FROM THE PRINCIPAL . . .
Jesus Redeems Us
Adam
Kirsch
I have to admit that I am somewhat of a penny-pincher. I am cheap. I am frugal. Sometimes I
get chastised for it by those closest to me, but it does not bother me. However, I also often
forget to use the coupons I have saved or the rebates that are available for something I have
purchased. My use of effort and energy to try and save money results in no savings. My best
intentions remain unfulfilled.
The theme for the week is redemption – the action of gaining possession of something in
exchange for payment. This week we meditate on and celebrate the redemptive act that was
carried out by our Savior Jesus Christ. The payment for this transaction was not monetary, but
paid for by His own blood. Through that sacrifice, we now belong to Him. He takes possession
of us.
As great as my intentions to save money are, sometimes it just doesn’t happen. How great is it
that we have a God that never fails on his intentions? His plan from the very beginning was to
send a Savior for his people. He doesn’t discount us, but rather paid top price for our souls.
The value of our lives is worth everything to him.
In humility, we now have the opportunity to worship our God who requires nothing out of us.
He has already done all the work that needed to be done. Through His redemption we have
nothing to prove, but everything to give back. We are the ones that ultimately receive the
reward. He has purchased us, but gives it all back directly to us. We live our lives in the
knowledge of His amazing mercy and action of the cross, trust in his unfailing promises, and
belief in the power and love of Jesus Christ.

Director of New
Student and
Alumni Relations
FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE. .
Greetings,
We are off to a great start this year! Staff and visitors alike continue to comment
about the exceptional behavior of our student body; so, let’s keep up the good work!
Our new ‘out-of-sight and out-of-mind’ cell phone policy is working tremendously
well. As a reminder, students are not permitted to have their phones on them during
the school day for any reason unless approved by a school administrator. As we
begin following through on this change, we have noticed other area schools also
turning to ZERO tolerance phone policies. These are great steps toward improving
the learning environment!
Now is also a great time to remind our teachers, staff, parents, and students about
some of our policies regarding tardiness! Tardiness remains a leading factor for job
termination in the United States and as such, we take punctuality very seriously at
Milwaukee Lutheran. Students must be on time to class, no exceptions; this also
means on time for the start of the school day. Here are a few reminders:
-
Students must arrive to school and be in our building by 7:45am to allow
enough time to get to their locker and then to their first hour class.
Students have 4 minutes to get between classes.
Disciplinary measures are taken on a student’s 4th tardy to school and on a
10th tardy to class.
No excuses!
I look forward to watching our young people grow as the year continues. As always,
please email me or call with any questions regarding dress code, policies, or
procedures!

The 1 image you choose to be included in the yearbook can be turned in by emailing the JPEG
image to Mrs. Janousky at rjanousky@milwaukeelutheran.org or by giving her a CD with your
picture choice on it by the September 16 deadline. If you turn in a CD, please make a special note
on it if you want it returned.
Please note that if you do not turn in a senior picture to Mrs. Janousky by the September 16
deadline, the yearbook staff will use your MLHS Student ID as your photo in the yearbook.
If you have further questions, please contact Mrs. Janousky at rjanousky@milwaukeelutheran.org
ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK NOW . . . EARLY BIRD SPECIAL AND A SALE ON
PERSONALIZED ICONS GOING ON NOW: It is a great time to order the ALL COLOR 2017
YEARBOOK! Orders for the yearbook will now be taken only online by visiting
www.jostensyearbooks.com!!! There are multiple reasons why you should buy the yearbook now.
The first is you will receive the early bird price of $60 for the yearbook if purchase before October
31st. After that date, all books will cost $65. The second reason is that you can take advantage of
a special sale going on through Jostens right now. If you place your order for a yearbook that
includes personalization, you will receive 4 free icons. Finally, you can choose to spread out your
payments for the yearbook. You will be able to make 3 equal payments over 3 months to help make
the book more affordable. So, make sure to buy your yearbook online early so you can cross that
off you list of things to do this school year and save some money in the process!!!
YEARBOOK ADS . . . ATTENTION PARENTS/GRANDPARENTS OF 2016-2017 SENIORS –
don’t forget to think about purchasing an ALL COLOR recognition ad for your Senior!!! Do you
want to honor your senior student by placing a “Recognition”ad in the yearbook this year? This is
a great way to communicate a long lasting message with words and/or pictures to your student in a
way that will not be forgotten. The yearbook staff can even create the ad for you if you prefer. If
this is something that you are interested in, please email or call Mrs. Janousky at
rjanousky@milwaukeelutheran.org. or 414-461-6000 ext. 271, for more details or to reserve your
space. The price of these ads range from $40 to $175 depending on the size ad you choose.
PICTURE RETAKE DAY: If you would like to retake your picture (or take it for the first time if
you did not take it yet) for the yearbook, VIP will be available on Friday, September 16th during
lunches. If you had your ID picture taken by Mrs. Radewahn in the attendance office, know that if
you do not come to retake day and get a picture taken by VIP, the picture that is used on your
current ID will be put into the yearbook.
