Your house, your community, the air you breathe, the sunshine and the water you drink! July is UV Safety Month and UV (ultraviolet rays) are the main cause of skin cancer. While taking advantage of the warm July weather, encourage family and friends to adopt good health habits such as wearing sunscreen and limiting time in the sun. Pittsburgh 365 Is a community initiative to encourage our neighbors to participate in available health services and programs throughout the year so that they can live their best life possible. Healthy communities do more than just exercise and eat right, they focus on all five areas of health. PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy For nearly 20 years the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for the people of Pittsburgh by restoring the park system to excellence. A private non-profit organization, the Parks Conservancy has raised more than $75 million for park improvements and works with the City of Pittsburgh in its four historic regional parks—Frick, Highland, Riverview and Schenley. The organization has been working extensively in the Hill District, helping residents to develop a Greenprint Plan that highlights public green spaces as part of BODY Physical and Nutritional Health neighborhood redevelopment MIND Mental and Emotional Health Cliffside Park, which the Parks SPIRIT Spiritual Health plans. The first of these capital projects is the renovation of Conservancy expects to be completed in the fall of 2014.
