Another Successful Hockey Tournament!
The Fort Nelson Petroleum Association held its 6th Annual Oilmen’s Hockey Tournament
October 23 - 26 at the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Center. Sixty-six players
joined six sponsored teams, participating in the 5 on 5 format with the objective of having
a great time. And they did!
A very poplar event this year was the Shoot-to-Win contest. JR Capot Blanc was the last
man standing in the elimination draw and had a chance to win $25,000 if he could shoot
15 out of a possible 20 pucks into the gaping net from centre ice in 20 seconds. JR managed to get nine pucks in the net and was awarded $50.00 per puck for his efforts.

Construction, Ltd., Rosenau Transport, and Troyer Ventures Ltd. are key to the tournament’s success. Included with their sponsorship is the opportunity to have a representative as captain on the team, and most companies leverage this opportunity. This year the
committee decided to change the format somewhat with games started on Thursday night
at 7 and continued all day Friday and Saturday morning. The Championship Cup games
started at noon on Saturday.
Teams enjoyed an awards banquet on Saturday with food provided by Gourmet Girl. The
weekend was finished off with the closing of the silent auction items and awarding of the
raffle prizes.
