Excellent for free range and pastured poultry operations.
Coccidiosis Vaccine: .15 per chick only offering this option with the Heavy White Cornish Cross chicks when shipping by themselves.
This is a High Yield Broad Breasted Cornish Cross breed that makes great fryers (broilers) and roasters because of the weights that can be achieved.
This is a fast growing breed; however in the first week of growth it’s slower than a broiler strain which gives this breed the time to build bone
strength. This breed has an excellent feed conversion, livability, strong legs, and a maximum white meat yield with a plump full confirmation; all
of which today’s markets desire in white meat yields. At 6 to 8 weeks of age processed weights of 4 ½ to 6 lbs can be obtained. Higher weights can
be obtained depending on the final grow out duration. With using a well-managed care and feeding program, customers have achieved processed
weights of 10 to 14 lb. roasters and capons within 10 to 14 weeks (Processed weights could vary from producer to producer depending on conditions of
management, nutrition (feed type), and biological environments; weather and relief).
Cornish-Poussin: (French for young chicken)
Using the Heavy White Cornish Cross chicks and fed out for 28 to 31 days will yield a processed 1 to 1 ¼ lb bird; 32 to 38 days 1 ½ to 2 lb. bird.
The finished product will give a complete packaged presentation needed for farmer markets and your dinner table with having ample meat yield for
the frame size of such a young bird. (Processed weights could vary from producer to producer depending on conditions of management, nutrition (feed type), and
biological environments; weather and relief).
Alternative Broilers
Slower than the fast grow but faster than the heritage breeds
Slow Grow White Cornish, Meat Bird varieties & Color Range Breeds
Recognizing the demand for a breed that differs from the fast-growing white broilers or the slow-growing heritage breeds, we offer chicks that will
develop at a moderate rate. Final grow out weights of 5 to 6 lbs in 9 to 11 weeks or 4-6 lbs in 10-12 weeks can be obtained depending on breed
selection (Weights could vary depending on conditions of management, nutrition (feed type), and biological environments and weather). Breed performance traits
include increased foraging activity, a greater resistance to disease, livability, strong legs, and excellent feed conversion. All alternative breeds will
have a longer breast bone, legs (drumstick), and wing span. They will also have a darker yellow fat compared to the pale yellow fat of the fast
growing breeds. What these birds will not have is that double breast meat and fast growth rate. If you want lots of breast meat then you need to get
the fast growing Heavy Cornish Cross, from what we have been told by our customers that use the pastured method they say the strain for which we
offer will forage and move around more than some of the other strains of Cornish Cross that they have used in the past.
* * * Both the fast and the slower growing breeds are suited well for the Free Range, Pasturing, Natural, Organic, Backyard and Custom Color
Live Markets. It’s all in what you want to produce; all of the breeds offered are excellent breeds and are unique in their performance and taste.
Processed birds:
This will give you an idea of how different
breeds will finish out, the difference is
overall confirmation and grow out time.
-slower growers will have a longer wing
span, legs and the breast bone is longer.
Heavy Cornish will have larger breast and
fuller profile and a higher white meat yield.

Capons
What is a Capon? Capons are considered to be the ultimate choice in poultry meats. A delicacy that’s truly valued by chefs
for it’s a juicy, tender, and succulent flavor. Capons will also bring a higher market value. A capon is a male chicken that
has been surgically de-sexed at an early age. After being caponized the chicken (capon) becomes quiet and docile, which
slows down the muscling process making dark and white meat muscles soft (not tough or stringy). This readily makes the bird plump evenly
giving it the distinguished juicy and tender flavorful meat qualities. Depending on feeding program. A capon will mature in 9 to 12 weeks,
weighing 9 to 13 pounds dressed weight. **WE NO LONGER MAIL OUT CAPONS OR START THEM

Postage & handling
Eggs are guaranteed to be true to breed type & to arrive in good condition.
Due to conditions beyond our control, such as shipment, hatching
equipment & methods being used we do not guarantee hatchability. Only
guarantee 70% fertile.
CARE OF BABY POULTRY:
CHICKENS, DUCKS, GEEESE and GUINEAS
ARRIVAL DATE be sure to have some flexible time to
pick up your poultry at the post office, sometimes
they do not arrive when expected due to reasons we
cannot control such as hatching and shipping delays.
WATCH THE BEHAVIOR to determine if it’s warm
enough. When cold they will be loud and huddle close
together, if comfortable they will be reasonably quiet
and will be eating, drinking or sleeping.
BEDDING use 2 to 4 inches of dry litter, such as pine
wood shavings, chopped straw or other appropriate
bedding, do not use newspaper or other slick
material, this can cause legs to slip out from
underneath them and cause serious leg problems. Do
not use bedding such as cedar chips, treated shavings,
large thick wood chips or dusty sawdust.
OUR GUARANTEE
We guarantee poultry to arrive alive and in good
condition. If for some reason they do not, replacements
will be made, credit or refund. 90% accurate true to sex
on sexing of the birds.
AT NO TIME WILL OUR GUARANTEE EXCEED THE
ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE.
It is important to follow care and brooding instructions
closely to insure getting birds off to a good start.
FIRST DAY INSTRUCTIONS have a clean draft free pen with fresh water and
new feed. When baby poultry arrives make sure they drink water then give
them feed. Guinea Keets need to have room temperature water upon arrival and
smash their feed to be smaller for the first couple days. A one foot high chick
guard should be used around chicks brooding area to keep them near the heat
source and stop any drafts, it can be taken away after 10 days.
TEMPERATURE for the first week at chick height should be 90-95 degrees.
Decrease the temperature 5 degrees per week until temperature of 65 is
reached. Turkeys and pheasants start 5 degrees higher. A brooder lamp (heat
bulb) 4 bulb, 250-watt is sufficient for 300 chicks; lesser amounts can be
brooded with a single lamp.
FEED & WATER Use a good starter feed, (local feed dealer) then switch to a
grower feed. Two 1-gallon waters and two 24-inch feeders per 100 chicks
when they are little and then use larger waters and feed containers as they get
older. When weather permits and the young poultry are old enough you can
let them outside. Granite grit helps their digestive system for meat birds,
calcium grit for layers when ready to lay eggs.
Special care of baby ducks & geese
Feed: Use a well-balanced Non-Medicated Feed, medicated
Chick/turkey feed will kill goslings & ducklings (ask your feed dealer
what’s available) starter crumbs for 3-4 weeks, then grower pellets. Water
fowl also like green grass, start them slowly on grass don’t let them over
do it.
Health: Access to drinking water at all time, and since they weren’t
hatched by their mother they don’t have her protective oil on their down
to repel water and can only swim for short periods of time until they start
to sink. They do not get their feathers until they are 4 or 5 weeks old,
