The Voorhees Ballet Theatre
Suzanne C. Steinbach started The
Voorhees Ballet Theatre in 1986, as
The Little Theatre Dance Troupe.
Since then it has grown into a preprofessional company that performs
two full-length ballets a year and
offers a four week Summer Intensive
Program.
Our purpose is to give students
performance and educational opportunities parallel to that of a professional ballet company.
Students who aspire to a career in
dance may audition to be part of the
Voorhees Ballet Theatre Danse
Ensemble. In addition to their regular
dance classes, performances in the
company ballets, and participation in
the summer intensive these dedicated students also perform at community events, take master classes and
are involved in fundraisers to benefit
the company. Dancers are placed in
the petite, junior or senior ensemble. Each level has its own set of
requirements and expectations.
Senior members may audition for
training programs with professional
companies. Alumni have trained with
American Ballet Theatre, Boston
Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet, Joffery Ballet
and Nashville Ballet, to name a few.
August marks the time of year
when we begin preparations for our
annual presentation of The
Nutcracker. 2015 will be our 29th
year bringing this holiday classic to
life! Want to join the fun? Auditions
are Monday, Aug. 22 at Lowe Dance
Studio for students and adults.
Performances will be held in the
Voorhees Middle School Theater on
Dec. 11-13 and tickets will be on sale
in October. Come find out what all
the hype is about!
Spring is another exciting time for
The Voorhees Ballet Theatre when
they bring Fairy Tale Classics to the
stage. Our repertoire includes productions such as, “Cinderella,”
“Hansel & Gretel,” “The Firebird”
and most recently, “Snow White.”
As part of our community outreach efforts we offer a number of
special programs. Girl Scout troops
can earn badges by attending our ballets and taking a behind the scenes
tour. Our dancers visit nursing
homes and to perform for and interact with the residents. They also perform and give demonstrations at
schools. We are happy to provide
performance tickets, free of charge,
to military families and community
organizations servicing under-privileged youth.

Ballet Theatre visit our website

Temple Beth Sholom
Since its start in 1990, Temple
Beth Sholom’s Eric B. Jacobs Early
Childhood Education Center has
been nationally recognized for providing an innovative and nurturing
program in a state of the art facility.
Our new infant and toddler rooms
offer warm, inviting atmospheres
where children feel safe and secure.
New spaces including additional and
newly renovated classrooms including a technology center, art center
and construction center, a large toddler sensory play area designed by
The Garden State Discovery
Museum and a Community
Enrichment Room complete with a
Smart TV and developmentallyappropriate ritual equipment, have
been thoughtfully designed to create
flexible, age-appropriate learning
environments to meet the needs of
our growing community.
Children thrive with a loving foundation in academic and Judaic studies
while fostering social and emotional
development. Students engage in
everyday experiences that build their
cultural and Jewish identity.
Through a partnership of parents,
highly qualified teachers and specialists, children grow to become confident and inquisitive learners.
We are proud that TBS’s Early
Childhood Education Center’s Day
Care Program is continuing to thrive
and grow exponentially with limited
spaces now available! To accommodate the needs of our families, full
day care options are available for
children ages six weeks through five
years, Monday–Friday; 6:45 a.m. to 6
p.m., with special provisions available
when Shabbat begins before 6pm in
the winter.
We are very excited this year to
provide transportation options for
our Kindergarten Enrichment program!
Enrollment in TBS’s Eric B. Jacobs
Early Childhood Education Center
includes synagogue membership.
The program was created to be a
“home away from home” for our
children to grow and be cared for by
childcare professionals and for our
families to be engaged in opportunities that being part of a synagogue
community provides. TBS families
grow together as they participate in
hands-on learning experiences that
immerse them in Jewish life and
develop strong relationships in our
community.
As our infants grow to become
toddlers and then preschoolers, our
children and their parents will easily
transition to the next level of learning and care in an individualized and
inclusive program at TBS. For more
information, please contact Ellen
Berju, director of the Eric B. Jacobs
Early Childhood Education Center,

