Hancock Bank & Trust
The Hancock Bank, the first bank
to be established in Hancock
County, was chartered in December 1887. Another bank was established in Hawesville in 1904,
known as The Hawesville Bank,
and in 1917 the two Hawesville
banks merged to form the
Hawesville Deposit Bank.
In 1948 the Hawesville Deposit
Bank moved to its present location, and in 1966 the bank’s name
was changed to Hancock Bank &
Trust Company.
A second full service banking
office was opened in Lewisport
in October of 1966. John D. Puckett was Vice President and Manager of the Lewisport Office.
Russell Badgett, Jr. of Madisonville purchased controlling
interest in the bank in 1972, and
Russell Badgett, Jr., was elected
to the Board of Directors. W. F.
Edwards was elected Director
and President in February 1972.

In March 1987 the Board of Directors authorized the filing of an
application for approval to form
Hancock Bancorp, Inc., a bank
holding company. In August of
that year the Federal Reserve
Bank of St. Louis approved the
application by Hancock Bancorp
to acquire Hancock Bank & Trust
Company. In November 1987 the
Board approved consummai-
tion of an agreement for Hancock
Bancorp to purchase Breckinridge
Bancorp, Inc., sole owner of Breckinridge Bank of Cloverport.
June 2003 the Board approved establishment of a loan production office in
Madisonville; in February 2006, the establishment of one in Bowling Green;
and Breckinridge Bank of Cloverport
merged into Hancock Bank & Trust
Company in January 2005.
In November 2006 the Board authorized the establishment of a full service
office in Madisonville and a full service office in Bowling Green. Growth
in the Bowling Green operation indicated a need to relocate to a larger
office in that market. In April 2009 an
office building was purchased at 2501
Crossings Blvd. in Bowling Green for a
full service operation.
One hundred percent interest in WHB
Holdings, LLC (a mortgage loan company) was purchased in April 2009 and
in November 2009, WHB Holdings, LLC
merged into Hancock Bank &Trust
Company.
The last 125 years Hancock Bank &
Trust Company has endeavored to
offer innovative bank products and
services and treat customers with respect. In the future, the bank plans to
continue serving its customers in the
same manner that has kept them
strong for 125 years

Message from
the President
The old saying that “Time fly’s when you are
having fun” could be used to describe the last
3 yrs. I’ve been honored to serve as your
President the past 2 yrs. I can’t think of a
better group of people that have been to
work with, than the people that have given
their time to serve on this board. Sharon
Russelburg is also finishing out her 3 yr. term
and she has been dedicated board member
than her. The board has seen many changes
the past 3 yrs. and I feel very comfortable
that the Chamber is in very good hands
going forward. Pam has really got a lot of
new ideas for things to do in the upcoming
year. Please continue to give her and the
other board members the same support you
have given me. Thanks Tim
