SOLUTIONS FOR JUICES BY PURCHASING A GLASS BOTTLING LINE, MEXICAN PRODUCER JUMEX PUTS ITS TRUST IN SIDEL YET AGAIN Jumex turns to Sidel again in purchasing a new glass line for fruit juice its goals: innovation, high speed and efficiency Jumex - derived from Jugos Mexicanos (Mexican Juice) - is the favourite brand of juice and nectars for Mexican consumers due particularly to its packaging sidel.com/JNSDIT Famous for the packaging and its 'little blue can' One of the leaders of the Mexican domestic market The early origins of Jumex were with the Fruit and Juice Packing, Inc. and its Frugo brand, which were founded on April 27, 1961. The first flavours produced were apricot, apple, guava, mango, pear, plum and tamarind. The actual Jumex brand and its well-known 'little blue can' were introduced in 1964 and quickly becoming the favourite brand for Mexican consumers. It features the famous latita azul, which was to become the symbol for the country’s best fruit juices and nectars. Almost a half-century later, the Jumex Group is associated with the Mexican canned products company La Costeña and Frugosa, Botemex, Jugomex, Alijumex brands, Vilore Services and Vilore Foods, Inc. The Group is now one of the leaders on the national market, and exports more than 20% of its production mainly to the USA and other countries around the world. The Jumex brand is particularly popular among Hispanic consumers in the United States. Packaging innovation always a fundamental priority for Jumex The Jumex Group focuses on innovation, both for products and for packaging, as part of an extensive sustainability project. As resistant as a can and as practical as a bottle, the 'bottle can' (lata botella) in the half-litre and litre formats, is an idea unique to Mexico - and 100% recyclable. “Jumex has always considered packaging innovation to be a fundamental priority,” confirms Roberto Fernández Bravo, Group Engineering Director. “Currently, we are working on bottle lightweighting while still being very attentive to costs and to the quality of protection." Since then other lines and many standalone machines have followed. The most recent Sidel line producing 250ml (at 54,000 bph), 410ml and 473ml glass bottles at the Jugomex plant near Mexico City is giving excellent results. Equipment includes a Sweepoff depalletiser, empty bottle conveyors, Blockrinser bottlewasher, a Veloce HF filler, a cap feeder, a Pama cooler, and conveyors for filled bottles. “Before, the three formats were bottled on three different lines. However, we wanted to run them on one high-speed line with greater performance and efficiency. That’s why we contacted Sidel,” explains Roberto Fernández Bravo. “Our experience has been very positive, which we wanted to repeat this time. Sidel is a large group that has always provided us with optimal service. It’s a cutting-edge company whose philosophy is quite close to our own. Jumex is a leader because our customers appreciate the quality of our products. The same goes for us when we buy machines."
