm_news/watch-online-usccbs-livecoverage-of-pope-francis-visit-to-u-s/ Our 1st grade students have been learning about Pope Francis this week. They have talked about his life before he became a priest and they’ve watched videos of his U.S. visit including when the 4 Catholic School students met him in DC. Have a wonderful weekend and see you at the Fall Fest! Ms. Ann Laird, Principal UPCOMING EVENTS Parish Fall Fest Sept. 25-27 School Pictures, Gr.
