A short Introduction …
As a qualified medium-sized manufacturer of shut-off and control valves, the company
artec valves and Industrial Services GmbH belongs to the “Technology” division of ARAN
Holding GmbH, based in Bad Schwartau close to Hamburg (Germany).
artec AIS GmbH as an integrated part of a solvent company group manufactures at its
headquarters in Berlin Leegebruch shut-off and control devices with purely metallic sealing
systems for the highest requirements for maximum process reliability..
The past has demonstrated that a soft-sealing design principle is no more able to fulfil the
ever growing demands of modern industrial processes. To satisfy the demands of the
market for longer service life, permanent tightness and maximum resistance to aggressive
and abrasive media at the same time, has only proved by the purely metallic sealing
principle.
With our team consisting of experienced professionals, we are successfully designing,
manufacturing and selling for many years demanding Shut-off and control devices for the
highest pressure levels and temperature ranges or even for critical media and extreme
conditions.
As a well-established manufacturer and service provider for valve repairs, we have
extensive knowledge and a variety of experiences within the different industries and
processes.
Special conditions require individual solutions. In close cooperation with our customers we
develop technical and economic valve concepts according to customer requirements and
specifications.
With the clear objective to consider the needs of our domestic and international customers
and business partners as the centre of our activities, as well as at the same time to satisfy

Products and Design
Shut-Off Ball Valves
artec AIS Shut-Off Ball Valves will be used in order to completely release the media flow in
pipeline systems or to have a safe and tight shut-off to disconnect the media flow from
following Installations. They have been developed for dynamic and static loads as well as
for abrasive, erosive and corrosive media e.g. natural gas, sour gas, sludge’s, ash, brine,
granulates. Maximum safety in operation as well as highest reliability and availability
having first priority in production of artec AIS Shut-Off Ball Valves.
During several month of testing at the valve test facilities of a well-known German Gas
Provider we have successful performed a wear performance test with a Shut-Off Ball Valve
– DN 400, Class 600. The test results of the wear strength of the valve have been certified
in accordance to the recognized European Guideline. By this successful test we were able
to confirm that our Shut-Off Ball Valves are able to guarantee a calculated proven lifetime
of 50 years.
Control Ball Valves
artec AIS Control Ball Valves are installed in every industrial facilities were flowable media
(gases,fluids,steam,brine,ash,solid materials, granulates a.s.o.) will be transported through
pipeline systems, in order to ensure controlled process sequences. artec AIS Control Ball
Valves are fulfilling the highest economical and quality requirements and guarantee
absolutely trouble-free, fully automatic operation in Plant and equipment supply. Highly
wear-resistant control valves by artec AIS are significant for highest lifetime, maximum
durability and great efficiency for the plant operator.
Safety Shut-Off Ball Valves
Safety shut-off valves (ESV) are only intended to guarantee a fully open or fully close of
the media flow in the system. This type of valves are a functional independent valve group
which is certainly preventing an non expected excessive overpressure or pressure drop –
depending on the application. During pressure relief in case of failure, the speed of the
valve function in the context of the pressure rate of change in upstream and / or
downstream pipeline areas will be considered. A Safety shut-off valve may not
automatically open or close again when a fault occurs and thus significantly increases the
safety in complicated areas of the plant.
Spray attemperators (Desuperheaters)
The artec AIS Spray attemperators – also known as desuperheaters – are control valves for
conditioning / cooling of overheated steam or hot gases by means of water injection.
The units consisting from body up to the nozzle injector from one piece forged material.
This makes it possible to manufacture the spray attemperators with a length ≤ 1500 mm.
The integrated metal/metal sealed ball valve provides the shut-off function of the injection
water. In case of high differential pressure the seat ring/ball plug system will be used as
pre-throttle. This minimizes possible wearing problems.

Control orifices
In general artec AIS control ball valves can be installed independent from the installation
direction into the piping system as the flow through is bi-directional. The referring control
orifices (control contours or control characteristics) will be designed and calculated in
accordance to the requirements issued by the site operators. Finally it is uncomplicated to
design to manufacture, to refine and to install linear or equal percentage characteristics as
well as a variety of special contours on control orifices.
If, after some years there are any changes of requirements with regard to control
characteristics or type of media in the system, it is possible to replace the installed control
orifices by modified new control orifices even directly at site. The previously required
replacement of a control valve in case of change of control characteristics is no more
necessary.

Desuperheater
Control function:
The control function could be described as follows:
The thermostat behind the desuperheater provides the controller with any change in the
steam temperature. The controller passes on the signal to the control actuator, which then
turns the Spindle to the required angle. So that in-flowing water is released by the
predefined control characteristic of the nozzles.
Other settings, such as Cascade Controlling or Enthalpy-Control etc., can also be designed
according to the usage.

Service Provisions
The division valves and industrial services include maintenance, repair and installation of
shut-off and control ball valves of all types of producers.
Service
Maintenance and revision works must not only be performed reliable and technically
perfect but also within the agreed time schedule in order to secure the availability of
equipment for the customer. This is guaranteed by artec AIS with its Service Division at
any time.
The qualified staff in the headquarter in Leegebruch as well as our employees in the branch
offices are providing detailed and economical solutions for each single service case. For this
purpose we have a Team of Engineers, Design engineers specialized in the use of modern
CAD design software, an efficient team for work preparation as well as an experienced
project management team available.
We are able to manufacture spare parts after pattern in case the necessary spare parts are
no more on stock or no more available at all. Therefore new design drawings will be
prepared based on the dimensions of the components and the required materials will be
selected accordingly.
Every repaired Valve will be Factory Acceptance Tested in the same way as for a new valve.
Final Inspections e.g. Functional Testing, Hydrostatic body shell tests as well as sealing
tests of the valve seat seal system will be performed and documented in accordance to
national or international rules and regulations. Final certification can even be ordered with
3’rd party authorities, e.g. TUEV, if required by the customer.
Repairs
artec AIS has prepared comprehensive services in the area of maintenance and repairs for
industrial clients and municipal operators. To ensure the security of the availability of
valves of different manufacturers, repair is often the most economical solution.
These services at our workshops are always available if on-site repairs are not possible,
critical or too costly, or the implemantation of our designers will be required.
Conversions of third-party valves
In the area of the factory refurbishment artec AIS performs economically complex
structural changes to third-party valves - regardless of manufacturer - to increase the life
time and durability of valves.
The aim of these measures is to change existing applications or problem-maintenance
types of valves in a way that the life time of these valves will be extended 7 to 10 times
more as before and that the need of spare parts and the operation stops due to
malfunction will be reduced by a multiple. All that will be realized without any change of
the original installation position of the referring valves in the piping system.
