club weather station. It is available on the home page. There is an image
on the right side of the RCACF home page that looks like this. ----->
It has the latest temperature, wind speed, and
direction. If you click on the image, it takes you to
a detailed live page with charts and graphs.
As pilots, and RC pilots at that, we all know how important the wind
speed and direction is to having either a great day, or a sucky day.
Having the ability to quickly check the wind right at the field is super
important and invaluable information.
Coming soon will be a live camera. Stay tuned.

Hello everyone and welcome to RCACF.
The summer heat and rain is back and in full swing! What a big difference those fans are
making when you’re at the field. This has to be one of the best investments our club has
ever made… Enjoy!! 
When you’re at the field, make sure you bring something to drink and stay hydrated.
Remember, we have drinks in the refrigerator in the club house. Please make sure you pay
for them or the drink police will get you! Believe me, you don’t want them chasing you. I
had one of them chasing me for years… LOL I’m pretty sure they have a camera pointed
at the fridge with night vision too.
I hope everybody is enjoying the newly installed WiFi at the field. I see that some of you
are posting pictures up from the field right to our clubs Facebook page which is cool to
see.
The new weather station is on line and camera system should be ready real soon. This will
allow us all to view the field and check the weather on our RCACF website. Some of our
members drive a long distance to fly at our field so checking the weather and taking a look
to see who’s at the field will be an excellent addition to our club and for all of our
members.
Our laundry list of improvements is shrinking quickly for this year. All we have left are the
following:
• Repair the sign at the 414.
• Replace the rusted out roof over the setting area next to the club house.
• Fix the IC with a sealed glass cabinet for our monthly Flypaper and club information.
When we have completed these last projects our list will be complete for this year.  If
anybody has any ideas to help with these projects please let me know.

More cool stuff that your club weather station does for you.
The logo on the home RCACF web page like the one to the right has the
current temperature, windspeed, and direction. If you click on the logo, it will
take you to the “Detail page”. This page starts off with a map of the area. The
red circle with the number 83 in it is the location of our weather station.
You can use the plus and minus symbols on the left side of the map to zoom in our out.
Why would you want to do that? Well, if rain is headed our way and you zoom out on the
map, it overlays current live Doppler radar info.
Shows the Average for:
windspeed, gusts, direction,
temperature, dewpoint and
humidity.
The bottom portion of the
page shows a graph of the
past 24 hours. If you click
one time with your mouse,
it will overlay a vertical line
that shows further detail
such as; time, and numbers
associated with each chart
for that time.
Calendar access to look
back through history. If a
storm came through and
you wanted to see how
strong the wind were
during that period, or how
much rain fell, just access
past history with these pulldowns in the middle of the
page.

Hi Everyone
Welcome to the month of August. We have definitely had some hot days and it will
continue through August, so keep cool out there while flying and be safe.
What’s the latest? Just got the turbine waiver signed off last month and all is well.
Currently have about 23 flights on the BVM F-16 and she is holding up nice. I have a some
projects coming up that I will share with everyone soon. I do have the Yellow AT-6 Texan for
sale if anyone is interested. Well that's about it. Look forward to seeing everyone soon.

The field cleans up well when you get a group of proud members that are willing to give the
small amount of time it takes to get the job done. This was a small group made up of the
same devoted members who always are willing to lend a hand. Grass cutting was a large
chore but not for This group. I did hope to see some new members and really think your
missing out on the fun we have at our meets. Lunch is always a
cut above the normal RCACF cookout, we eat like kings.
Our next meet will be on Saturday August 15th at 8 AM. That's
plenty of time to set aside the day to help out.

