waterworks / lamson 2013 lamson arx Arx is a purpose-built reel for casting a variety of lines with maximum line control and reliability. With the continuing evolution of Spey and Scandi lines, shooting heads, flat mono, etc. for twohanded fishing or in the salt with big winds or fast fish, a reel that can help prevent line snags can be an extraordinary benefit. Arx has a full cage to prevent line from escaping critical areas, with the gap between the case and spool located on the side of the reel to prevent small lines from dropping into the space between. Normally a configuration like this would do a good job at preventing line fouling but would preclude palming the reel. As you can see from the photos Arx is carefully milled on the bottom third of the reel to expose a functional palming section. Even the drag knob has been designed to provide optimal grip without exposing a portion of the reel to line fouling. Let the D loops fly! You nailed it and get ready to throw a mend, and see the last loop of your shooting line has dropped into the nasty little gap between your spool and case. Fumble. Arx doesn’t have that gap. Other reels that don’t have that gap can’t be palmed. Arx can. It was intended for moments like this. format Large Arbor materials Machined 6061 aluminum, stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ weight 9.25 oz (est.)/ Arx 3.5+ Made in USA Line Head/Tip 100’ .035” 750 grain Skagit/18’ T-17 sink tip. 100’ .035” 680 grain Scandi/15’ polyleader 825 grain long belly (70’ head, 130’ total length) 100’ .030” 640 grain Skagit/12’ T-12 sink tip. 100’ .030” 640 grain Scandi/14’ polyleader 730 grain long belly (70’ head, 120’ total length) 100’ .024” 500 grain Skagit/10’ T-9 sink tip. 100’ .024” 500 grain Scandi/10’ polyleader lamson speedster A bonefish, coming back at you. You either get him on the reel or start stripping, and of course you want him on the reel . . . The Speedster is a super-high retrieve rate reel with a narrower arbor, inboard mounted handle and an outer diameter significantly Enter the Speedster — super fast larger than our highest performing reels. The narrow arbor prevents retrieve rate and a narrow spool means you don’t need to worry about laying line level under . . . duress. And you really do want that fish on the reel. format Super Arbor materials Machined 6061 aluminum stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ weight 4.10 oz (est.)/ 5-6 wt Made in USA line barreling, and the added circumference and inboard handle improve retrieve rate. Mate these features with our time tested smooth-as-silk, maintenance free drag system, classic Waterworks-Lamson styling and attention to detail, and you have what the name implies: A hotrod of a reel. waterworks vanquish As the name implies, we created the Vanquish reel with just one thing in mind – total victory. And as the “form follows function” zealots we are, it all starts with the world’s smoothest, and now much larger and more powerful drag system. Delivering twice the torque of our previous salt water design, the Waterworks conical drag generates no stickslip even at the line-snapping rates required by blue water anglers. To support this kind of torque, a new, much stiffer frame was created — one that transmits extreme loads with a simple, efficient and graceful structure. Other innovative Vanquish features include: > an integrated foot/frame which, while stronger than a traditional fastened-on foot, also raises the center of mass of the reel, improving casting ease and accuracy > machined-from-solid, modular stainless stripping arm on V12 and V10 > our proprietary Hard AloxTM finish > large, ergonomic, self lubricating no-slip handle > tandem roller clutch transmits higher torque and provides redundancy > Fully sealed, zero maintenance drag components A tuna makes his living slashing through bait balls at about 25 mph. When you’re stripping a fly through the bait and it gets hit, it feels kind of like hooking a passing car. You need a reel with a rigid frame and a drag that can deliver massive stopping power with smooth, progressive torque. Even better if it doesn’t hurt the eyes. format Large Arbor materials Machined 6061 aluminum stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ weight 3.80 oz (Arx 3.5+) Made in USA waterworks force SL Spring creek days, freestone days; the days of any number of fish, but a thousand casts. Your graphite fly rod feels weightless. Even on the 1001st Force SL (Super-Light) reels utilize a combination of subtle cast your Waterworks SL goes unnoticed, floating without effort with space-frame and complex CNC carved cross sections that make the rod and line sailing loops over water. SL rigid, rugged, and yet as the name implies, featherweight. The Only when you stop casting does the SL start being truly noticed. format Ultra Large Arbor materials Machined aluminum, stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ weight 2.95 oz / 4-5 wt Made in USA Vanquish-style integrated foot/frame raises the reel’s center of mass making casting smoother and contributing to both a reduction in weight and greater rigidity. The high-grip drag knob makes fine-tuning the world’s smoothest drag system even easier. SL reels are finished in a unique clear Hard AloxTM. lamson litespeed For many years Litespeed has set a benchmark for ultra large arbor performance reels with a standard frame. The line storage format is somewhat wider than Speedster’s, producing a thinner layer of line for extremely constant drag torque. Litespeed, as the name implies, is also the lightest within the Lamson family. As with our other premium reels, pocket milling the spool and integrating the counterbalance increases strength and stiffness without adding weight. Litespeed reels come in a close second to a corresponding Waterworks Force reel in terms of retrieve rate and weight, and share our patented maintenance free, super smooth conical drag. HARD ALOX™ All of our premium reels are offered in one fantastic finish only — a proprietary combination of alloy selection, surface preparation and conversion coating we’ve dubbed “Hard AloxTM,” a term taken from the anodizing process itself, wherein the aluminum surface is converted to aluminum oxide. By increasing coating thickness and reducing porosity our Hard Alox finish has set a new standard for toughness. Ask a dealer for a demonstration, and be prepared to be impressed. format Large Arbor materials Machined aluminum, stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ weight 3.70 oz / 5-6 wt Made in USA lamson velocity Hard Alox™ CLUTCH The Waterworks-Lamson brands employ a fully STAINLESS STEEL zero-lash roller clutch. This mechanism relies on the locking effect of a number of ramps and rollers to achieve torque transmission. There are no “teeth” or “steps” to break off or wear out. The zero-lash feature means instant engagement, improving feel and eliminating “spike” that the reel, line and leader experience when a typical pawl clutch hooks up. type 2 “nickel” Velocity reels utilize a unique “3 plane” pocket milling technique to shave weight and maintain every aspect of performance without sacrificing their reputation as the most rugged of the Lamson line format Large Arbor materials Machined aluminum, stainless steel finish Hard Alox™ or type 2 “nickel” weight 4.20 oz / 5-6 wt Made in USA up.
