Sh ooting Activities Cowboy Action Shoot So you want to shoot like a real cowboy? Then put on your holster and head for Lajitas’ Cowboy Action Shoot. You’ll get a chance to handle a single action Colt 45, the pistol that was infamous for maintaining law and order and winning the west. And you’ll learn to fire the same short double barrel shotgun that stagecoach drivers used to fend off the bandits and gangs that roamed the open badlands. You’ll finish off with the .45 caliber Winchester model 94, the favored saddle gun of cowboys, horseman and lawmen. Five Stand Skeet Shoot Lajitas offers one of the finest five stands in the West. This shotgun shooting game using sporting clays, allowing shooters of all abilities some of the most exciting target combinations available. Our course utilizes eight automatic traps to simulate game birds such as dove, quail and pheasant. There is even a “rabbit” bolting across the ground challenging you to take a shot. One round consists of 25 shots, with groups of shots being taken from each shooting stand. One-on-one lessons are also available from one of our crack shots. You’ll be shooting like an expert in no time! Note: The Cowboy Action Shoot and the Five-Stand uses real weapons. The ability to participate is based on the size of the shooter. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Biking and Hiking Surrounded by over 1 million acres of conservation land, Lajitas and the Big Bend region are ideal for hikers and mountain biking enthusiasts of all skills levels. For your own personal tour of our rugged 25,000 acres and Big Bend National Park, experienced bikers and hikers can arrange equipment rentals and guided tours through the Lajitas Activity Center. From breath taking trail rides, serene river expeditions, to the excitement of a Wild West shootout, the activity professionals at Lajitas’ own Outdoor Activity Center are ready to saddle you up for a day of adventure. Mountain Biking Lajitas short ride is a two-hour energizing expedition lets you enjoy the beautiful countryside, so you can experience the fullness of this rough and tantalizing desert. For the more advanced or expert rider Take 4 to 6 hour Lajitas long ride (seasonal) to experience the best that the Lajitas terrain has to offer. The Big Bend National Park all day is an exhilarating ride into Big Bend National Park. Experience the Big Bend like you never have on the dirt roads and jeep trails of Big Bend National Park. A full lunch will be provided. Aga ve Spa Bike rentals If you have been in the area before or you would just like the roam and see the sights on your own, we can provide you with the transportation. Our Kona Mountain Bikes with front suspension will take you anywhere. The Agave Spa is a little oasis in the “high desert.” The Agave Spa at Lajitas offers specialty massages and hydrating facials that nourish and hydrate your skin. The Agave Spa restores your sense of well-being as you relax and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit! The foundation of most of our treatments is derived from the aromatic and healing elements possessed here in the Chihuahuan Desert. Our treatments are designed for the purpose of relaxation, using herbal ingredients such as Agave, Rio Grande mud and stones native to the Big Bend. Hiking Mile of trails wander the hills above Lajitas. Enjoy the wonder of the area on foot on your own or on a guided hike with one of our knowledgeable trail guides. The Mesa de Anguila Day Hike goes up the saddle and on top of Mesa de Anguila in Big Bend National Park. The trail is moderately difficult, and lunch is provided. 2 person minimum; 8 person maximum Short on time or don’t want to spend all day? The Chisos Mountain Tour is a great way to get an overview of the National Park. You will leave the desert floor and gradually move into a different ecosystem complete with pines, oaks, aspen and juniper. Based on decades of experience and keen knowledge of the relationship between horse and rider, we will custom design the perfect ride for your party no matter the size or experience. We can even set up one-of-a-kind events like cattle drives and aoudad hunts. Trail Rides AT V Tours Explore the Big Bend on one of our rough-and-tumble all-terrain vehicles. These ATVs can go anywhere and take you to remote places you might not ever see otherwise. Our guides are incredibly knowledgeable and transform the arid Chihuahuan Desert into a living, breathing thing of beauty. This ride crosses the infamous Comanche Creek and along historic trails to observe breathtaking views of the Mesa de Anguila including views of Mexico and Lajitas Mesa ever present in the background. Half day rides, tailored for