At times, I have micromanaged my company only to find productivity and efficiency decline. All our employees are dedicated to their positions, and I have had to learn to let go and allow them the freedom to do their jobs with integrity, creativity and pride. My Strengths: They have changed from year to year. During the last several years, my dedication and resilience have risen to the forefront. After hours, I’m a full-time partner in Eat It and Like It, a company that creates a TV show with the same name and its companion website, eatitandlikeit.com. Women Business Best Business Advice I Ever Received: “Starting a company is like jumping off a cliff and assembling the parts of an airplane on the way down.” I laughed when I read it—but unless you’ve started your own company, you are absolutely unaware. Days don’t have enough hours. It’s all a leap of faith. 114 sPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION On a Typical Day: I wrap up my day job, run home, walk Patsy Cline (my dog) and run, bike or swim in triathlon practice. I work in the evenings on Eat It and Like It. On weekends, I’m up early for Team in Training, preparing for a number of triathlons and raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You’d Never Guess: I’m a classically trained concert pianist and spent 10 years as a Top 40 station radio personality.