Fifty-plus years in a nutshell
Fifty years ago was the beginning
of a dream come true for one of
South Jersey's most successful dance
directors, Ruth M. Lowe. Miss Ruth
stepped into a dance studio when
she was nine years old. She knew at
that very moment she would be a
dance teacher when she grew up.
She absorbed everything she could
from her dance teacher and mentor,
Mrs. Dorothea Riegert from The
Crystal School of Dance. In 1958 she
opened her school in her parents'
basement with five very eager students. A year and a half later the
school almost doubled in size and
Miss Ruth presented her first dance
recital at The Church of the Good
Shepherd, with nine students!
The next couple of years, the
school's location moved from base-
ment to basement, accommodating
growth until eventually renting a
room in a friend's home. The enrollment continued to increase and
required still a larger facility. Thus,
the location at 1207 BerlinHaddonfield Road was opened in
1966.
In addition to dance classes Lowe
Dance Studio offers numerous programs including Student Teaching,
Competition Team and Voorhees
Ballet
Theatre.
The
Lowe
Competition Team was formed in
the latter part of the '70s and is still
going strong today. Competitors
bring home performance awards,
scholarships, choreography awards,
just to name a few. Voorhees Ballet
Theatre is our in-house, pre-professional ballet company providing stu-
dents with performance and educational opportunities.
It's unimaginable as to how many
families have gone through the doors
of Lowe Dance Studio in the past 50
years! Multi-generations have experienced the joy of dance through the
guidance and nurture of Miss Ruth.
Upon her retirement in 2014, Miss
Ruth, passed the studio on to her
daughter Suzanne C. Steinbach who
has been an integral member of the
studio staff since 1980. Suzanne
looks forward to many more years
of success and growth for Lowe
Dance Studio!

Dr. Amy James and Associates
People are often scared of dental
offices. Whether it’s sounds or
sights that cause patients to be anxious, this is one office that puts those
feeling to rest! Dr. Amy James of Dr.
Amy James and Associates relays her
practice philosophy, “Our focus is
on individualized attention and
meticulous, state-of-the-art specialty
care in orthodontics. Our practice is
not volume oriented. We continue
to grow through recommendations
from enthusiastic patients and parents, and we are grateful for that
support. Our plan is to treat you so
well technically and personally that
you will become part of our practice
family.”
Additionally, Dr. James is enthusiastic about her passion for the field.
“I love my career as an orthodontist
because it’s a proactive specialty.
People seek treatment to make their
smile beautiful and/or make their
teeth fit together ideally. The outcome is always great and people feel
good about their investment. They
have better function and aesthetics.”
The evolution in orthodontic
technology has been truly exciting.
“Our goal,” says Dr. James “is to stay
on the cutting edge of technology.
Digital scans of the patient’s mouth
and Cad-Cam (computer aided
design-computer aided manufacturing) employ digital technology to
refine and enhance treatment
mechanics.
Also, there are now procedures
or devices like Propel and
AcceleDent to increase the rate of
tooth movement which can shorten
treatment time significantly.”
While the American Association
of Orthodontics recommends chil-
dren have an orthodontic screening
no later than age 7, children and
young adults aren’t the only ones
who benefit from orthodontics.
“More adults are opting for healthy,
aesthetic smiles.” Dr. James comments. “With the advent of invisible
braces like INVISALIGN and HARMONY (lingual braces or braces on
inside of the teeth), wearing braces
will not interfere with an adult
lifestyle. In fact, Dr. James and
Associates is the only provider in the
area specializing in lingual braces and
patients love it!
Dr. Amy James’ Haddonfield office
is conveniently located at 15 E. Euclid
Ave., Haddonfield. For more information regarding orthodontics or to

