Pennsylvania, where we’ve taken
the luxury vacation experience to
unparalleled levels.
My journey began in 1987, when my father Joseph Hardy,
purchased the Nemacolin property. Our vision was
to create a world-class resort unlike any other; to
create a getaway designed for couples, families and
corporate gatherings – even bigger – a “something for
everyone” destination.
Many years later, we are proud to offer several lodging
options including the luxurious AAA Five-Diamond
Falling Rock, a restaurant collection which includes the
impressive Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five-Diamond Lautrec,
an award-winning spa and wellness collection and worldclass golf. We are equally proud of our 70+ activities,
unexpected amenities and unparalleled customer service.

HISTORY
The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort property has a
long history dating back to 1740, when a rugged trail
was carved through the Laurel Highlands between
what is now Cumberland, Maryland and Brownsville,
Pennsylvania. The trailblazer was native Delaware Indian,
Chief Nemacolin. Assisted by frontiersman, Thomas
Cresap, the trail was the most direct route from east to
west. Later expanded by Colonel George Washington and
General Edward Braddock during the French and Indian
War, the trail eventually became known as the National
Highway by Congress in the mid-1800s. Today, that road
is called Route 40, the major mountain artery where
Nemacolin now sits.
By the early 1900s, the Laurel Highlands became a
popular and fashionable retreat for wealthy Pittsburgh
industrialists and merchants. At the same time vacation
retreats, such as the Kaufmann family’s Frank Lloyd Wright
designed Fallingwater® were being built, Nemacolin was
also being minimally developed. During the 1930s, lots
were established and offered for sale as summer homes
and hunting retreats.

In 1949, Pittsburgh industrialist, Willard F. Rockwell of
Rockwell International, purchased 60 acres and in 1968,
he established a private game reserve on what is now
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. This property was named
Nemacolin Trail Hunting Reserves. The Rockwells invited
friends and business associates to hunt and fish the
3,500-acre reserve, populated by silver fox, bear and
white-tailed deer. A hunting lodge was constructed in
1968, designed by Rockwell’s friend and former college
roommate, C.W. Balling, of nearby Fairchance, PA.
The property was sold in the mid-1970s to Cordelia Scaife
May, and became an exclusive conference center. In
1981, the property returned to the Rockwell Family when
Willard’s grandson, S. Kent Rockwell, purchased
the conference center and opened it to the public.
In 1987, 550 acres of the Nemacolin property went up
for auction. Joseph A. Hardy, III, Founder of 84 Lumber
Company, successfully purchased the acreage in hopes
that a few acres of woodlands would hold a lake or stream
for his daughter Maggie, who loved to fish.
Hardy and his daughter promptly set about transforming
the property into its present state, a 2,000 acre world-class
resort, and recipient of the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide
and American Automobile Association (AAA) awards. In
2002, Hardy transferred full ownership of the resort to his
daughter, Maggie, who still serves as President and Owner,
and continues to grow the resort.

CHATEAU LAFAYETTE
Experience the grandeur of our iconic 124-room Chateau
Lafayette. Inspired by the Ritz in Paris, the Chateau
Lafayette features luxury with classic European flair.
Elegant guestrooms include vaulted ceilings, Waterford
crystal chandeliers and deep-sinking jetted tubs. Choose
from a king or two queen accommodations, while suites
feature an additional sitting area. For added exclusivity, the
Chateau Lafayette’s 5th Floor Club Level features private
access and personal butler service. The Club Level also
offers an exclusive hospitality lounge serving continental
breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails daily.
THE LODGE
The Lodge is not only a part of Nemacolin’s history, but
also the rich story of the property. It has evolved from a
26-room vacation home to a warm, comfortable 97-room
lodging accommodation offering value, and centered
around family and convenience. Tastefully appointed room
accommodations offer one king or two double bed options.

