“Refreshingly
ludicrous!”
From the co-creator of South Park

The New York Times
The Sound Of Music’s Elicia MacKenzie and
Shrek’s Liam Tobin bite into juicy parts.
Before the wildly successful South Park and The Book of Mormon,
there was Trey Park’s fan-favourite film Cannibal! The Musical.
This highly anticipated new stage production tells the hilarious and
(mostly) true story of Alferd Packer, the only person ever convicted
of cannibalism in America. This parody of classic American musicals
like Oklahoma!, is country western, meets court room drama, meets
survival story, meets laugh out loud fun!
Co-created with additional book, music and lyrics by Christopher Bond,
Aaron Eyre and Trevor Martin, known for their critically-acclaimed Evil
Dead the Musical - Cannibal! The Musical promises to be hysterical!
Starring Liam Tobin as Packer (Shrek the Musical) and Elicia MacKenzie
(selected by Andrew Lloyd Webber to play Maria in The Sound of Music)
as Polly Pry, Packer’s unexpected love interest. They share the stage
with some best-known Second City alum: Marty Adams, Mike “Nug”
Nahrgang, Trevor Martin and Mark Andrada.
Premieres February 10, 2015 at David Mirvish’s Panasonic Theatre

exclusive downloads of
three songs from
Cannibal! The Musical.
Here’s the background on them,
including one of five new songs.
SHPADOINKLE DAY This is Trey Parker’s answer to Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, sung by the hero, Alferd Packer (Liam Tobin).
Happy and upbeat, this song will stick in your head.
THIS SIDE OF ME A beautiful ballad sung by Polly Pry (Elicia MacKenzie), a hard-nosed reporter who’s bent on getting the story
of a lifetime. Meeting Alferd “The Cannibal” Packer, she soon realizes he’s not what she expected.
MEAT MY DESTINY One of five new featured songs written for the show this gospel-inspired duet by Christopher Bond, Aaron
Eyre and Trevor Martin, is performed by Alferd and his guardian Angel (Tobin and MacKenzie). Alferd and his mining pals are lost
and starving in the Rockies when he realizes that perhaps his destiny is to sacrifice himself for the group.

The hilarious, record-breaking musical takes all the elements
of the cult classic horror films and combines them to make
one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time. Five
college friends spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin
in the woods after accidentally unleashing an evil force that
turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares
employee, turned demon-killing hero), to save the day.
Audience members sitting in the “splatter zone” run
the risk of leaving the theater covered in fake blood as
the production incorporates some fun ‘real-life’ effects
during certain scenes. In addition to some dismembered
limbs, demons telling bad jokes, and catchy tunes (“Look
Who’s Evil Now”, “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting
Killed by Candarian Demons”), the show features a saucy
combination of wit and sexual innuendo that keeps
audiences laughing out loud.
You don’t need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show.

South Africa’s longest running musical

“A joyous Celebration of South African Democracy!”
Philadelphia Tribune
In 1999, Richard Loring recruited a group of young people from the dusty streets of Soweto. From hundreds of
hopefuls, only 30 young aspiring performers were chosen.
The next year was taken up with vocal classes and intensive dance instruction which, for most of these youngsters,
was their first opportunity to enter the world of professional theater.
“A more high-energy
infectious uplifting show
would be impossible to find!”
“Run, don’t walk to get tickets
to this exhilarating spectacle!”
Times Picayune
Toronto Star
Mr. Loring had a vision: to create a show that celebrated the diversity of South Africa, uniting the creative talents of
choreographers, musicians, writers and performers from all walks of life. He wanted to create a show that reflected
the true South Africa, one that captured the sense of history and hope for the future that the people carry in them.
Working closely with choreographers David Matamela and Debbie Rakusin, they created an inspired fusion of
Afro- and Euro-centric forms of dance, a style which became a trademark of this award-winning show.
The long hours of rehearsal were rewarded when the company was invited to perform at the Millennial
Celebration on Robben Island. On December 31, 1999 the “Stick Dance” was performed in Cell Block B, the
very place where former South African President Nelson Mandela had been a prisoner for some 18 years.
The result was an explosive and emotional performance televised around the world and seen by over
250 million viewers.
Based on the CNN broadcast, Mr. Loring received a deluge of demands that the school start a show
and he began working diligently with the choreographers and composers. During this time, he
was introduced to Dr. Don Mattera, and his book of poetry – Azanian Love Song. Moved by the
visceral images in the poetry, Mr. Loring asked Dr. Mattera to become a part of African Footprint
and he agreed, allowing his poetry to be set to music.

Celebrate all things “Sherlock” - but not too seriously. The iconic
moments are here with a heart-felt tip of the hat and a knowing
wink to the audience. A murder in a locked room, a race through the
streets of London, the trademark deductions, the chemical analysis,
the observation of mud and rust stains. Homage is paid to the tales
penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - the deerstalker hat and the
magnifying glass - the extraordinary relationship between Sherlock
Holmes and Dr. Watson - the witty repartee.
Meet Sherlock’s arch enemy – Moriarty - and the one woman who
ever made an impression on Sherlock and “got away”; Chief Inspector
Lestrade from the newly-formed Scotland Yard does his best to
maintain law and order, aided (and hindered) by his constables. And
of course, no tale of Sherlock Holmes would be complete without the
landlady of that infamous address, 221B Baker Street, Mrs. Hudson.
