Eurhythmics uses kinesthetics to allow music to be experienced through the entire body. The deep connection between ear, mind, and body is explored through movement, rhythm games, and other engaging
activities in order to stimulate the innate musician within us all. This unique and comprehensive approach to
learning and experiencing music can be beneficial to all, regardless of age or skill level.
In this active and fun workshop, you will experience first hand what it’s like to gain broader understanding
of musical elements such as rhythm, meter, pulse, form, pitch, dynamics, phrasing, articulation, and mood
through physical movement. Wear comfortable clothing and bring an open mind and a willing heart. Open to
teachers, students studying 48 months and up, and parents with a music background.

FROM THE
PRESIDENT
& EDITOR
We at AGM have been very busy over the
past year . The AGM Newsletter took a
brief hiatus and has been reborn with
a clean new colorful look to go a long
with the brand new logo and re-branding
that began last year. Up until now the
newsletter was published solely in print
form. Now it will printed periodically
in print form and be emailed to you
more often in electronic form. As you
may have realized, we are collecting
emails addresses of students and email
addresses of the parents of students so
we can create new electronic vehicles
to disseminate information quickly and
efficiently so that everyone will stay up
to date with the AGM information. Our
new format will allow us to keep up with
the times and speed up news to you in
these fast paced times. At the contests if
a change takes place that we need to let
everyone know about, instead of posting
it to a bulletin board , we will send it
directly to your smart phone, tablet or
computer. Please have patience as all of
the changes we have planned will take
time and be rolled out in phases.
2015 was a big year for AGM. We shed
our 501c4 designation and became a
501c3 organization. this will allow us
to start taking tax deductible donations
from donors so that we may start to offer
more scholarships and grants to our
members. We can now apply to various
organizations for grants to help us
implement future programs such as
a new improved examination program,
operating grants, and technical grants to
help us transfer in to the electronic age
with tablet scoring.
We created a new modern colorful logo
that changed the look of the organization
immediately. With that came a brand
new website that let people find
information more freely and gave us
a whole new web look. With that we
obtained a grant from Google to help
us move to the top of search engines so
we can get our message out. As a result
we have more hits to the website and
we are gaining more new members than
ever before. The next two phases of the
website will include a store where you
can purchase AGM merchandise, and a
online teacher directory where you as
AGM members can advertise your studios
A brand new score sheet will make
its debut at the 2016 contests. It
is a mixture of comments and check
boxes and students will be graded
on accuracy/precision; tempo/pulse/
fluency; technique; articulation; phrasing;
dynamics; tone/balance; character/style,
performance style/stage presence. Thus
the teacher and student should be able
to obtain more useful information about
their students performances.
We are excited about all these changes,
and we hope that you will be too.

2015 ALL AROUND
How can you become a future all around
champion? Every student who enters the
National Contest is automatically entered
in the All Around Contest. For each event
that the student participates in they are
given points. The more events that they
enter the better chance they have to
win the title All Around Musician. The
student gets points for competing in
solos, duets, groups, taking a theory test,
writing essays, joining cadet teachers,
convention orchestra or convention choir.
The more you do the better your odds.
Of course you have to practice, as first
place gives you 10 points, second place
- 8 points, third place - 6 points, fourth
place - 4 points, 5th place -2 points. The
entire point total can be found on line in
the syllabus. Visit http://americanguild.

