Volkswagen Power Systems Clean. Effective. Reliable. The drive for your ideas. Volkswagen Power Systems - The the drive drive for for your your ideas ideas. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, What will characterize the power systems of the future? Which expectations will they have to meet? One thing appears certain: Future oriented industrial engines must easily comply with any environmental challenge. They must meet the most demanding emission legislations and make respectful use of resources. Individual engine completion options to customer specification are another necessity in order to achieve maximized customer benefit. Volkswagen is prepared to succeed in all those aspects: Our range of innovative power solutions ranges from diesel- and gaseous fuel engines with identical installation footprints via specially developed emission control packages to compact, leading edge co-generation power plants. Minimization of environmental impact is a continuous global priority and we expect further progress in this field. Based on Volkswagen‘s advanced passenger car engines, engine-internal innovation along with applicationspecific equipment will keep us ahead of any challenge. . With Power Systems from Volkswagen, you benefit from innovative power which is proven millions of times, reflecting the standards of one of the world‘s largest engine manufacturers. The following pages will introduce you to the product- and innovation competence of Volkswagen Power Systems. Sincerely 1 Heiko Dröse, Head of Volkswagen Power Systems Volkswagen industrial engines - Stage V ready With the low-emission TDI industrial engines, we are already achieving the emission levels of Stage V today. Our diesel particulate filter system does not need downtimes for regeneration and clearly reduces emission levels and fuel consumption at the same time. e Stage V r Furthermore, the power packs score points with electronically controlled common rail direct injection and cooled high pressure exhaust gas recirculation. With special anti-wear options for polluted environments coming on top, you as a customer enjoy a versatile system of modules that will befit virtually any installation- and service scenario. ady Leading Edge. – 150 kg (330 pounds) for 55 kW of ontinous power – Variable turbo charging: Unprecedented torque Emissions? Specially developed heavy duty packages for industrial application enable the engines to reach exceptional life times in the toughest of environments and modular completion kits make their installation straightforward. Six modular completion packages are available, completing the engine to a turnkey power system for applications such as lift trucks, construction equipment or similar uses. The equipment manufacturer chooses amongst various configurations regarding exhaust system, air intake routing, fuel supply, charge air routing and SAE-power handover (ref. configuration matrix). A specific emission control package uses a sinter metal filter system with particularly large ash capacity (220g versus 80g). This leads to a substantially increased service interval of up to 10.000 hours. The customer draws quality- and cost advantages from the use of pre-certified components, which are based on the mass production standards of a globally leading engine manufacturer. The new engines meet any future expectation with particle absorption rates of 98% and service intervals that can be extended to 1000 hours. It is also possible to run the engines in more basic configurations in order to succeed in less regulated markets. Due to the innovative power of Volkswagen Group, emission compliance standards of tomorrow can be complied with today. The injectors used resist carbonization effectively, which ensures significant soot reduction in comparison to industry average. It further enables indoor engine operation and reduces fuel consumption. A fundamental element of our heavy duty packaging is sealing technology for the timing belt cover which achieves 100% protection from environmental impact whilst retaining the timing belt’s efficiency advantage. The same package features an “Industrial Duty Starter” which is engineered to provide up to 250.000 engine starts. In addition, the compressor wheel of the turbo charger is upgraded, allowing it to exceed the needs of toughest dynamic load cycles in lift truck operation. Depending on the application, the resulting useful engine life reaches 15.000 to 20.000 hours.
