FACT:
A lot of material (music, movies,
and software) on P2P networks are purposely
infected with viruses or contain spyware
and/or malicious trojans.
FACT:
By participating in P2P networks, you can potentially
open up world-wide anonymous access to your personal data and
documents on your computer, which could result in indentity theft.
FACT:
Sharing copyrighted materials without permission
is illegal. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)
has undertaken a campaign of suing people for
downloading or uploading copyrighted material
without permission. Several IUP students have
litigation pending for sharing files without
permission.
