more than two million visitors. Ample free time to walk around at your own pace and enjoy the city.
KEIO PLAZA HOTEL SAPPORO (2 Nights) (D)
Day 3: Thur, Feb 09 – SAPPORO. Morning at your leisure. Begin the day of touring with a visit to
Hokkaido Shrine, one of the most popular Japanese temples in Hokkaido. Originally called the

when the Meiji Emperor’s soul was enshrined there as well, the name was changed to Hokkaido
Shrine. Next visit the Sapporo Beer Brewery. Opened in 1987 in a former brewery from the Meiji
Period, the brewery museum chronicles the rich history of Sapporo Beer, which has been brewed
in Sapporo since 1877. Enjoy some refreshing beer tasting as well. Then check-out Tanuki Koji
Street, a ten block long outdoor shopping arcade located in the Odori Area of Sapporo. Spend a

mansions, the Aoyama Villa. Next we will stop at the Otaru Music Box Museum to make
our own music box. There will be time to stroll the nearby Otaru canal, which has numerous
shopping opportunities. The canal is also the location of the spectacular Otaru Snow

largest winter festival, after Sapporo’s snow festival, Asahikawa Winter Festival boasts one of the
biggest snow sculptures. Each year, one massive sculpture is made as a stage for music or other
performances. The giant sculpture has a different theme each year. What will the theme be this year?
Will it top the giant sculpture built in 1994 which made it into the book of Guinness World Records
as the largest snow construction ever built? Warm yourself with lunch (on own) at the Asahikawa
Ramen Village, where you’ll get to choose the type of ramen lunch you’ll have from one of eight
ramen shops. Asahikawa is known for their shoyu based broths, while Sapporo is known for its miso
based broths and Hakodate for its salt based broths. Which one will you try? After lunch, take a tour

box. There will be time to stroll the nearby Otaru canal, which has numerous shopping opportunities. The canal is also the location of the spectacular

Snow Festival was started in 1950, when high school students built a few snow statues
and it has since developed into a world-class event attracting more than two
million visitors. Ample free time to walk around at your own pace and enjoy the city.

Day 4: Sat, Feb 11 – SAPPORO. Morning at your leisure. Begin the day of touring with

Shinto deities in 1869. In 1964, when the Meiji Emperor’s soul was enshrined there as
well, the name was changed to Hokkaido Shrine. Next visit the Sapporo Beer Brewery.

the rich history of Sapporo Beer, which has been brewed in Sapporo since 1877.
Day 8: Wed, Feb 15 – SOUNKYO – LAKE AKAN. Begin the day with a visit to the nearby Ginga Ryusei Waterfall. The word “Ginga” means “the
Milky Way” or “Galaxy” and the word “Ryusei” means “a meteor or shooting star.” Upon arrival in Lake Akan, we will go ice fishing for

including Japan’s tallest building, The Landmark Tower. Afternoon is free. Explore the many shopping options around your hotel. For dinner, try the
famous ramen noodles of Yokohama. (B)
Day 11: Sat, Feb 18 – YOKOHAMA – KAWAZU – YOKOHAMA. After breakfast walk to Yokohama Train Station where we will board an “Odoriko
Limited Express Train” to Kawazu on the beautiful Izu Peninsula. As soon as you step off the train in Kawazu you are greeted by the aromas of
freshly roasted corn, grilled chicken and squid from the nearby food stalls. Enjoy a day at the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival. The

contrast of colors. Return to Yokohama by train. Walk to a local Izakaya Restaurant for our Farewell Dinner. (B, D)
Day 12: Sun, Feb 19 – YOKOHAMA – TOKYO – HONOLULU. After breakfast, embark on a full day of discovery! Ameyoko is a busy market street
along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno Stations. The name “Ameyoko” is a short form for “Ameya Yokocho” (candy store
alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, “Ame” also stands for “America”, because a lot of American products used to be available
there when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War Two. Today, various products such as clothes, bags,
cosmetics, fresh fish, dried food and spices are sold along Ameyoko. Today’s highlight will be a hands-on, Sushi-Making session,
which will yield your delicious lunch. Our last stop today is the Edo Tokyo Museum. This history museum does an excellent job laying out Tokyo’s
miraculous transformation from feudal city to modern capital, through city models, miniatures of real buildings, reproductions of old maps and
ukiyo-e (woodblock prints). Don’t miss the life-sized replica of the original Nihonbashi. Sharing your many memories with some old and many
new friends, depart Tokyo via ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS FLT #182 at 9:35 pm and arrive at 9:35 am on the same day. Aloha and Welcome Home! (B, L)

Overview: Okinawa is home to a unique culture that differs considerably from that
of mainland Japan. Until the islands were invaded by the Satsuma domain (present

from Japan, known as the Ryukyu Kingdom. After the invasion, the Ryukyu Kingdom
served as a tributary state to Japan, but continued to be governed by the royal family
from Shuri Castle. It was not until 1879, a few years after the Meiji Restoration, that the
kingdom was abolished and incorporated into Japan as Okinawa Prefecture.

