In the olden days, due to its strategic location, Gunung Jerai was once a guide for the seafarers and traders. The mountain is famous for its myth including Raja Bersiong, which was told to have founded a village at the foot of this mountain. It is also claimed that there is a rock resembling the shape of a ship somewhere at the peak of this mountain called the Batu Kapal, which was owned by Maharaja Merong Mahawangsa. The ship was said to have been cursed by Sang Kelembai when it tried to dock at the area. 14 Aside from the legendary myths, the mountain features lush plantation areas including the popular forests - hill dipterocarp forest and upper hill dipterocarp forest, suitable for all the nature lovers out there. EXIT 173 GURUN Ladang Anggur Tasik Beris EXIT 173 GURUN • 36KM Located in Sik, Tasik Beris is a man-made lake which was formed by the construction of Empangan Beris back in 2000. There are two grape farms : one located at the end stretch of Empangan Beris and the other at Sungai Senam. The farm is set up as an effort to transform Sik into an agro-tourism spot. The farm offers various types of grapes such as Black Grape, White Malaga and Losu Plite. The Tasik Beris Grape Farm is located approximately 34 minutes from Exit 173. 15 at Gurun RSA (South Bound).
