065-onthemoney0414 OntheMoney Spring 2014 Millbury Savings Names Morton as President At its recent annual meeting, Millbury Savings Bank elected its first new president in 20 years. Robert J. Morton, previously the bank’s executive vice president and senior loan officer, has been named president and chief operating officer. He assumes the role of president from William J. Walsh, who last fall announced his plans to retire in January 2015. Bill will remain chief executive officer until then. “I am grateful for the opportunity to Robert J. Morton guide Millbury Savings Bank, and to work with the board of trustees to ensure the bank remains a vibrant, growing institution for many years,” said Rob. “Our financial strength, commitment to giving back to the communities we serve, and focus on delivering top-notch customer service are all keys to our future success.” Rob has been in banking for more than 25 years, with the last 14 at Millbury Savings. During that time, Rob has been active in our local community, most recently having served as an organizer of the 2013 Millbury Chain of Lights, as chairperson of the Millbury Bicentennial’s fundraising and finance committee and a member of its executive committee, and as a past president of the board of Millbury Dollars for Scholars, to name a few. Prior to joining Millbury Savings, Rob was vice president and commercial loan officer at Bay State Savings Bank and assistant vice president and commercial loan officer at Shawmut Bank, both in Worcester. In addition to his community activity in Millbury, Rob is a board member of Worcester Business Development Corporation and Worcester State University Foundation, a corporator of the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts, and a member of both the Swing for Wishes Golf Committee benefitting the Make-AWish Foundation, and the Worcester Economics Club. Rob holds a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University, a master of business administration from Clark University, and a certificate of advanced graduate study from Babson College. Lending successor named At the same meeting, newly appointed Senior Vice President Jason M. Faber also was named senior loan officer, succeeding Rob. He was also elected a bank corporator. Jason joined Millbury Savings this past winter from Jason M. Faber Peoples United Bank, where he spent seven years as a vice president in the commercial lending area, focusing on middle market companies with $1 million to $15 million in sales. Before that, he was a commercial lender in the large corporate market with Sovereign Bank. Jason holds a bachelor of science in Finance from Virginia Tech. Millbury Savings Elects New Chairman, Trustee, and Corporators Local attorney Peter F. Keenan, Jr., has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of Millbury Savings Bank. Peter has served as a member of the board for nine years and as a bank corporator since 1983. As a partner in the Millbury law firm of Keenan and Trudell, he concentrates in estate Peter F. Keenan, Jr. planning, estate administration, real estate, and real estate development. Peter received his juris doctor degree from Suffolk University School of Law, and earned a bachelor of arts from the College of the Holy Cross. He is a member of the board of directors of the KennedyDonovan Center and a member of various bar association committees and community organizations. A new face on the board Investment advisor J. Michael Grenon has been elected to the board of trustees, having been elected a bank corporator in 2011. He is vice president and a principal of Grimes and Company, Inc., a registered investment advisor located in Westborough, and is a Certified Investment J. Michael Grenon Management Analyst (CIMA). Mike is a graduate of Villanova University, earning a bachelor of arts in Economics, as well as Worcester Academy. Currently, he serves on the board of Worcester Academy where he chairs the investment committee and serves on the executive committee; is vice president of Catholic Charities of Worcester’s board and serves on their executive, nominating, and finance and investment committees; and serves on the investment committee for St. Joseph’s Abbey and the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts. Mike is a past president of both the Worcester Economics Club and the Worcester Young Businessmen’s Association. New corporators selected Craig L. Blais and Timothy Rassias were elected to the bank’s board of corporators. Craig currently serves as president and chief executive officer of the Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC), overseeing the $10 million non-profit corporation. Prior Craig L. Blais to joining the WBDC, he held several economic development positions in the city of Worcester, including chief development officer, and oversaw a variety of major infrastructure enhancement projects. He also served as a three-term selectman, including three years as chairman, in the town of Auburn. Craig earned both his master of public administration and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Framingham State University. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, and the Central Massachusetts Biomedical Initiative, and is a member of the board of trustees of Worcester State University. Tim is owner and managing partner of several central Massachusetts businesses, including Safeway Luxury Transportation, a full-service, non-emergency medical transportation company with 40 employees, and SpringHill Recovery Center, a 70-acre campus that provides residential substance abuse Timothy Rassias programs as well as clinical, mental health, and well-being services. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Tim is treasurer and a member of the executive committee and board of governors of Tatnuck Country Club, a coach for Holden Little League baseball, a board member of various neighborhood associations, and was previously a football coach for the Worcester Cowboys.