Camden County College offers evening alternatives
So often, as parents, we find ourselves responsible not only for our
children’s well-being, but also for
their entertainment. While snuggling
up and reading a few books, exploring the park, or playing an imaginative game with our children can be
extremely rewarding, it can also be
exhausting. For parents who are students, online classes allow them to
work from home, but can also present the challenge of managing their
classes with the needs of their children.
So what’s the alternative? How
about an on-campus childcare center
with both day and evening hours?
Camden County College has contracted with Kiddie Junction, a
Reader’s Choice for Best of South
Jersey by the Courier Post, to offer
award-winning childcare right on the
Blackwood Campus. Kiddie Junction
takes care of children ages 6 to 12
years and is open until 9 p.m., based
on enrollment.
And, for some parents, stipends
are available to pay for the childcare.
Less than half of the 19 community colleges in New Jersey offer oncampus childcare and only a few
offer evening hours. Camden
County College is the only community college in South Jersey to offer
this service.
In addition to on-campus childcare
and mothering support, CCC also
offers many other amenities for both
daytime and evening students including: lactation stations, Starbuck’s,
evening café hours, quiet study areas,
and evening administration hours.
Student Navigators are available until
8 p.m. in the Taft Hall One-Stop
Student Center to help with everything from course selection to financial aid. Career counselors are also
on hand to help with job placement
or job changes.
Whether students are looking for
“me” time with a yoga class, a
degree, or adult conversation just
for personal development, the
College supports the community’s
needs.

marked down before. That is what it
is like in their warehouse every
minute of every day.
Carole Cutry is the owner and
sole operator. With no employees,
virtually no paid advertising and
operating out of a warehouse rather
than a big expensive showroom, she
simply does not have the overhead
that all the others have and can
therefore hit lower price points.
How much lower you ask?
Shockingly, every mattress in her
warehouse is 55 percent to 80 percent lower than regular store prices.
Not only has she taken all of the
overhead out of buying a mattress,
she also eliminated the deceptive
advertising, phony sales and high
pressure sales tactics that are unfortunately all too common nowadays.
"My goal is for my customers to
have fun buying a mattress," Cutry
says. "And if they are able to come
here and find lower prices than they
will ever see them any place else
ever again, every minute of every
day, and not have to haggle for those
prices, that is a fun buying experience. I want every person that walks
out of here to have a smile on their
face. We want to be a breath of
fresh air in the marketplace."
Saving every customer 55 percent
to 80 percent every minute of every
day in a no haggle, no hassle, no
pressure environment? That’s a
breath of fresh air alright. Keep it up
Carole!

teamwork and academic challenges
in the fields of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.)
We make it seamless for teachers

Viking Casual Furniture
Since 1955, Viking Casual
Furniture has been Delaware Valley’s
premier source of quality patio furniture, dinettes, rattan furniture, and
bars and bar stools. Nationally recognized for having one of the largest
selections of casual furniture available, Viking carries select models in
stock and offers customizability to
suit your home’s unique style and
needs. Always prepared for the latest trends, Viking is ready to update
your backyard this summer with
2016’s most in-demand outdoor furniture and accessories.
Last year’s trends saw intimate
and cozy backyard areas furnished
with conversation fire pits. This year,
those spaces are growing larger and
becoming
outdoor
rooms.
Complete with sectional sofas surrounding fire pits, these rooms are
tied together with complementing
weatherproof rugs and throw pil-
lows.
Dining al fresco will once again
remain a standard favorite from
spring through Autumn, which
means comfortable yet functional
tables and chairs within close proximity to the BBQ grill are a must.
Companies such as North Cape,
DWL Garden Furniture, Telescope
Casual, Hanamint, Kingsley Tate and
Tropitone, all lines carried by Viking,
are filling the demand for all your
outdoor furniture needs by providing a variety of styles that are
durable, weather-resistant, comfortable and casual.
North Cape specializes in highquality all-weather wicker furniture
with thick cushioning in a full spectrum of colors. DWL Garden
Furniture is famous for its classic
lines and durable cast-aluminum
frames.
And Tropitone brings you sleek
styles with plush seating in a contemporary look.
If you feel you’re fully furnished,
you can still freshen up your outdoor spaces with current trending
colors.
The bold, bright tones from 2015
are being replaced this year with
softer, slightly muted colors. Buttery
hues are supplanting lemon yellow,
lime green is being taken over by
avocado, and those brilliant reds are
tempered down into rust or dusty
mauve.
All furniture from Viking comes
fully assembled and they offer hasslefree delivery throughout the
Midlantic Region, including down the
shore. As an added bonus, if you
hurry in now, you’ll be able to take
advantage of some special pricing. All
clearance bar stools are buy one, get