Day 1: Wed, Jan 25 – HONOLULU. Depart Honolulu via ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS FLT #181 at 11:50 am.
Day 2: Thur, Jan 26 – NAHA. Arrive Naha, Okinawa at 9:25 pm via Narita Airport. After entry formalities,
travel by coach to the Naha hotel. JAL CITY NAHA HOTEL (2 Nights).
Day 3: Fri, Jan 27 – NAHA. After a sumptuous buffet breakfast at your hotel, we embark on a full day of
discovery! First stop this morning is Shuri Castle, the most important castle of the Ryukyu Kingdom, serving
both as the central government office and royal residence. The present buildings are beautiful reconstructions
from 1992. Shurijo is the only castle in Okinawa that has been reconstructed. Only ruins remain of all the other
castles. For lunch today, enjoy a soki soba teishoku. Okinawa soba topped with stewed soki (stewed port
spare ribs, with the cartilage still attached). The soki are prepared by first boiling to remove the excess fat, then
stewing in a mixture of awamori (to soften the meat), soy sauce, and sugar for three to four hours. After lunch,
visit the Himeyuri Peace Prayer Memorial Museum & Park. Near the end of World War II, Okinawa Honto
became the site of one of the war’s bloodiest battles, when the US forces invaded and occupied the island. An
estimated 200,000 people, including more than 100,000 civilians and 12,500 Americans were killed in the
battle, which lasted from April to June 1945. Then we will go to Mabuni Hill, an open space in the Okinawa
Senseki Quasi-National Park. It is the place where US forces and Japanese forces battled against each other
during World War II and has a tragic history. It has been established as an open space of peace, which includes
a monument entitled “Heiwa no Oka (hill of peace),” a war memorial, and the Peace Memorial Museum. Before
returning to the hotel, a shopping stop will be made at the AEON Mall. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Sat, Jan 28 – NAHA – ONNA VILLAGE – NAGO – MANZA BEACH. After breakfast, we head north
to Onna Village and spend the morning at Ryukyu Mura. It’s basically a traditional Okinawan village
with exhibits showcasing various festivals, crafts and foods. Enjoy the Parade that condenses a year’s worth
of festivals into one parade: Usudeku, Karate, Miruku, Kajimayah, Lion Dance, Juri, Mamidoma & Eisa. Don’t
miss the Habu Show. Watch the snake handler play with the Habu which is in a glass box next to its nemesis
– the mongoose. Colorful Ryukyu glass is one of those must have souvenirs when visiting Okinawa. Taking a
tour of the workshop allows visitors to see how the craftsmen create their art. Next we visit a Awamori (rice
liquor) Factory. Awamori is the signature alcoholic beverage of Okinawa and most the Ryukyu Islands. Learn
the unique process involved in making awamori. Then stop at the famous Nago Park to enjoy the cherry
blossoms. Best known for its cherry blossoms, Nago, Okinawa hosts the earliest Sakura (cherry blossoms) and
hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in Japan. Before heading to the hotel, we will make a scenic stop at Manzamo
Beach where you will see your hotel across the bay. This evening enjoy the Orchid Okinawa Buffet. Not only
will you enjoy a full variety of healthy Okinawan foods but you will also be entertained by the rhythm of
Day 5: Sun, Jan 29 – MANZA BEACH – MOTOBU PENINSULA – NAKIJIN VILLAGE – NAHA. After an incredible
breakfast buffet, enjoy a visit to the Churaumi Aquarium, widely considered Japan’s best aquarium. It is
the main attraction of the Ocean Expo Park on the former grounds of the 1975 International Ocean Expo. The
aquarium was completely redesigned and reopened in 2002. The highlight of a visit to the Churaumi Aquarium is
the massive Kuroshio Tank, one of the largest in the world. The tank takes its name from the warm Kuroshio
current which plays a large part in the variety of Okinawa’s of marine life. Next enjoy an Orion Beer Factory
Tour. Lunch is a special treat, Shima Dofu Teishoku, sashimi, tempura, shima dofu & goya champuru. And
finally today, before returning to Naha City, take in the Nakijin Gusuku Cherry Blossom Festival, which is
held at the Nakijin Castle ruins in the city of Nago, and offers visitors a chance to enjoy a floral view while
learning about the history of Okinawa. The castle – a former residence of the Ryukyu Kingdom governor during
the 14th century – is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. JAL CITY NAHA HOTEL (3 Nights) (B, L)
Day 6: Mon, Jan 30 – NAHA. Full day at your leisure. Take the opportunity to visit with family and friends or
enjoy shopping. (B)
Day 7: Tue, Jan 31 – NAHA. Start the day with a tour of Okinawa World, a theme park about Okinawa
culture. The park’s main attractions are a massive natural cave, a craft village and a snake museum. With a
total length of five kilometers, Gyokusendo Cave is the longest of the many caves in the south of Okinawa
Island and the second longest cave in the entire country. 850 meters of the cave are open to the public and
feature spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. The Kingdom Village is a nice replica of a traditional Ryukyu
village with workshops introducing the various traditional Okinawan crafts, such as weaving, dyeing, paper
making, pottery, sugar cane processing, the making of musical instruments and the more recently introduced
glass blowing. Hands-on experiences are offered at many of the workshops. Another exciting shopping stop at