TOWNHOMES
Nemacolin’s Maple Townhomes and Links Townhomes are
ideal for families or groups of friends who choose a more
secluded setting for their Nemacolin stay. Each Townhome
offers two bedrooms, complete with a fully functional
kitchen and dining area, two-and-a-half baths, a living
room, deck, parking, plus standard guestroom features
and amenities.
VACATION HOMES
Featuring seven distinct options, Nemacolin’s Vacation
Homes represent a diverse mix of lodging opportunities.
Providing the space and privacy of your own home with
full room and bell service, the Resort’s Vacation Homes
are ideal for families or groups that prefer a more secluded
setting, yet still want to take advantage of the Resort’s
many amenities. Private butler service is also available in
select homes for an additional charge.

MYSTIC ROCK
Mystic Rock has challenged some of the best players in
the world, such as John Daly, Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods
and Phil Mickelson. Designed by the legendary Pete
Dye, Mystic Rock plays 7,526 yards from the tips. With
strategically placed bunkers, boulders and water hazards,
a round of golf on Nemacolin’s prestigious PGA Tourtested Mystic Rock is unlike any other, and highlights
the natural beauty of the region. A par-72 course, with a
77 rating and a 149 slope from the championship tees,
Mystic Rock has garnered top honors including “#1 Best
Courses You Can Play In Pennsylvania” by Golfweek, and
“Top 100 Courses in America” by Golf Digest.

golf course is having two. Nemacolin is once again
partnering with the legendary designer, Pete Dye, to bring
an incredible new golf course experience to our luxury
resort. With one of Pete Dye’s most challenging designs

courses in the country, setting the stage for Nemacolin to

THE NEMACOLIN GOLF ACADEMY
The Nemacolin Golf Academy, recognized as a Top 50
Public Range by Golf Range Magazine, offers a unique
blend of golf instruction, club fitting and technology
designed exclusively to help your game.
The Nemacolin Golf Academy features PGA Professional
Eric Johnson, a Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher since
2011, he is the only Top 100 Teacher in the Tri-State
area and was also recognized by Golf Digest as a
Top 40 Under 40 Teacher.
Golf is about consistency and the TrackMan® Golf Radar
Solution provides our professional instructors with a stateof-the-art diagnostic tool that will measure everything
in your swing as well as everything about the flight of
your golf ball. From club and ball speed, distance, launch
angles, spin rate, to swing plane, angle of attack, swing
path and club face delivery, there is no aspect of your
game or equipment we will not address.
CADDIE PROGRAM
The Nemacolin Caddie Program is in place to guide golfers
through the course, read the greens, help locate stray shots
and provide general maintenance of both players’ clubs
and the golf course itself, making the golf experience an
exceptional one. Caddies are included in Mystic Rock’s
greens fee and play a vital part of the golf experience.

The Woodlands Spa is a haven of peace and tranquility;
one we are sure will be an intoxicating retreat from the
stresses of life. Here, we surround you with lush ambiance
and innovative therapies. Based on the principles of
Feng Shui and designed by Clodagh, our treatments
offer a soothing sanctuary for the mind, body and soul.
With 40 well-appointed treatment rooms, including four
couple’s rooms, the Woodlands Spa is home to nearly 100
rejuvenating treatments and services. Choose from an
array of massages, body scrubs and wraps, hydrotherapies,
bathing rituals, facials, manicures and pedicures. Signature
services include our Water Path treatment, the Woodlands
Hot Stone Shirodhara, which is only performed at five spas
nationwide, and the Dream Catcher, a blend of Native
American healing techniques and the Hawaiian Lomi
Lomi massage.
THE HOLISTIC HEALING CENTER
The Holistic Healing Center focuses on integrative

Housing authentic lithographs of Post-Impressionist artist,
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, this Forbes Five-Star and AAA FiveDiamond restaurant features European style cuisine made
from the finest ingredients found locally and internationally.
The menu is a prix-fixe format in which guests can create
their own four-course menu or dine from the seven-course
Chef’s Tasting menu. Á la carte dining is not available.
To properly complement your experience, our resident
sommelier is available to pair flights of wine for the menu
of your choosing and a selection of artisanal cheeses,
loose-leaf tea service and mignardises are offered to
heighten the experience.

