SWINDON Robins SPEEDWAY SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES introducing . . . THEROBINS THERE’S nobody more passionate about Swindon Speedway than boss Alun Rossiter. The bubbly character is well known throughout the town and became the first Robins manager to lead the team to the top flight title since 1967 in 2012. That was after a stunning title success with Coventry in 2010 – yes, the man clearly has the magic touch… in fact, he could be termed Swindon’s very own ‘special one!’ Rossiter is delighted with the way the team has come together as the Robins hunt down another play-off place. He said: “When you look at the team we are delighted to have the very spectacular Peter Kildemand back with the club. He’s a great rider to watch and I know how much he enjoys riding Swindon. “He’s popular with the fans and when he blasts around the outside he is a joy to watch. He’s got a unique riding style for sure. “Troy Batchelor is a class act and I believe has what it takes to become a Grand Prix rider in the not too distant future. 2 www.swindonrobins.co “He’s beaten the best riders in the world during his career and here at Swindon over the last two seasons he’s helped us to the play-offs in both years. “He’s a solid performer who I know we can depend on when it comes to scoring the points at the top end of the team. “Simon Gustafsson has a good family pedigree. His dad was a world class rider, I raced against Henka many times and I believe we are still yet to see the best in the young man. “He’s been riding for Eastbourne throughout his British career so far and I firmly believe a move to Swindon will do him the world of good, it may help him progress to that next level because we have a much bigger and different track to Arlington. “Sometimes a change can do a rider good and I certainly hope that proves to be the case with Simon. “Nicolai Klindt comes from a generation of Danish riders who were widely regarded as the next greats. Denmark is a proud speedway country and I know Nicolai was highly rated as a youngster, but he’s just levelled out a bit since then. “On his day he’s a class rider, especially when he gets his gating gloves on and I’m sure he will fancy his chances of a big 2014 season. “It will be interesting to see how the young British lads go at reserve. Steve Worrall is a highly regarded rider, brother of Richie who has made great progress in the sport and I expect Stevie to kick on in Swindon colours. Rossiter is once again hoping the supporters and sponsors rally round the club and the team. “It’s been great to see everyone pulling together over the last few months for the good of the club,” he said. “And I thank all supporters and sponsors for their backing of Swindon Speedway as we go into another season.” www.swindonrobins.co 3 THESTRENGTHOFSPEEDWAY ASAGLOBALSPORT Speedway racing is one of the few motor sports that has continued to grow in status since the introduction of the Grand Prix in 1995. Each year more companies and international brands have participated in speedway and the competition has moved into some of the world’s most spectacular sports stadiums and attracted the world’s best stars to British speedway. Unlike other forms of motor sport, speedway racing takes place on an oval track inside a stadium facility. Therefore, this offers a unique selling point over most other forms of motor racing, as not only can the racing be viewed from any vantage point from within the stadium, but also the sponsors brands and logos can be seen more easily - thus providing more exposure. In the UK speedway meetings are shown live on Sky Sports TV throughout the season from March through to October on a Monday night including the end of season play-offs. Throughout Europe speedway attracts live TV coverage for league racing in Sweden, Denmark and Poland. Global footprints in over 230 countries providing a television audience of over 250,000,000 people. Speedway racing is traditionally second only to football in terms of weekly audience figures within the UK. The sport is staged at clubs on a weekly basis throughout the country. League racing provides the platform from which riders can progress to the Grand Prix. Swindon will have the current World Champion Tai Woffinden race against the Robins on several occasions in 2014 plus other leading 2014 Grand Prix stars. 4 www.swindonrobins.co www.swindonrobins.co 5 FAMILYSPORT Compared to other sports, speedway is the family sport in the country, it is trouble free and the stars of the sport are accessible. Children can get to meet their idol before and after meetings, the riders are often seen still signings autographs and having photographs taken well after meetings have finished. There is no need for segregation of opposing supporters and fans can easily mingle and enjoy a drink and banter whilst standing amongst fans from other clubs. THEAUDIENCE Speedway has traditionally attracted families, and it is proud of its family atmosphere that is generated at each event. This provides an enthusiastic but safe environment in which to enjoy the evening’s entertainment. It’s fans cover the age range from children to mature adults and also possess a strong hard core of support. A typical speedway supporter represents a broad cross section of the public, and is very knowledgeable about speedway racing. He or she can be seen on the terraces, wearing his/her favourite riders and/or teams’ colours. The supporter keeps in touch with developments, news and gossip through a variety of media outlets such as the sport’s publications, the Internet and the mobile phone. Although the sport attracts people with an interest in motorcycle racing - such as bikers - speedway has continued to appeal to supporters who are not necessarily motor sport fans. 6 www.swindonrobins.co Speedway ra cing is an intense, SPEEDWA exciting and dramat YRACING ic two hours Unlike other m of top class ra otorsport, Spe cing before th edway racing point over mos ousands of en ta kes place on t other forms thusiastic fans an oval track of motor raci . in ng si , as not only ca de a stadium also the spon facility.