experience of seeing wild monkeys bathing in a natural hot spring. The park is inhabited by Japanese Macaques,
which are also known as Snow Monkeys. The park has one man-made pool around which the monkeys
gather, located a few minutes’ walk from the park entrance. Now return to Tokyo via Shinkansen. This evening
enjoy an Izakaya dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 10: Fri, Feb 03 – TOKYO. Full Day at Leisure.
Day 11: Sat, Feb 04 – TOKYO – HONOLULU. After breakfast, embark on a full day of discovery! First visit the
Meiji Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deitified spirits of the Meiji Emperor and his wife. Today’s highlight
will be a hands-on sushi-making session, which will yield your delicious lunch. Then visit the visually stimulating
Harajuku Shopping District, which is the center of Japan’s most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles,
but also offers shopping for adults and some historic sights. Asakusa is next – the center of Tokyo’s shitamachi
(literally “low city”), one of Tokyo’s districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa’s
main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via
the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional local snacks
and tourist souvenirs for centuries. Finally spend some time in Ameyoko, a busy market street along the Yamanote

Aboard Sirena® • Escorted from Honolulu
November 24 – December 11, 2016 • Tour Manager: Janet Tanaka
Visit: Bahamas • Colombia • Costa Rica • Nicaragua • Guatemala • Mexico • California
Overview: Where Atlantic Meets Pacific — Your world travels are not complete until you have
traversed the engineering marvel known as the Panama Canal, where the spirit of innovation
lives on as the canal is expanded with a second set of larger locks. The canal is a gateway that
takes you from the sun-kissed white sands of the Bahamas to the lively resorts of the Pacific
Riviera. Along the way, you’ll be enchanted by the colonial charms of Colombia, the rainforests
of Costa Rica, the hidden treasures of Nicaragua and the beauty of Guatemala. From the Cuban
flavor of sleek Miami to the Hollywood chic of laid-back Los Angeles, you will find yourself
intrigued by each fascinating port of call.
Sirena Overview: Elegantly Charming — In March 2016, Sirena underwent a 35-day,
$40 million refurbishment in Marseille, France to elevate the ship to the Oceania Cruises’
standard of elegance. Drawing on the recent transformation of Nautica as inspiration, she
will feature restaurants you’ve come to cherish, along with more recent additions to the fleet
such as Baristas and the cook-to-order grill at Terrace Café. Sirena will also introduce two
exquisitely reimagined restaurants.
Suites & Staterooms: The Luxury of Space — The generous dimensions of our suites and
staterooms afford the ultimate in luxury. Interiors are decorated with traditional hardwoods,
rich fabrics, fine furnishings and original art. A fashionable color palette blends sea, sky and
comforting earth tones to create a soothing environment. Plump the goose-down pillows of
the Prestige Tranquility Bed, an Oceania Cruises exclusive, and relax in bed while reading the
latest bestseller. Stretch out on the plush couch and watch live news broadcasts or the latest
Hollywood blockbuster on the flat-screen television. Relax on the private teak veranda, a
feature of the vast majority of accommodations.
