Activity 1 : As Girls Arrive: Daisy Petal Kaper Chart
Time Allotment

Materials
• Daisy Petal Template
• Scissors
• Crayons/markers/colored pencils
• Masking Tape
• Poster Board Kaper Chart
Steps
• Give each girl a copy of the Daisy Petal Template.
• Let each girl color it any way she’d like and then write her name on it (or have an adult help her).
• The first girls to arrive at the meeting can choose a kaper to do at today’s meeting by placing their
Daisy on the Kaper Chart. The remaining girls will be rotated in for all future meetings so that
everyone gets a turn to try all the kapers.

Activity 2 : Opening Ceremony: Our Big Adventure

• Optional: Poster Board with the Girl Scout Promise
Steps
Invite girls to gather in the Daisy Circle
SAY:
• Welcome girls, to our second Girl Scout Daisy meeting. Are you excited to find out what we’ll be
doing at today’s meeting?
• Let’s start out by reciting the Girl Scout Promise.
• Did anyone have a chance to practice at home since our last meeting?
Normally, girl who is listed on the Kaper Chart for the Opening would lead the group in the Opening
Ceremony. She may or may not be ready to do this yet. Ask her if she would like to lead the group in
reciting the Girl Scout Promise. If she isn’t ready, ask if someone else would like to lead the group or if
they would rather repeat the Girl Scout Promise after you.
Recite:
The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor,
I will try,
to serve God and my country,
to help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Activity 2 : Opening Ceremony: Our Big Adventure Continued
SAY:
• Let’s learn the I’m A Girl Scout Daisy song. Repeat each line after me:
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy! Take a look at me.
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy, happy as can be.
• We’re having fun and sharing each and every day.
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy, Hip, Hip, Hurray!
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy, take a look at me.
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy, happy as can be.
• I’m going on a Journey, with friends along the way.
• I’m a Girl Scout Daisy, Hip, Hip, Hurray!
SAY:
• Ok girls, are you ready to start our Daisy Adventures?
Hold up the Daisy Adventure Map. Show all the fun things they can do as Daisies as you talk about
each activity.
SAY:
• Here is a map that shows some of the fun things we’ll be able to do this year. We are going to set
out on our big Daisy Adventure. Along the way, we’ll have the opportunity to sell cookies, to take
trips, and to explore the outdoors.
• On every adventure you can choose different paths to take.
• We have an important choice to make today. We need to choose whether we want to go on a Petal
Adventure or a Journey Adventure. You have two Journeys to choose from. So we have three
choices today and we can only choose one.
• Are you ready to find out more about these different adventures?
• Awesome! We have three activity stations set up, representing the three adventure choices. You
will have the chance to learn a little about each adventure and draw a picture. Then, at the end of
our meeting, you’ll get to vote for your favorite.
• Does that sound good?

Activity 3 : Introduction to the Daisy Petals

• Daisy Flower Friends
• 6 feet of butcher paper/mural paper or poster board
• Crayons/markers/colored pencils
Steps
Show girls Daisy Petals and the Daisy Flower Friends as you talk about the Petals and awards girls
can earn.
SAY:
• This activity is all about the Daisy Petals.
• You’ve already learned the Girl Scout Promise and Law. If you choose this adventure, you’ll found
out even more about the Girl Scout Promise and Law. You’ll also meet the ten Flower Friends —
each one stands for a different line of the Girl Scout Law.
• You’ll earn the Promise Center when we learn the Girl Scout Promise. You’ll earn the ten Petals
each time you meet a Flower Friend and learn about a line from the Girl Scout Law. You’ll also
earn the My Promise, My Faith Award. Plus, you’ll get to earn Daisy Leaves by learning about
money and running a business (that’s what you do when you sell cookies!).
• Does that sound like fun?
• Let’s get started by imagining what this year could be like. Close your eyes and imagine the
prettiest flower you can think of.
• Now come up and draw a quick picture of your flower on this poster board. Write your name next
to it. Note to volunteer: You or another grownup may have to help the Daisies write their names.

Activity 4 : Introduction to Between Earth and Sky Journey

• 6 feet of butcher paper/mural paper or poster board
• Crayons/markers/colored pencils
Steps
Show Between Earth and Sky Journey Awards as you talk about the awards girls can earn.
SAY:
• This activity is all about the Between Earth and Sky Journey. If you choose this adventure, you’ll
learn about nature and get to go outdoors. And you’ll choose a project to do together that will help
the Earth.
• You’ll earn Journey awards that you can put on your uniform.
• You’ll also earn the My Promise, My Faith award. Plus, you’ll get to earn Daisy Leaves by
learning about money and running a business (remember, when you sell cookies, that’s what
you’re doing!).
• Does that sound like fun?
• Okay, let’s imagine what this Journey year could be like. Close your eyes and think of your favorite
thing to do outside — something that makes you feel really happy. It could be walking in the park,
playing with a pet, or running through a sprinkler.
• Now come up and draw a quick picture of your outdoor activity on the poster board. Write your
name next to it. Note to volunteer: You or another grownup may have to help the Daisies write
their names.

