diverse cities in North America. Victoria is the bustling provincial
capital. Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains and just two hours
north of Vancouver, Whistler is a premier mountain resort. Kamloops
is home to an incredibly diverse landscape and is popular for exciting
outdoor activities.
The Prairie Region starts off with rocky terrain and flat farmland
and ends at the foot of the Canada’s Rocky Mountains which
stretch from the Interior Plains of Alberta to the Rocky Mountain
Trench of British Columbia. Take a train journey on the Rocky
Mountaineer and discover forests rich in diversity, beautiful lakes

Parliament Buildings near which are attractions like Confederation

distance are the Ottawa Locks of the Rideau Canal. Overnight.
Western Canada, includes four provinces - British Columbia, Alberta,
Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The latter three are collectively the

Mount Royal Village. A typical Albertan souvenir would be cowboy

Journey along the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon for a
short walk to the lower falls. Continue along the Parkway toward

Great Divide and enter Yoho National Park to visit Takakkaw Falls,
Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and the Natural Rock Bridge that spans

The largest of only three natural asphalt lakes in the world, covering
about half a square kilometer and producing some of the world’s
finest asphalt (mined and exported since 1859). Legend has it that a
tribe of Amerindians were swallowed by the lake as punishment for
eating hummingbirds, which hosted the spirits of their ancestors. An
on-the-spot museum houses some (sometimes bizarre) artifacts that
have been recovered.
Caroni Swamp & Bird Sanctuary
A rewarding excursion for any nature lover, especially birders. The
boat trips leave at 4pm, meandering through freshwater marshland
and mangrove forest. Look for a variety of birds, marine life and treedwelling animals like the silky anteater and tree boa.

Visit Grande Rivière, the second largest leatherback turtle nesting
ground in the world. During nesting months, endangered leatherback
turtles heave themselves out of the ocean to come ashore and lay

Argyle Falls
See Tobago’s premier waterfall, a highlight of the Windward coast
drive. A 15 minute forest walk brings you to the stunning three-tiered
waterfall. Keep an eye out for kingfishers. A guide, available at the

Fort King George
Regally overlooking the capital Scarborough from 140m above the
Windward coast, the fort built in the 1780s, is Tobago’s best preserved
historical site. See the museum which displays Amerindian artifacts,
colonial relics, military memorabilia and fossils from Tobago’s distant

Breakfast. Opt for a scenic drive to Maracas Beach, the most popular
beach on the island where you can relax and unwind taking a swim

Tierra del Fuego National Park & Lapataia
Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago off the south of South America,
separated from the mainland by the Magellan Strait. This famous park
of 63,000 hectares is 12 km from Ushuaia. It contains many species of
trees and bushes and flowers. See the peat bogs and the beaver dams
before arriving at Lapataia River. Enjoy an excellent view of Laguna
Verde and the upland geese and ibis in summer. Walk up to Laguna
Negra or the Beavers Path, to see the work of these curious animals.
In Lapataia Bay see the Yamana kitchen, an interesting archeological
site. Stop at Lago Roca (lake), whose color varies according to the

then drops suddenly and violently into a 262 foot abyss at the falls.

Day 5: Iguassu - El Calafate
Breakfast. Depart for a flight to El Calafate and on arrival transfer to
your hotel. This village on the south coast of Lake Argentino is named
after a typical thorny bush of southern Patagonia which blooms in the
spring with yellow flowers and in summer with purple fruits. Eat this
fruit and you will return to Patagonia! Overnight.

Peru straddles part of the Andes mountain range and is bordered
by Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil and Bolivia to the east
and Chile to the south. It is divided into 3 regions: the coast, the
Andes Mountains and the Amazonian lowlands. Peru was home to
ancient civilizations like the Norte Chico and the Inca Empire till it
was conquered by the Spanish Empire in the 16th century.
Day 6: El Calafate – Full Day Perito Moreno Glacier
Breakfast. The spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier is about 30,000
years old and is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice
Field. Its surface is 192sqkm, the front wall is 5km wide and some of
its peaks are 80m high. You may hear the tremendous noise of huge
ice pieces cracking from the glacier into the lake. Overnight.

and Japan and uses corn, potatoes, beans and traditional foods such
as quinoa, kiwicha, chili peppers and several roots and tubers.
Try the popular Ceviche – raw seafood marinated in lemon juice,
Pollo a la Brasa - grilled or roasted chicken, Papa a la Huancaina
– potatoes with spicy cheese sauce, Humitas – fresh corn Tamales,
Empanadas, Aji de Gallina - chilli chicken. For dessert, try Arroz con
Leche - rice pudding, Inka Cola - a fizzy, bubble-gum flavoured drink,

Shopping:
Peru offers some of the finest and best-priced crafts anywhere.
Buy alpaca wool sweaters, ponchos, shawls, scarves. Shop at the
Miraflores district in Lima which has many shops with handicrafts
from over Peru, malls and small stalls selling ceramics, textiles,
excellent silver jewelry and antiques. Cuszco’s Plaza de Armas offers
similar goods.
Visit Huaca Pucllana, a magnificent ceremonial and administrative 4th
century site and considered by the Incas as ‘aupallaqta’, a sacred
village. See the historical centre and continue to the Convent and
Church of San Francisco, visit the Museum of the Banco Central de
Reserva, hosting Peru’s treasures. Continue to El Olivar in San Isidro,
Miraflores’ Central Park and Larco Mar.
Depart early in the morning for Pisco Airport and board a small Cessna
aircraft, for the best view of the famous Nazca Lines. The guide will
explain the mystery of the lines. Fly over Nazca and see the huge
mysterious signs which cover over 350 sqkm. You will see the spider
(45m long) and the giant monkey (145m long), amongst others.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Pisco and return to Lima.

of the World’. The whole of Cusco is covered by Incaic and Colonial
archaeological remains. Start with a walking tour through the
Cathedral, visit the Qorikancha or Sun Temple, presently the Santo
Domingo Church. Continue to the impressive Sacsayhuaman Fortress,
Q’enqo - a religious site and one of the finest examples of a rock,
artfully carved in situ; Puca-Pucara - a fort on a hill with superb views
and Tambomachay, the Inca baths.
Full Day Machu Picchu
After early pick up and transfer to the Poroy railway station, board
the train to Machu Picchu, the lost City of the Incas. The journey
through lush Urumbaba valley to Aguas Calientes via Ollantaytambo
is one of the most spectacular in the world. Take a tourist bus to the
top of the ruins (25 minutes). Machu Picchu was never discovered
by the Spaniards - it was buried in the jungle until Hiram Bingham
discovered it in 1911.
Enjoy a guided tour walking through squares, temples and the Royal
Palace. See the ‘Intiwatana’ or Solar Clock, the Temple of the Three
Windows and the Circular Torreon. After lunch on your own in Aguas
Calientes return by train to Poroy Station and transfer to your hotel.
Full Day Sacred Valley
Visit the market at Pisac town, where you can buy typical Peruvian
handicrafts at the best prices. After lunch, tour the remarkable Inca
village and fortress of Ollantaytambo. A very steep stone staircase
leads into the fortress. See a Temple with 10 niches and the Temple
of the Sun. In the afternoon visit Chinchero lying on the foundations of
an important Inca site. Pick up some crafts from the brightly dressed
people of Chinchero in the main plaza.