Fly Upside Down

FAA extends the deadline for submitting your comments in reference to the
Interpretation of the Special Rule for Model Aircraft
In true government approach, the FAA extended the comment period for
their Interpretation of the Special Rule for Model Aircraft at the eleventh hour on
Thursday. initially set to expire on July 25, the new deadline is September 23.
The FAA expects that the added time for comments will allow the affected community
to prepare meaningful comments, which will help the FAA to establish what
clarifications to the interpretation may be required. The AMA has not been shy about
its criticisms of the proposed rules, calling many of them objectionable.
I encourage everyone who has not done so to comment on the FAA Interpretive Rule.
Follow the AMA’s guidance and respond to specific areas of concern, but try to do so in
your own words because that will have more impact just repeating what other have
said. We may completely lose our freedom to operate model airplanes. If you truly
want to kill a hobby, let the government get involved.
Please take time to submit your comments to the FAA in regards to their
proposed ruling to our hobby. Deadline for comments is September 23, 2014

2015…(The future) All model airplanes have been grounded.
This is what it could look like if we don’t speak up now. Hundreds of airplanes sitting on
the ground because either the field is within 5 miles of an airport, or sponsors want to
pay a pilot to fly their product and show it off. Who knows what things might be next?
Don’t let this happen to the hobby we love and spend lots of money on. Comment now.

Hello from the safety zone
just a few reminders as we strive to be safe.
All pilots must announce take-offs, landings touch-and-goes, emergencies and dead stick
landings. Pilots must also announce a clear runway following a landing or removal of a
disabled aircraft. Another help is if you have your spotter announce these for you.
Anytime you walk past the safety nets zone you must announce “ON THE RUNWAY”. This
alerts other pilots that you could be in harm’s way of their aircraft. Then announce when
you are clear of that area.
Remember to have your spotters. Of course we can’t seem to leave out our NO FLY
ZONES for the field. Please be more in tune to where we are at in relation to the fly zones
as there has been several lost signal and lost orientation this month. We had planes
landing outside the zones and I know sometimes they just get away. Here are those
zones as a reminder beside the 10x10 sign at the expressway.
a. Airspace over the Expressway to the north.
b. Airspace to the West of the runway.
c. Airspace to the East of the tree line defining the Club's eastern boundary
d. Airspace to the South of Keene Rd.
We always strive to keep everyone safe and your aircraft flying.
Summer is here and so are those high heat indexes so I ask that we remember this
month’s safety TIP; Make sure you hydrate well at the field. We are supposed to drink at
least 8 8oz glasses of water daily so you need more when you’re out in this heat!!!
This past month has been a great month of flying. Always remember SPECTRUM owners,
Radio on first, then plane on. When done flying; plane off first, radio off last. This will give
you great success. Let’s go out there and have a great safe month of August and
remember to support your club anyway you can as that is how we survive!!!

Hello Pilots,
How many of you have seen the live RCACF weather icon on rcacf.com? Thank you to
everyone involved for this awesome feature for our club.
I will be continuing the testing for our calendar models usually on Sunday mornings. Please
check our website and watch for email notifications to bring your aircraft to be photographed
with a SkyGirl, and thank you for your cooperation.
Thank you to all club members for the opportunity to photograph your aircraft through the
years. I now have an excellent opportunity to help spread RCACF, and our love of radio control
model aircraft, the fun, camaraderie, and the year round flying, throughout the world. Please
read the 2014 June Radio Control Model World for a short story and photographs from FL Jets
2014, and stay tuned for Top Gun 2014.

Historic F-4 Phantom fighter arrives in Orlando
I viewed this story on WFTV Channel-9 television today. It is an awesome F-4 Phantom that
was brought from Texas on two flatbed tractor-trailers. It will be reassembled, restored, and
mounted on a pedestal and placed at the Joe Kittinger Park South-West corner of the
Orlando Executive Airport.

It was pretty cool seeing a convoy carrying the plane's parts making its way through the
streets of Orlando. I bet it turned may heads. Imagine sitting at a redlight with a fighter jet
next to you. Wow!
Col. Joe Kittinger is a legendary pilot and a former POW. This plane will serve as a tribute to
all Vietnam veterans. Click here to watch the full story.