VILLAFORES WATSON
MARIANNE
GO
2015 All Around Piano Champion
2015 All Around Vocal Champion
My name is Erin Villaflores and I am the
2015 All Around Piano Champion. I am
fourteen years old and a freshman at
Plainfield East High School in Plainfield, IL.
I am a percussionist for the curricular and
competitive marching band, and concert band.
I play the piano for the jazz band, school
musical, and I accompany the choir on some
occasions. In order to continue being active in
church ministry, I play the piano for the Holy
Youth Fire Ensemble at St. Francis of Assisi
Parish in Bolingbrook, IL.
I have been studying piano with Mrs.
Perla Cudal since I was nine years old and
eventually started competing at the AGM
competitions since I was eleven years old.
I wasn’t looking forward to competing on
my first year because I would get really
nervous and I didn’t know what to expect.
After winning many awards at my first AGM
competition, I was motivated to join again, and
on the same year, I got interested into doing
keyboard and started taking lessons. After
winning the 2013 All Around for Piano and
Keyboard and the 2014 All Around for Piano,
I wasn’t expecting to win another one. To my
surprise, I won the All Around Piano for the
third time this year.
I am very honored and thankful to receive this
award. I would like to thank my family, friends,
and duet and ensemble partners for all of their
help and support. I would like to thank my
impressive piano teachers: Mrs. Perla Cudal
and Mrs. Cora Francisco for their hard work and
guidance over the past few years. I would also
like to give a special thanks to my keyboard
teacher, Nikki Tolentino, for all of her hard
work and guidance this year. Without these
people in my life, I wouldn’t have won the All
Around Piano again. Last but not least, thank
you AGM for giving me an opportunity to be a
part of this exciting event! Through my AGM
experiences, I have had the chance to meet
many talented and amazing musicians/friends.
I love competing at the AGM because it has
helped me become a better musician today.
2015 All Around Keyboard Champion
Hi! My name is Raegan Watson and
I am the 2015 Keyboard All Around
Champion. I am 8 years old and live in
Clinton Township, Michigan. I have one
brother, his name is Andrew. I take piano
and keyboard from my mom, Rachel
Watson. I like keyboard because you
can do a lot of fun sounds and do, my
favorite, Sequenced Keyboard, which
has a background for you to play with. It
sounds really cool.
I am going into 3rd grade and am
homeschooled. We are really busy with
activities. I go to a Homeschool co-op,
am a member of American Heritage Girls
and am a competitive Irish step dancer.
I take Irish Dance at Ardan Academy of
Irish Dance. I have two pets. Our dog is
Peppermint Paddy (we call her Mooey)
and our cat is Daisy Mae. I like to draw
and read A LOT!
I like AGM because you get to meet
friends from around the world and see
friends that you have already met before.
I don’t usually care if I win, but like to
see others winning. When my name was
called as winner, I felt like it was a dream.
I would like to give special thanks to Mr.
Rick Chizmadia for making AGM more fun
than ever.
My name is Marienne Go and I am 12
years old. I am this year’s AGM All Around
Vocal Champion!
This award did not come easy. I worked
hard for it, months of preparation and
hours of practicing, not to mention my
family’s time & effort bringing me to and
from the studio.
This is my second year competing AGM.
I am representing the Keyboard Touch of
Mrs. Lori Graves. Ms. Lori has moved to
Florida, but has continued to work with
me with the help of Ms. Melissa for voice
and Ms. Susan Del Rosario for Piano.
I absolutely love singing. I enjoy playing
piano too. I started singing when I was
very young. My Mom enrolled me to
piano & voice lessons when I was about
5 years old, it was just fun & play for me
in my early years. I was 8 years old when
I started going to The Keyboard Touch.
Mrs. Lori was the one encouraging her
students to join AGM, and I want to thank
her for that. Participating in AGM has
given me the stressful but joyful feelings
and memories of competing and having
and gaining friends from the studio.
I owe my success from Mrs. Lori Graves,
Ms. Melissa & Ms. Susan. I also owe my
trophy to my family, but most especially
to my Mom, who even with her hectic
schedule, have to find time to drive me
back & forth to the lessons & group
practices. And lastly, I thank the Lord for
the talent and all the blessings He has
given me.

WHAT MUSIC MEANS TO METhe winning essay by Kayla Odasco
The Keyboard Touch
Music, what is it? It can’t be just sound.
A noise, a voice? Is that what music is?
to me music is like the lullabies of sweet
melodies rocking me to sleep as a kid.
Music is like that friend that convinces
you that you’re never going to be alone.
Even at your hardest times. People say
that when words fail, music speaks.
Music says the words that I can’t say
right out in the open. When I play the
piano, each key that I press makes me
feel like I’m slowly painting a story,
a new adventure. When I play or just
listening to music on my own it takes
me away to a place where troubles don’t
exist. It takes all the tension of the day
away for even just a few minutes. Some
if I’m feeling down it just makes me
happy again. You can tell a lot about
someone just through their music. It can
show their mood, or can even describe
you as a person entirely.
Music is more than just a noise, a voice, a
pluck of a string, a breath. It’s an endless
range of possibilities and wonders. Music
has been apart of my live for a really
long time now, and I’d like to keep it that
way.

Electric Honey
Sunday, 5:00 PM
ELECTRIC HONEY is a Detroit-born rock band made up of John Labut, Patrick Minjeur, Matt Doppel, Chris Righi and Evan Gatny all
them former AGM Contestants. Their sound is a raw, powerful mix of dynamics, superb vocal harmonies, and complex instrumental
arrangements. The nature of Electric Honey coming together is best described as fateful. In a remarkable amount of decisions and
life choices, John, Patrick, Evan, and Matt ended up wanting the same thing, and in doing so, they are making some of the best rock
music of their time and encapsulating it eternally with their first full length album Vanadium
Queen City Sisters
The Queen City Sisters is an a cappella women’s trio that performs songs from the 1940s with red lipstick, hairdos with flowers, and costumes with a
touch of sass! All Sisters hold degrees of Music performance and Education from a wide variety of colleges (most more than one!). We have performed
in a wide range of events from small rooms to open air concerts (see list below). Formed in the fall of 2013, The Queen City Sisters have enjoyed bringing the style, music, and overall optimism of the 1940s to the Greater Cincinnati area. Starting with the timeless classics from the Andrews Sisters, they
have branched out into arrangements of other artists, 1950s music, and 1980s music as well. Bright toe-tapping fun has followed the girls as they have
performed for events that include: 2015 All Star Game, Summer Concerts at CCAC, Macy’s Downtown Dazzle, 1940s weekend at the Museum Center,
Beer Baron’s Event at Spring Grove, Christkindlmarkt, currently Headlining on the Cincinnati Dinner Train, various Retirement Homes, Libraries, and charity
events. We all live and work in Cincinnati and continue to enjoy this journey!
