Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station Welcome to the Kyushu National Museum! Opened in 2005, the Kyushu National Museum is one of only four national museums in Japan. The Museum was designed around the concept of "understanding the formation of Japanese culture from an Asian history perspective";and strives to be accessible, friendly and fun. Entrance Hall Interactive Exhibit Room "Ajippa" Free Lots of official merchandise Museum Shop An interactive exhibit space where guests can experience the histories and cultures of the countries in Asia and Europe with which Japan has had cultural exchange. The exhibit holds a wide array of costumes, household goods and toys from all sorts of countries, as well as craft and hands-on corners for Japanese paper-cutting and other activities. Free With a ceiling made of Japanese cedar wood thinned from forests all over Kyushu, the vast entrance is overwhelmingly beautiful. The bustling hall serves as the stage for various events. It sells a variety of original products such as picture books, exhibition catalogues, T-shirts and hand towels. A wide selection of hand towels with traditional Japanese patterns. Come and play Asian instruments! Fun for the whole family! The package features the Museum's collection "Ise Shudankan". Wasanbon candies are shaped like the flowers of the four seasons. Figurines of the "harano mushi" that appeared in the Museum's collection "Harikikigaki"! Eat & Relax Special Exhibition Gallery Special exhibitions are held four times a year, allowing visitors to enjoy remarkable works of art from both Japan and abroad. Experience the tea ceremony! Restaurant "Green House" Tea ceremonies are held at the tea ceremony house located on the grounds of the Museum. (Reservations required to participate or to view the tea house.) Cultural Exchange Exhibition Gallery The theme of this exhibition gallery is “Ocean Ways, Asian Paths.” The exhibition displays are constantly changed and this creates a fresh viewing experience for visitors. Visitors can freely view the history of cultural exchanges between Japan and the countries of Asia from their favorite historical periods and explore particular themes of interest to them.