Show 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals Awards as you talk about the awards girls can earn.

• This activity is all about the 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals Journey.
• If you choose this adventure, you’ll learn all about animals and how to care for them. You’ll also
choose a project that you can do together to help animals.

Activity 6 : It’s Your Daisy Adventure ? Choose it!
Time Allotment

• 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals Awards
• Sticky dots, stickers or Postit
• Notes (1 per girl)
• Tape
• Healthy Snacks
Steps
Ask girls who signed up on the Kaper Chart to help with snacks to pass them out.
SAY:
• Take a look at all your drawings! What do you think about the posters you created?
• Your drawings will remind you of what you can do this year, depending on which path you choose.
• They’re all exciting paths, aren’t they? You’ll have tons of fun, no matter which one you choose.
• So, are you ready to decide?
• Let’s take a minute to go over the three paths before you vote.
Show Daisy Petals.
SAY:
• If you choose the Daisy Petals, you’ll learn all about the Girl Scout Promise and Law and the
Flower Friends.
Show Between Earth and Sky Journey Awards.
SAY:
• If you choose the Between Earth and Sky Journey, you’ll learn about nature and the outdoors.

Show 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals Journey Awards..
SAY:
• If you choose the 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals Journey, you’ll learn all about
animals and how to care for them. Plus, you’ll do something to help animals.
Tape the printouts of all three choices around the room next to each of the poster board drawings that
girls drew for each activity.
SAY:
• Remember, we can only choose one adventure for this year, so you need to think about which one
you would like to learn more about.
• I am going to give you each a sticky dot (sticker, or Post-it Note). You get to vote for what you
• want to do this year by putting your dot on the printouts. Note to volunteer: Point out the printouts
to girls again so they’ll know where to put their dots.
• Okay, are you ready to vote?
• Ready, set, go!
Keep It Girl-Led Tip
Give girls plenty of time to vote. They may want to go back and forth from one choice to another
before deciding.
When the voting is done, have girls form a Daisy circle.
Take the printouts off the wall and bring them to the circle so girls can see which choice has the
most dots.
Guide girls in a discussion to come to consensus and make a final decision by asking questions such as:
• Does it look like a lot of you are interested in the same adventure? Which one?
• Is there an adventure that only got a few votes or none at all that someone really wanted to try?
Would you like to tell the group why you wish that choice got more votes?
• How do you think we can make a final decision that our whole Daisy troop will be happy about?

Activity 6 : It’s Your Daisy Adventure ? Choose it! Continued
Keep It Girl-Led Tip
Give girls time to come up with ideas about how they can decide together. You might be surprised by the
solutions they come up with, even as Daisies!
If girls can’t decide on one choice, coach them by asking questions such as:
• How many of you had two top choices? — would you be happy with either one? Would you be
willing to change your vote to help the team come to a decision?
• If you really want your top choice, but it didn’t get the most votes — what did you like the most
about that choice? Could that be part of one of the other choices?
For example, if one girls loves animals and wanted to do 3 Cheers, you could point out the activities in
the other paths that could include animals.
Once girls have made a decision, SAY:
• Congratulations! You have shown excellent leadership skills in coming to an agreement and
making your choice. I think you will really enjoy this choice.
• Are you excited?
• Me too! At our next meeting we will start our new adventure.

Activity 7 : Closing Ceremony
Time Allotment
5 minutes
Materials
• None
Steps
Girl who is listed on the Kaper Chart for closing will be the one who starts the Friendship Squeeze.
Gather girls in a Friendship Circle (Girl Scouts and leaders stand in a circle, each crossing her right arm
over her left and holding the hands of the person next to her) and sing the Make New Friends song.
Sing Make New Friends:
Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver and the other’s gold.
A circle’s round, it has no end.
That’s how long I want to be your friend.
After everyone is quiet, girl in charge of closing ceremony will start a Friendship Squeeze by squeezing
her neighbor’s hand with her right hand. One by one, each girl passes on the squeeze until it travels all
around the circle. Girl who began the squeeze can say, Goodbye, Daisy Girl Scouts and everyone raises
their joined hands and twists clockwise out of the circle so that everyone is untwisted and facing away
from the circle.
REMIND THE GIRLS:
• When the next meeting will be.