Nestled inside Nemacolin’s Falling Rock boutique hotel,
Aqueous takes the upscale steakhouse concept to an
entirely new level. Proudly offering refined cuisine and
stylish service, the menu features American cuisine using
the finest domestic ingredients with a strong emphasis
on local product and seasonal cooking. Aqueous differs
from traditional “steakhouses” due to its strong in-house
dry aging and on-site cutting program. In addition to our
prime, dry aged and certified angus selections, you will
have the opportunity to indulge in artistic preparations of
seafood, poultry and unique pastry creations.
AUTUMN
Autumn restaurant at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
features dining inspired by local ingredients tied to the
Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountain region. The menu
establishes a focus on Appalachian style cuisine and
supports local farms by purchasing their produce, dairy
and proteins, often supplying farm-to-table ingredients
within one day.

THE TAVERN
Fashioned after a traditional English pub, The Tavern offers
a casual atmosphere with pub-style fare. Their casual
menu features flavors and favorites seen on typical
“pub” menus. Enjoy the 8,500-gallon free-standing
saltwater aquarium located just outside the restaurant.
While there, play a game of billiards on The Tavern’s
antique Brunswick pool tables. Open year-round, The
Tavern serves lunch and dinner daily.
PJ’S ICE CREAM & PIZZA PARLOR
Kids from ages 1 to 91 can enjoy pizza and old-fashioned
ice cream while sitting in a vintage automobile booth.
PJ’s, Nemacolin’s 1950’s style ice cream and pizza parlor,
features old fashioned ice cream, floats, banana splits and

SUNSET TERRACE
Overlooking the 18th hole of the PGA Tour-tested,
Pete Dye designed Mystic Rock golf course and Falling
Rock’s Infinity Pool, enjoy outdoor dining at Sunset
Terrace. Featuring authentic flavors and specializing in an
upscale, yet comfortable menu, the Sunset Terrace offers

FIELD CLUB
Woven throughout 140-acres of woodlands, valleys and
pastures in the Allegheny Mountains, the Nemacolin Field
Club complex houses one of the nation’s top sporting
clays facilities and is the gateway to some of the finest
fishing streams and creeks in the eastern United States.
THE SHOOTING ACADEMY
Featuring 35 sporting clay stations spread across two
courses, towers and two five-stand pavilions, the
course can be tailored to challenge everyone from the
most seasoned wing shooter to the novice shooter.
We invite you to spend an hour or afternoon on one
of our courses. First time shooters are guaranteed to
break targets with the help of our National Sporting
Clays Association (NSCA) certified instructors. You will
be amazed at how much your confidence grows with
each shot. With private lessons for both beginners and
advanced shooters, clay shooting is a sport for the
whole family.

ORVIS® FLY FISHING
For anglers of any skill level, the Orvis® Endorsed Fly
Fishing Lodge at the Nemacolin Field Club is in a class by
itself. Anglers can choose from a number of Pennsylvania
waters, including the Youghiogheny River. Other options
include Meadow Run, Dunbar Creek and Beaver Creek,
where browns, brookies and rainbow trout swim in
numbers. From beginners to experienced anglers, your
experience here will be one of a lifetime!
GUIDED HUNTS
Our newest Field Club amenity, Guided Turkey Hunts, is
now available during the spring. Enjoy a fully-guided hunt
on private property.
UPLAND BIRD HUNTS
Our Upland Bird Hunt’s experienced and professional
guides accompany hunters of any skill level and a hunt
dog on 275-acres of private hunting ground located
off-property. The hunt begins at the Field Club with
transportation provided to the hunt location. The
Nemacolin Field Club abides by the standards of the
Pennsylvania Game Commission.
AIR RIFLE RANGE
Test your shooting skills at the Air Rifle Range with
stationary clay targets! Catered towards beginners
and children.

