Then you can make a real difference for a charity this year! Giveacar is a UK based fundraising organisation that organises car donation for good causes in the UK, like The Aspinall Foundation. They provide a FREE service which is available throughout the UK, and can work with you hand-in-hand in the following ways: • They can arrange the collection of the vehicle at no cost to you; • Depending on its age and condition, they can either recycle it or send it to a salvage auction; • Scrap donations raise an average of £100 for the charity, with auction cars often raising much more. Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has raised over £950,000 for over 800 charities! There are all sorts of other items accepted, too numerous to list here but a few examples would be: Flat screen televisions, Mobility scooters, Ride-on lawnmowers, Tumble dryers, Mountain bikes, Computers and a silver plated saxophone! Giveacar have access to a great network of people who are willing to bid on a variety of objects, so if your item has value, we can get a donation. If it has no auction value, then it must have a high metal content so Giveacar can generate a scrap value. If it fails at auction and has no scrap value then no donation will be generated. To arrange donation of a car or another item to The Aspinall Foundation visit Giveacar or call 020 020 7736 7736 4242, quoting 4242, quoting The TheAspinall AspinallFoundation Foundationas asyour yourpreferred preferredcharity. charity. 5 Chapter #04 / Item ne doluptae 17 ONE MILE CHALLENGE ONE MILE CHALLENGE 2. By giving to us regularly from your pay, we automatically receive the tax you would have paid on the donation (your payroll department sort this out for us) and we do not need to claim Gift Aid back on this, so less admin for us, and no Direct Debit needed from you. How do I know that you have received my donation? Your donation is very important to us and we will write to thank you. We may also send you updates on our work if you have indicated that you are happy to receive these. You will know the deduction has started as it will appear on your payslip. Workplace Giving is also the only way for anyone paying 40% or 45% tax to give us all their tax on a donation automatically, so if you earn over £42,476 per year then this is the best way for you to support us tax effectively. Some examples are below: Is there a minimum or maximum amount I have to give? No, there’s no upper or lower limit, however, we recommend that you give at least £5 gross per month. You donate to us on a monthly basis We receive We receive We receive £5 £10 £15 £20 £.6.25 £12.50 £18.25 £25 £8.33 £16.67 £24.99 £33.32 £10 £20 £30 £40 (20% tax payer) (40% tax payer *) (45% tax payer*) * Please note that we have calculated that 40% higher rate tax band starts after earning £42,476 GROSS per year (including personal allowance of £7,475) and 45% super tax is applicable to those earning over £150,000 GROSS per year (this includes any and all personal allowances that might or might not be applicable) To give to us in this way, your Employer will need to operate a scheme, if you aren’t sure that they do, fill in the form anyway and we will let you know if they don’t and perhaps we can suggest to them that they introduce one. 10 “ How does Workplace Giving work? It’s very easy. You complete the online form and this comes through to us. We make sure that your company operates a scheme that allows you to give to us straight from your pay and we notify your payroll department that you would like to set up a regular donation to us in this way. If you can’t give to us through your pay, as your company does not operate the scheme (some still don’t!), then we will contact you to let you know. For more information, visit their website or alternatively call the helpline on 8381 2470. Click here to start your Workplace Giving. For020 more information, visit their website orown alternatively call the helpline on 020 8381 2470. Click here to start your own Workplace Giving. 8 GIVING TO US REGULARLY FROM YOUR PAY MEANS THAT WE CAN PLAN OUR PROJECTS WITH CONFIDENCE “ WORKPLACE GIVING Workplace Giving FAQ’s. How is Workplace Giving different to a Direct Debit (Gift Aid)? Workplace Giving is taken straight from your gross (pre-tax) pay so there is no need for us to claim any tax back through Gift Aid, which saves us additional admin costs. If you are a 40% or 50% taxpayer, Workplace Giving is the only way we can automatically receive all your tax on a donation. Can I stop giving when I want? Yes, by notifying your payroll department directly. What happens to my Workplace Giving deduction if I leave my job? Workplace Giving automatically stops when you leave your job, but we hope that you will continue to give to us at your next job, you will need to set this up again as your donation is not transferable. Is there an administration fee? Yes, but only a small one. Your employer will use a Payroll Giving Agent (like a charity bank) to distribute you and your colleagues monies. The Payroll Giving Agents are charities that need to make a small charge to cover their operating costs. Some employers pay this fee on your behalf so we receive your full donation. If your employer doesn’t pay the fee, the Payroll Giving Agent will deduct it from your donation before passing it on to us. This will be between a 2% and 4% charge. I pay tax at the higher rate of 40% or 50%, how does this affect tax relief on payroll donations? You will receive tax relief at the highest rate of tax you pay – each pound you give will generate £1.66 if you are 40% or £2 if you are 50% tax payer. Can I still give through my pension? Yes, if you receive an occupational pension and your pension provider deducts tax through the PAYE system, you are still eligible for the scheme. Simply ask your occupational pension provider to make a donation from your pension before tax has been deducted. 11 THE BIG CHARITY THE CHARITY WHIPBIG ROUND WHIP ROUND • Not all employees want to do a sponsored climb up Kilimanjaro • • • Few employees will be willing to get their legs waxed to raise money Not employees want dospare a sponsored climb up Kilimanjaro Not all every employee hasto the time to volunteer for charity work • • • Few employees bewould willing get their legs waxed to raise But almost all ofwill them betohappy to spare a few pence a money month to help a charity like The Aspinall Foundation Not every employee has the spare time to volunteer for charity work • But almost all of them would be happy to spare a few pence a month to help a charity like The Aspinall Foundation It’s Great because: Workplace Giving UK have launched a new initiative - The Big Charity Whip Round. •Great for demonstrating your csr credentials It’s Great because: Workplace Giving UK have launched It rounds down your participating employeesa new •Helps build morale and boost staff engagement initiative - The Big Charity Whip net pay to the nearest pound and the Round. remaining •High employee participation rates pennies are donated direct to the charity of •Great for demonstrating your csr credentials •Opportunity to match your employees donations Ittheir rounds down employees choice, weyour hopeparticipating this will be The Aspinall •Helps build morale and boost •Simple to set up and simple to staff join engagement net pay to the nearest pound and the remaining Foundation. •High employee participation rates •Low cost addition to your csr or benefit package pennies are donated direct to the charity of •Opportunity to match your employees donations their this Whip will beRound?