the guest, exploring several scenic areas of Lajitas. A true adventure guaranteed. On yyour two-hour ride, you’ll explore the Laji Lajitas’ property that shares a boundary wit with gorgeous Big Bend National Park. Our gu guides will take you all over the southern ex expanse of Lajitas, enjoying stunning vviews, remarkable rock formations, and ooutstanding flora and fauna. A fabulous way to spend a morning or afternoon. Sunset & Sunrise Trail Rides These popular rides last for about an hour and a half.. Guides take guests around Lajitas Mesa for a most spectacular view. Note: Riders must be 10 yrs of age or older; under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. All riders under 18 are required to we wear a helmet. Sunrise Breakfast or Sunset Dinner at Stargazer Mesa Ride out to our little piece of heaven known as Stargazer Mesa. Tucked away in the distant hills of Lajitas’ back country, we have found the perfect location to get away from it all. Join us after your trail ride to the mesa for an outstanding meal preparedd as it would be in the Old West, using Dutch ovens and hot coals. Vehicle transport or hay wagon available upon request. (Dinner includes Personal Chef on-site, add $100 for Personal Chef on-site for breakfast) Jeep Tours Ride with Lajitas and Far Flung Outdoor Center in specially outfitted Jeeps designed to seat up to six adults. Our guides are highly knowledgeable and offer tours filled with geology, botany, biology, and history. The 3 hour Camp 360 tour takes guests up to North County Road to the top of a mountain offering a sweeping view in all directions. On the 2 hours Apache Trail tour you’ll walk in the footsteps of our native ancestors. The day long Ten bits tour includes a Big Bend National Park paleontologist as your interpretive guide as you wander through land once roamed by dinosaurs. Take the ‘Round the Bend’ tour if you are a first-time visitor to Big Bend. On the Buena Suerte Tour, our guides will take you to the “boomtown” days of Big Bend’s past. River Tours River tours down the Rio Grande are the perfect way to see the Big Bend from a rarely seen perspective. Gently flowing down the river you will see the majesty of this unique landsacpe rise above you. Half Day River Trips Join us for an excellent three mile adventure through the open mountainous country of Big Bend. This 2-1/2 hour trip is ideal for large groups, families and small children or guests who just want a short interpretative tour of the Rio Grande. River tours departs from the Lajitas Activity Center at 8:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. (schedules may vary). We include a snack, guides, river equipment, waterproof bags and shuttle to and from Lajitas. 4 person minimum. One-Day Canyon Trip This very popular trip travels through one of the several canyons of the Rio Grande. The choice of canyon is decided from day to day and depends on the water level of the Rio Grande. The Canyons that are available are: the Colorado, Santa Elena or Temple. Also depending on the water levels; we decide whether to use the raft or a canoe. This trip departs from Lajitas at 7:30 a.m. and returns approximately at 5:30 p.m. daily. Hu nting Row after row of milo, millet, and sunflower stalks attract an abundance of white-wing dove to the 650-acre Lajitas Hunt Club. The Hunt Club includes a “luxury” bunkhouse with a full bar, a commercial kitchen, seating for up to 65, and a screened porch with shuffleboard. Dove Hunting Half-day hunts are either morning or evening and include beverages and a hunt attendant per hunter. Full-day hunts include beverages and a hunt attendant per hunter. This attendant is always available to hand you an ice-cold beverage. Dove hunts are available from September 1st through October 30th and December 26th through January 4th. Blue Quail Hunting in the Big Bend We can make your hunt the most successful and talked about yet! We have some of the finest guides, the greatest food and the prettiest Blue Quail that you can imagine. Hunts are available November through February. Aoudad Hunting Lajitas has the distinction of offering one of the only mounted Aoudad hunt in the U.S. On horseback you will climb to 5,000 feet on the rugged mountain trails of the Lajitas Mesa. You will set out alone on your three-day hunt with a wrangler and a licensed hunting guide. This exclusive hunting adventure is one of the last great mountain man hunts and will test your riding skills as well at your hunting ability. Hunters can take Aoudad and up to two Javelinas (quota for the year) during the three-day hunt. Note: To preserve the herd, hunts will be limited to one every two weeks. You will need a Texas state license to hunt.
