Spotlight on a Special Donor
Century Group Financial Solutions Inc.
Did You Know?
In 2008 we saw a 40%
increase in the number of
children served over the
previous two year period.
Our agency is growing
and meeting the needs of
our community’s children
through a variety of
programs.
Century Group Financial Solutions Inc. was founded in 2008 as a result
of a merger between Beynon Wilhem Stern & Wilson and Annett Fedy Financial
Services Inc. Collectively, the partners of Century Group have over 100 years
of financial planning experience serving Waterloo Region.
As a firm, we have a solid belief in giving back to our community to the
best of our ability. We believe we have a fiduciary responsibility to educate our
clients on the many benefits of including a charitable organization in various
estate planning strategies. We are pleased and honoured to support Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area as our charity of choice.
We look forward to supporting this
wonderful organization in any capacity we
can for many years to come.

“Since it looks like the timeline for our holiday will not allow my child to go to
camp this year, I would like to take the opportunity to allow another child to be
sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters to go in his place.

I am a firm believer in paying forward. Big Brothers Big Sisters has done so
much for my child over the last 3 summers by making sure that he goes to
camp, which he truly loved. I am sure that he will be back for next year, and he
is looking forward to doing the Leader-In-Training when he is old enough.
I hope this donation will help cover the cost of a child who is in the position of
wanting to go to camp and can’t due to financial reasons. We have been in that
situation in the past, so this is my little contribution to helping out.”

You did an amazing job as
ambassadors for our agency. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!
This year we were thrilled to have Jane Pickell, Public Relations Chair, CGA Ontario

Big Brothers Big Sisters 4th Annual Swing BIG Golf Classic
What an amazing day we had for our 4th Annual Golf Classic. Although much of our
spring has been very wet, June 15th was filled with sunshine and gentle breezes. Fun
and friendship was the order of the day, on and off the links. Trace’s Steel Band
provided music on the patio for everyone’s enjoyment topped off by a fabulous
barbeque and awesome prize table. Thanks to you we raised $17,090 from the
tournament. A highlight during dinner was a surprise presentation of $6,556 by our
Presenting Sponsor, Century Group Financial Solutions Inc. This brought our total
revenue for the day to $23,646! These funds enable us to continue to provide innovation
and important programs and services benefiting families in our area.
A special thank you goes out to our partners and sponsors: Century Group Financial
Solutions Inc., Heffner Lexus Toyota, Waterloo Region Record, FirstOnSite, Piller’s
Sausages & Delicatessen, TD Waterhouse Private Client Services, Automation Tooling
Systems, BDO Dunwoody, The Frank Cowan Foundation, Strassburger Windows &
Doors, Investors Group, CAA Travel, O.M.A.C., and Wolle Realty. We are most
appreciative of your support.

Diane and Fred Litt recently made the
personal choice to leave a legacy gift to
Big Brothers Big Sisters of KitchenerWaterloo and Area. Gert Hartmann and
I had the pleasure of sitting down with
the Litts recently to find out why. Diane
and Fred shared that they have both
been involved at arm’s length with the
Big Brother Big Sister movement – Fred
through his own brother who had been a
“Big Brother” and his relationship with
his “Little Brother.” Diane on the other
hand had been a long time supporter of our agency through our
annual fundraiser, Bowl for Kids Sake. Diane related that she had
come out as part of the Sears Canada bowling team for several
years and believed in the positive impact our services and
programs continue to have for kids in our community. Simple, but
so very, very thoughtful about what really matters in our lives. By
paying ahead both Fred and Diane know that they will be
providing new opportunities with positive results for children who
need that helping hand.
Big Brother Wolfgang
Bleckert and his friend Udo
Petersen are cycling across
Canada from Vancouver to
Parry Sound. Wolfgang
has volunteered as a Big
Brother since 2002. During
his involvement Wolfgang
has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment and devotion to
our agency, and more importantly, to the children he has
worked with. Wolfgang’s consistency, patience and sheer
enjoyment of his role as a Big Brother are what make him the
embodiment of what a Big Brother or Big Sister volunteer
should be. We are extremely grateful for all that Wolfgang has
and continues to do for the children in our community.
To date, Wolfgang and Udo’s cycling adventure has raised over
$4,000! To follow along with Wolfgang and Udo please visit
