The SIR series of circular iris dampers have been made for the regulating and measuring of air flow for
circular ducts with diameters between 100 and 1000 mm. The special conical shape of the blades allows
them to be adjusted precisely, with a margin of error in the measurement of 5%, and to operate quietly.
The measurement of the air flow that passes through the damper is carried out by measuring the difference in the pressures at the two manometric inlets and reading it off the relevant diagram. The adjustment
is carried out manually by turning the graduated knob. A locking screw keeps fixed the calibration carried
out. The housing is classified as airtight in accordance with EN 1751 in class C. Operating temperature
range: from -30°C to +70°C.

Construction
External housing and fins in zinc plated steel; adjustment mechanism in plastic for diameters of 100 to
315 mm and in zinc plated steel for diameters between 350 and 1000 mm. The damper is equipped with
two circular nipple connectors with airtight rubber sealing rings. The pressure inlets are made of polyurethane.

Operation
Regulation of the air flow is carried out by turning the knob, that enables the opening and closing of the
iris blades. Reducing the section generates an increase in the pressure loss across the damper causing a
reduction in flow rate. The flow rate value passing through can be determined by simply measuring the
differential pressure across the two manometric sockets and reading it off the corresponding diagram
attached to the damper.

N.B. the measurements are always carried out with the air flow that follows the direction of the arrows
visible on the damper.

Fixing systems
Installation
Affixing the SIR to a circular duct is carried out, for example, by means of rivets, making sure that they do
not compromise the opening/closing mechanism of the fins. The direction of the air is indicated on the damper itself by means of a visible indicator (arrow). For accuracy of measurement it is important to maintain
a safety distance from bends, tapering or junctions, that could interfere with the correct calibration of the
flow rate.
In particular the following distances should be maintained:
- 4 diameters before the SIR
- 1 diameter after the SIR
