Staff Farewell
June 2010
For the Class of 2010, graduation is looming nearer and nearer. While the confines
of high school will no longer define our lives, the quirks and treasures of YS will
suddenly be memories instead of everyday life. While many of us will continue on to
work environments and college campuses, home turf will always be Trojan territory.
We’ve moved past the Teddy Bear parade, gotten
over the orange and black day rivalry between East
York and Indian Rock (maybe not), and endured the
blue bathroom tiles of the Middle School building.
Any drama will soon fade from our memories and
solid friendships will remain—as long as Facebook
exists to keep in touch. The truth is, the last four
years have been a combination of all the people
we’ve met and all the experiences we’ve had, which
are aspects of life that will continue beyond York
Suburban.
Together, the seniors on the Tribune staff have
tried to capture the Class of 2010 in a few newspaper
pages. Our class is more than a jumbled list of
thumbs up and thumbs down, more than funny, yet
tacky superlatives. Collectively, we have mastered the art of racing to first period
when the one minute bell rings and we’re still in the senior wing, we have endured
research papers with nail-biting Russian roulette, complained about a woman named
Jane Schaffer, we have yelled at freshman for walking on the wrong side of the
hallway, we have happily enjoyed Friday night football games under the lights, and we
have obsessively collected rubber band animals. It’s been fun. And now, as soon to be
graduates of York Suburban High School, we will move on to bigger and better things.
Good luck!
Bailey Rehnberg, Editor-in-Chief

The Tribune is published six times a year
by the students of the York Suburban High
School. The newspaper, which is designed
as an open forum, serves to inform and
entertain its readers as well as train students
interested in journalism.
Students are encouraged to submit signed
letters to the editor. Letters may be given
to any staff member, turned in to room 111,
or emailed to bbedell@yssd.org. Letters
will be printed if space allows and may be
edited for content and grammar.

Advice
June 2010
Whitney Alakson – Respect yourself and have fun.
Josh Beamesderfer- Don’t wait for things to happen, make things happen. And
do not take the time to have in high school for granted, it goes by too fast.
Eric Bulgarelli – Avoid drama at all costs. It’s lame. Never take yourself too seriously.
Caitlin Carmody – Don’t let ‘the man’ keep you down! Always live like there is no
tomorrow, be loud, act crazy, get into trouble, do big things, and have fun.
You only go through high school once, make it memorable.
Marli Contino – Don’t wait until the last minute to read your re≠
searchbook.Anddon’tgetsenioritisuntilthelastmarkingperiod.
Nate Cozzens – Make the best of any situation. Get involved in sports or other activities and make new friends.
Kristyn Eshler – It’s alright to make bad decisions as long as you learn from them.
Kory Filson – Life’s short, don’t get caught up.
Jennifer Hall – Schedule time for yourself, because cutting out on
sleep and eating to make time is not a good idea.
Brady Hamberger – The more you hold back the more you’ll regret.
Stephanie Laucks – Be around the people and things
that make you happy. Everything else will fall into place.
Kasey Leland –
Don’t ever let a teacher tell you,
‘you are only average.’
Prove them wrong!
Cate McCullum – Try not to stress too much and just enjoy senior year.
Daniel McHugh – Keep it real between you and your true friends.
Michelle Millen – Everything changes so enjoy what you have while it lasts.
Andrew Moats – Enjoy every day of school because once high school is over you will miss it.
Ryan Mock – Time flies by so don’t forget to live up every moment

Thumbs up for Memories
June 2010
Class of 2010: Your enthusiasm for life never
went unnoticed. Whether devouring literature,
planning school activities, or encouraging others
to find their passion, you embraced all that high
school had to offer. Your class demonstrated the
ability to challenge the status quo respectfully
while furthering your goals, both individually and
collectively. Keep smiling and turning heads…….
Marcella Oathout, English Teacher
It has been a pleasure to be a small part of the class of 2010. Whether it has
been teaching U.S. Studies or History
Seminar, coaching boys’ basketball,
cheering on athletic teams, chaperoning Homecoming activities, watching
a class play, or enjoying the Musical,
the class of 2010 has always demonstrated a will to succeed and a desire to
do their best. I hope your experiences
at York Suburban will allow you to
achieve success and to reach your future life goals.
