Aids Horse Show
ALPINE - Many people
worked behind the scenes to
bring this area one of the finest horse shows in recent
years.
Despite warm weather, the
entries were many and the
spectators were trea ted to a
fine two days of excellent
entertainment.
Paul Nichols, chairman of
tlie Horse Show would like t o
take this opportunity to thank
a ll of the people who did so
m uch to see that Alpine was
ready for the Viejas Days. He
especially would like to thank
all of those who donated the ir
e quipment so that the ring
was in such excellent shape .
He also wishes to thank those
who worked on the entry gates
and the ground crew. In fact,
every service re ndere d was
deeply appreciated by a ll
those in charge.
"Alpine can well be proud
of the people who worked together in such a fine spirit,
through these re cent months,"
according to Paul Ni chols.

A STATEMENT OF POLICY
There have been some changes made at the Town
and Country News. These changes have come about as
a resu It of circumstances over which we have no control.
As most of the area knows, recent actions of teenagers in the area, and many fromoutof the area, have
resulted in damage to property as well as many other
problems.
Sheriff Joe 0 'Connor has cooperated with Alpine by
assigning a Country Deputy to our town. Apparently
th is has been a challenge to some of the young people
and there has beenaspeeding upof 11 hostilities" rather
than a healthy respect for the law .
Therefore , it is with regret, that we announce the
following:
:11 Whenever a teenager is arrested, the name of that
teenager (or any lawbreaker, for that matter) wi II be
pub Iished in the Town and Country News. And furthermore, the name and address of that teenager's parent
or guardian, will head the list.
Most of you are aware that this pol icy has been tried
in other communities with excellent results.
We fervently wish that we would never have to publish a single name of a teenager in our communi ty.
That, however, is up to the young people themselves .