JEEP® OFF-ROAD DRIVING ACADEMY
What could be more electrifying than taking the wheel
of a Jeep® Rubicon? Perhaps it might be pushing that
Jeep® Rubicon through a series of muddy ponds, rocky
crossings, ruts, logs, steep climbs and tricky vertical
ledges. Our Academy is here to give you that chance.
With instruction on our challenging courses, drivers will
navigate terrain designed to test any skill level. Choose
from Instructional Trips or Ride-Alongs.
POOLS
PARADISE POOL
Enjoy the water, grab a lounge chair and watch the kids
have a great time on the waterslide. And now guests 21
years of age or older who are looking for a quieter poolside
experience can enjoy exclusive access to our new adult
pool, hot tub and bar area adjacent to Paradise Pool.
KIDZ POOL
The Kidz Pool is an indoor swim option that is open yearround. Just 3-feet deep throughout and 25-feet long, it’s a
great spot for rainy days and for smaller children.
ADVENTURE CENTER
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Adventure Center, located
at the Sundial Lodge, is the hub of outdoor activity,
adventure and recreation. From weekend warriors to
accomplished athletes, you could spend a few days alone
absorbing all the activities we have to offer, or you may just
want to add a day or two to your Nemacolin trip!

Explore the Resort on our many property trails. We have a
variety of mountain bikes and children’s bikes available to
rent. Kid trailers, comfort bikes and jogging strollers are

Sundial Lodge. Enjoy eight lanes of bowling and various
arcade games for all ages.
CLIMBING WALL
We challenge daredevils to conquer our 50-foot freestanding Climbing Wall. Don’t worry if you are a first-timer,
the three-sided wall tests beginners as well as advanced
climbers and is great for all fitness levels.
DISC GOLF
Disc Golf is one of those activities that is perfect for
families to enjoy together. It’s just like golf, except trade
your clubs for a frisbee.
FALLINGBROOK MINIATURE GOLF
Nemacolin’s beautiful 18-hole miniature golf course is a
staple amongst our Adventure Center amenities. Challenge
family and friends or your previous game!
FATBIRD CANOPY TOUR
Our Fatbird Canopy Tour ropes course offers some
exciting elements 40-feet off the ground, a Burma Bridge,
a stationary log, a swinging log and more. Plus, a zip down
the 3,000-foot Fatbird SuperFlyer is included!
FATBIRD SUPERFLYER
Birds of a feather… well they race together! Nemacolin’s
Fatbird SuperFlyer features over 3,000-feet of dueling
zip lines! Reach speeds of up to 60 mph as you soar
alongside a competing rider, high above the slopes at
Mystic Mountain.

HARDY GIRLS GYMNASIUM
This 8,400-square-foot Olympic caliber facility features
a variety of training equipment that would be used in
the development of future gymnast’s careers. Guests
of all ages may experience the facility at any skill level.
Gymnastic features include: foam pit, trampoline, two
balance beams, uneven bars, exercise spring floor, parallel
bars, adjustable training high bar, tumble track, vaulting
table, pommel horse, rings, numerous safety landing
mats and training aids, barrels and wedges.
LITTLE TYKES ROPES COURSE
A thrill for your little tyke. While Mom, Dad and the “big”
kids take to the Ropes Course, your little one can seek
fun of their own. The course includes four obstacles
and a 120-foot zip line.
PAINTBALL
Outdoor Combat Paintball The ultimate heart
pounding, adrenaline rushing experience. Our team
creates organized atmospheres in the wooded hills
for you to enjoy a game with the entire family.
Target Paintball An extreme-energy, action-packed
game. Target Paintball is available at Quick Draw Alley.
Accuracy is a must as you shoot stationary targets and
practice your sniper skills.
ROPES COURSE
The ultimate in suspended adventure, our elevated ropes
course will test your bravery with nine obstacles. Once
you have it mastered, an exhilarating 250-foot zip line
will send you flying through the air… and off the course.
There’s nothing like it!
TENNIS
Play on one of our four outdoor, lighted, deco-turf tennis
courts located just behind Heritage Court or the Indoor
Kidz Pool. Court rentals, tennis equipment and ball
machine rentals are also available.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Nemacolin is centered around the family experience and
our Children’s Programs offer more fun activities than
your children will likely have time for, with a kids pool,
arcade featuring ping-pong and games, plus access to
our tennis courts and much more.
BABYSITTING
If babysitting is needed, please contact a Nemacolin
Experience Agent to make arrangements. A 24-hour
advance notice is requested.
KIDZ KLUB
Our innovative club for kids ages 4 to 15 offers both full
and half days of supervised activity and entertainment.
Parents can choose to enroll their children in our Kidz
Klub programs for a more relaxed atmosphere utilizing
activities on the resort. They’ll learn… they’ll play… and,
most of all, they’ll never notice you’re not there!
KIDZ NIGHT OUT
Kidz Klub goes out on the town. Children ages
4 through 15 will enjoy an evening filled with crafts,
swimming, games, mini-golf and movies.
LITTLE TYKES
Kidz Klub for little ones. Our qualified staff will provide
children ages 6 weeks through 4 years with top-rate care
and education. As with Kidz Klub, Little Tykes can remain
with us for either half or full day programs.

