CERATIZIT carbide has got a new name
Merger of CERAMETAL and PLANSEE TIZIT
On November, 29 2002, the executive board of the Plansee Group, Reutte/Austria,
and the shareholders of Cerametal, Mamer/Luxembourg signed an agreement for the merger of their carbide activities.
CERATIZIT resulting from the merger of Cerametal and Plansee Tizit will be headquartered in Luxembourg. With a turnover of
approx. 400 million EUR and a total staff of 3,500, it will be one of the leading manufacturers of carbide products worldwide.
The Plansee Group and the Luxembourg based owners of Cerametal will each hold a 50 % equity share in CERATIZIT.
The declared objective of the merged carbide manufacturer is to establish CERATIZIT as the most competitive carbide brand
worldwide. With more than 30 production and sales locations in all the three large economic regions of the world and with their
technological know-how, the ambitious target of the merged firms is clearly achievable.
