New courses and offers NEW
We are very happy to present you new courses every semester. New
fitness group courses like Soccacise© and Functional Fitness offer an
intensive and holistic (athletic) training. More fitness courses also take
place in our gym to diversify and round off your workout routines. In addition to our traditional Soccer Tournament, a newly established Soccer League will take place for the first time. For female basketball and
handball players, we offer special courses for her. Yoga enthusiasts can
choose between various yoga workshops as well as a weekly course in
meditation and Sivananda style.
More information on all courses can be found in this program or online.
Booking of Courses Without Fees, respectively
Single Appointments
Crowded courses are often annoying. In order to avoid overcrowding,
we introduced a free registration within the sports yoga, Soccacise©,
crossXtreme, M.A.X., mountainbike, hiking, parkour, table kicker, and
spinning. Your booking is only valid for one appointment and can be repeated weekly on demand. With any booking of fields or courts that are
free of charge, you receive a confirmation of registration automatically
as well as a link to an online cancellation option. If a field or free place
in a course is booked, but not used repeatedly and therefore is blocked
for any other participant, the user is blocked for future participation.
Cancellation and registration technically can be made until shortly before the course starts.
6
Soccer League NEW
The Soccer League will be played in an open league format at the
Alfred Delp sports facility and is free of charge for all participants. The
games will be 2x 25 minutes with teams of five field players and one
goal keeper. Further information to game mode, rules, registration, and
dates will be made available online.

www.uni-mannheim.de/sport/sc

all sports courses and venues. If in doubt, a personal ID needs to be shown.

are no additional costs, course duration is max. 30 minutes. You can
choose from various courses: Abs Special, Athletic Training, Rope Skipping, Functional Fitness, Back Exercises and much more.

Introduction to Equipment
This introductory course offers personal guidance and will be the basis
for future training. We recommend this course to all participants because it teaches the basics of training, offers an intensive introduction
to all equipment and the compilation of a personalized training schedule. This knowledge is essential for effective and successful training
and ensures a positive training experience over time. The introductory
courses are free of charge; dates will be announced online. At the
beginning of the semester, the courses take place in smaller groups.
Personal Training
In addition to the Introduction to Weight Training, we offer a personal
training, explicitly for advanced gym users and athletes. In this course,
new and diverse training forms and methods for your individual goals
will be explored. Furthermore, the training will focus on free weight
training in addition to the equipment training. Together with your
trainer, your training goals and individual training schedule will be discussed and developed. For further information please visit our homepage.
9
Body-Fitness
Please bring clean (indoor sports) shoes and a towel to the courses.
Please bring your own (yoga or gymnastics) mat, if you have one!

be fun (again). This specific prevention offer contains a weekly training
over the duration of two months and costs € 99.00. After the successful
participation health insurances normally cover € 75.00 of the fee, the
Institute of Sports reimburses the remaining € 24.00. The courses start

Prevention & Health
Nutrition
In cooperation with Studium Generale, the Institute of Sports offers
this free course to students and employees who want to eat healthier
without restricting themselves. Unfavorable eating habits and uncritical food choices do not only result in overweight, but might also lead
to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, dental problems, cancer,
as well as osteoporosis. These risks can be mitigated by better eating
habits and sports.
This course offers (among other things) help with weight loss, food anamnesis, options to cut down on calories, and a personalized nutrition
plan. Furthermore, free individual sessions with our coaches are offered
as well. The individual appointments take around 30 minutes and are
bookable on availability. Further information can be found online.

the Institute of Sports' courses. Due to cooperation agreements, students
of affiliated universities are allowed to participate, too. These affiliated universities are:
• DHBW Mannheim
• Hochschule Ludwigshafen
• Hochschule Mannheim
• Popakademie Mannheim**
• Staatliche Hochschule Für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim
• Universität Heidelberg*
Furthermore, employees or affiliated members of the following organizations
are eligible, too:

Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW GmbH)*
Bundesagentur für Arbeit**

Valid documents (student ID, membership card, employee’s ID) have to be
shown by entering the venues to prove eligibility. As of this semester, a
SportsCard is mandatory for those members, whose institutions are marked
with a star(*). The SportsCard is only valid in combination with a valid student ID, membership card or employee’s ID. The SportsCard can be booked
any time, it is valid for one semester (semester times of the University of
Mannheim), is not transferable and is not automatically renewed. The registration can be made online. It must be brought and shown to all sports
courses and facilities. More information can be found online.
Sports Schedule
Monday, February 15 – Sunday, May 29, 2016
Courses do not take place on (public) holidays.
School gyms (blue font) are closed on the following (public) holidays:
Easter Break: March 21 – April 1st, 2016
Whitsun Break: May 16 – May 29, 2016
For the semester break, May 30 – August 28, 2016, a separate program will
be announced online at the respective time.
The gym in D2 is open year-round and closes only during Christmas holidays,
New Year’s Eve, New Year, and Good Friday.
The Institute of Sports asks all participants to please respect the starting
times of the courses. Instructors are allowed to exclude a participant for
technical and health reasons in cases of long delays. Instructors are also allowed to limit the number of participants if a course is overcrowded.
34
Fees
The courses are free of charge for all eligible participants unless otherwise
noted. In most cases, a formal registration is not necessary unless otherwise
noted in the description.
Registration
Some courses require a registration, this is indicated in the program (if
needed, the registration for the SportsCard is necessary, even for courses
without a fee, see above). Courses with registration can either be courses
with a regulated number of possible participants or courses that require a
fee. Fees are indicated in the program. The number of participants is in most
cases limited. If too few participants register for a course, the course cannot be held. In this case the fee will be reimbursed. Registered participants
are not entitled to further claims. Reimbursements are not possible after a
course has already begun. An additional service charge of € 10.00 has to be
paid for rebooking or withdrawal from a course, irrespective of the date.
Registration Dates
Please respect the registration dates of courses. Registrations have to be
made online.
Payment
Payments are collected via direct debit of the bank account during the online registration. If the given bank account is not covered, a handling fee
of € 10.00 will be charged. The same handling fee applies to incorrect bank
data. If the given bank account is not covered, a handling fee of €10.00 will
be charged. The same handling fee applies to incorrect bank data. The SEPA
direct debit mandate, which is generated during the first registration, needs
to be printed out, signed and sent to the office of the Institute of Sports or
submitted in the gym in D2 within 5 days. Otherwise, the booked course is
automatically cancelled and free vacancies are given to participants on the
waiting list. We cannot accept scanned or faxed mandates.
Insurance
Students of Mannheim’s universities are insured within the framework of
university sports as well as during lectures. Insurance does not cover sporting activities outside the organized courses and events of the Institute of
Sports (for example independent groups, independent exercise, independent
tennis matches, individual training in the gym in D2).
Participants have to take care of their insurance themselves when they take
part in courses where the Institute of Sports acts only as intermediary for
affiliated organizers. Employees of the University of Mannheim, participants
affiliated with ABSOLVENTUM, FdH, ZEW, Universität Mannheim Service und
Marketing GmbH and Popakademie Mannheim are categorically not insured
during university sports and therefore responsible themselves for insurance
coverage.
