Dear Fellow Woodworkers:
2015 is the 35th year for Steve Wall Lumber Co. This year also
marks a change for Steve Wall Lumber Co. Since October 1,
2014, there has been a new person involved in the business.
I am very pleased to announce that Clint Dillon has become a
partner in the company. Clint has been with me for two years and
brings strong business and marketing skills to our company.
Clint is now the manager of operations. Clint and I, along with
the same staff will continue our business model of providing high
quality products to woodworkers across the country.
The cover of this catalog features a desk that I designed and built using some of our natural edge
walnut. It features a waterfall edge as one base support, and a piece of 150 year old Egyptian Iron
as the other base.
Clint and I look forward to serving your woodworking needs in the years to come.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON LUMBER PURCHASES
BOARD FOOT: Lumber is sold in this manner. Example: 1” thick, 6” wide & 2’ long = 1 bd. Ft.
MOISTURE CONTENT: All lumber is kiln dried to 7% - 9% M.C. except Cedar which usually runs 12% - 15%.
THICKNESS: Rough lumber is measured on the 1/4” system. 4/4 = 1” - 5/4 = 1-1/4” - 8/4 = 2” Most 4/4 is cut 1-1/8” and will plane to 3/4” or 13/16.
SURFACING: Most lumber we sell is in the rough. Generally it is better to plane and size wood just before it is put in the projects. We will surface
two sides for $ .25 bd. ft. on advance notice only. Wide belt sanding with a 120 Grit Belt is also available on one side for $ .20 bd. ft. Lumber must be
surfaced before sanding. Minimum sanding fee is $5. Custom wide belt sanding such as tops and doors $2 per minute. Straight line rip on one edge
is $.15 bd. ft. and will reduce bd. ft. 10% - 15%.
WIDTHS and LENGTHS: Our lumber comes in random widths and lengths. It usually ranges 4” - 12” wide and 8’ - 12’ long. Hardwood lumber is
not cut on the exact inch for width.
GRADES: Select yields 83% or better - used where large clear cuttings are desired. Log Run - a random sample of grades just as it comes from the
mill. 1 common yields a minimum of 66% - excellent for most small to medium projects. 2 common yields 50% - 70% - or better on small projects.
Sap Wood is not considered a defect.
QUANTITIES: We have no minimum purchase on orders picked up. There is a 100 bd. ft. minimum on orders shipped motor freight and UPS shipments are packed only in approximately 20 bd. ft. bundles.
Attention: Lumber, plywood, and machinery prices are tied very closely to fuel prices. We try to maintain published
prices for the duration of the catalog. In these uncertain economic times we may have to adjust prices if fuel continues to
increase. This may be done as a specific percent fuel surcharge or an individual item price increase. All changes will be
immediately reflected on our website. If ordering from this catalog please verify price when you place an order.

CUSTOM CABINET DOORS
Wall Lumber Company is pleased to offer custom made cabinet doors and drawer fronts. The price of our custom doors is based on wood cost plus the design
fee. To calculate door price determine the number of square inches in a door and divide by 144 to get total board feet per door. Multiply the number of board feet
by the price of the lumber. Multiply design fee by number of doors and add to total to determine cost. A set up fee of $3.00 per door will be charged on orders less
than 4 doors.
Solid wood doors will be 3/4” thick with a 5/8” panel. Each door is passed through a wide belt sander. This process leaves the door about 95% sanded. If
you wish us to give the final polish sanding add $3.00 per door. Door edges are square unless a profile is desired. A fee of $2.00 per door will be added for edge
profile.
When ordering doors and drawer fronts, please give the outside dimensions to the nearest 1/8”. All doors will be shipped FOB Mayodan by Ground Service or
Motor Freight. Add $1.00 per door for packing motor freight and $2.00 per door for Ground Service. Doors over 36” long cannot be shipped Ground Service.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON
MOTOR FREIGHT SHIPMENTS
Orders over 100 bd. ft. are best shipped motor freight. The
lengths usually are 8’-14’. Shipping rates are based on weight
and the distance it is shipped. We can give approximate rates
by phone or e-mail. Most trucking companies charge about
$15 to notify a customer before delivery. We only specify this
service on request from the customer. We always list the
customer phone number on the freight delivery ticket so the
trucking company can call for directions. There should be
no charge for that call. Some trucking companies charge a
residential delivery fee to private homes. Most woodworkers
use a trade name for their shop. We suggest you use it on
your ship-to address. Lumber shipments are bundled in lots
up to 500 bd. ft. and banded to skid blocks. Bands can be
broken on the truck and boards can be unloaded individually
at the destination. It is important to have someone to inspect
and receive the delivery when it arrives. All shipping charges
are collected by the trucking company. We will prepay shipping charges and guarantee maximum amount for a service
charge of $25.
Attention: Lumber, plywood, and machinery prices are tied very closely to fuel prices. We try to maintain published prices for the duration of the catalog. In
these uncertain economic times we may have to adjust prices if fuel continues to increase. This may be done as a specific precent fuel surcharge or an individual
item price increase. All changes will be immediately reflected on our website. If ordering from this catalog please verify price when you place an order.
