That’s it?
April was a rewarding month for the Village. It was our pleasure to have a team of volunteers work with the
Special Olympics Area 13 Summer Games this year. Even the rain could not dampen the spirts of the children
participating in the games. The field was full of hopeful Special Olympic candidates hoping to win a ribbon.
Our group of residents and staff; Mia, Doris, Loretta, Mary, Cindy and Angela helped out in the concession, while
Kendall, John, and Roger ran the grill cooking burgers and hot dogs. All the volunteers proved to be a blessing to
the Special Olympic representatives. It was a great team effort. Thanks team for enriching the lives of those
special kids.
Spring clean-up in the City of Blytheville was another great volunteer day for the Village. We cleaned up
Louisiana Street all the way to the water tower. I can say without a doubt that our residents had more stamina and
perseverance than I did. Doris Marks at 92 can run circles around me. Congratulations team for a job well done.
Bingo is
GREAT!
I hope everyone is looking forward to Monday Night Out at the Café on Monday, May 18th. Our menu is spaghetti
with meat sauce, garlic bread and salad with carrot cake for dessert. Sounds delicious! Get your tickets early for
this great meal. There is also going to be a fashion show directly following the meal presented by WOW, which
you will not want to miss. We look forward to seeing you there.
Downtown Blytheville will be hosting Mayfest on Saturday, May 9. Come have a good breakfast at the Café and
then join in the fun downtown.
There have been new activities added to the calendar; a prayer group is now meeting at the Ramey center at 10 a.m.
on Monday’s after exercise, Bible Study is back on Monday’s at 3 p.m. and Canasta for everyone interested will be
on every other Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. starting on May 12. (continued on page 2)

(Continued from main cover)
There are also a couple of trips in May; a trip to check out the
Bass Pro Shop in Memphis and a shopping trip to Sikeston and
lunch at Lamberts. The Village Chapel will host Tommy
MacDonald and friends for gospel music on the first Sunday of
the month, May 3. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10 so invite
someone to join you at the Café to enjoy a great meal. Sharon
has also planned a Pre-Mother’s Day Gospel Music Special in
the Chapel at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 with a great Café
Social Saturday meal to follow in the Café. Sharon will also
host a special Café Social Saturday again on May 23.
The swimming pool is scheduled to open on May 22,
Memorial Day Weekend with water aerobics beginning the
first week of June. When the pool opens you know that
summer is finally here. The office will be closed on
Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. The calendar is full
of fun and exciting thing to do all month. Don’t be a
couch potato, get out and have some fun with your
neighbors. Check with the White Elephant to see if Fannie
Ruth could use some help in straightening out items for
sale. Fannie Ruth does an amazing job of bringing in
money to the Resident Funds but she also loves what she
does for the Village and the residents. A special thanks to
Fannie Ruth McKenna!!!
It is my hope that each resident of the Village will enjoy
the spring and summer months ahead. The yards are
looking great due to the diligence of our lawn crew and
their leader, Van Richardson. I would like to take this
occasion to thank all the employees of Westminster
Village for their thoughtfulness, hard work and dedication
to our residents, after all “It’s the little things” that make
our Village a wonderful place to live and work.
Sincerely,
Linda O’Guin