WILDLIFE ACADEMY
The Wildlife Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
is dedicated to providing interactive entertainment and
live animal programs with an emphasis on education
and experience. It is all animals, all the time!
EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Tour the scenic beauty of the Pennsylvania Laurel
Highlands the way the first settlers did...on horseback.
The Backwoods Trail Ride begins at Nemacolin’s
Wildlife Adventure, home to 14 horses. Your guide will
then lead you throughout two-miles of wooded trails.
It’s fun for the whole family. Pony rides for the little
ones are also available.
JAMAICAN DOGSLEDDING
A wheeled cart pulled by Nemacolin’s very own dog
sled team will take you for a thrilling ride throughout the
property. The experience lasts approximately 45-minutes
and includes a kennel tour and ride.

LOUIE’S AFRICAN TRAIN RIDE
All aboard! Louie’s African Train Ride will get you up-close
to Nemacolin’s wildlife family. The tour will depart from
the Wildlife Academy and head out to the resort’s animal
enclosures where you will see bison, a hyena, tigers, lions,
red sheep and zebras!
NEMACOLIN’S WILDLIFE ADVENTURE
Nemacolin’s Wildlife Adventure is home to our smaller
exotic and domestic animals and provides an interactive
and educational experience for all. Experience an
educational journey as our knowledgeable staff escorts
you through a guided tour. Or make toys and treats for the
animals during an Enrichment Tour and then watch and
learn as they play with them. Many more amenities are
offered year-round.
SAFARI TOURS
The Nemacolin Safari Tour is unlike any other wildlife
experience! Travel to the outdoor habitats to get up-close
and personal with our wildlife animal family. Accompanied
by a Zookeeper, stop by Billy Goat Mountain to feed the
sheep and goats. Then get behind-the-scenes access to
our exotic animals including zebras, bears and lions. This
educational tour is fun for all ages.
WILDLIFE HABITATS
They are literally around every corner of the 2,000 acres
that make up Nemacolin. Hop in your car, on a bike or
walk the trails and visit with animals such as Rocky and
Sugar the black bears, and many more!
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s commitment to the care
and welfare of our Wildlife Academy is a top priority. The
Resort and its’ programs are in compliance with USDA
Guidelines. With the assistance of Dr. Jonathan Bergmann,
DVM and his skilled experience with exotic animals,
along with our trained and caring zookeeper associates,
Nemacolin believes in providing loving and knowledgeable
care to our animals.

SNOWSPORTS
MYSTIC MOUNTAIN
Treat yourself to a little Mystic Mountain magic at the
Sundial Lodge! Short lift lines, seven skier-friendly trails
and experienced instructors make for great family fun.
Our state-of-the-art snowmaking system blankets the
downhill slopes and trails. We also offer rental equipment
and our professional staff is always on hand to lend
instruction. From December to March, this winter
wonderland offers something for everyone. So gather the

The Yeti’s Lair Terrain Park offers an experience that
Mystic Mountain skiers and riders can navigate, while
learning the skills necessary to be able to successfully
master more advanced terrain parks. The park is located
on the left side of Mystic Mountain’s Grizzly Run.

WINTER DOG SLEDDING
For the ultimate in unexpected experiences, we invite you
to climb aboard one of our sleds. Our team of sled dogs
are raring to pull riders through the resort’s scenic acres of
wooded wonder. No need for snow either. During suitable
conditions, our dogs can also pull a four-wheeled Touri
