Welcome to the 2011 LEEF Gala. I am honored to have been asked to serve as President of The Longmeadow
Educational Excellence Foundation (“LEEF”) during this tenth anniversary of our formation and I sincerely thank
you for supporting our organization and our children by attending the Gala tonight. As you may know, LEEF
is a private, volunteer, non-profit educational foundation that was created to enrich and enhance the quality of
education in the Longmeadow Public Schools. We are committed to underwriting grants to provide our teachers
and administrators opportunities for innovative educational and enrichment programs beyond the tax supported
budget. In the past ten years, we’ve raised almost two million dollars as a result of our fundraising efforts. We are
partners with the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts (“CFWM”) for investment and fundraising
support opportunities and LEEF maintains both a sustaining fund and a permanent endowment with CFWM.
Initially I became interested in LEEF after my children started attending elementary school, and I began hearing
about (and seeing) some of the great work LEEF was doing to enrich their educational experiences. Like many
board members, as the school year progressed, and after seeing the continued benefits LEEF grants bestowed on
my children, I became inspired to get involved and help continue the success of the organization. My years on
the board have required hard work, but also allowed me to see first hand the powerful impact this organization
has on our community. To make this year a success, I am lucky to have the overwhelming support of a wonderful
and talented Board of Directors (both past and present), incredible teachers and administrators, numerous hard
working volunteers, and the community whose continuing support and donations allow us to do the work we do.
My goal is to lead LEEF forward so that we continue to grow and improve the educational opportunities available
to the children in Longmeadow both now and into the future.
Although we have made tremendous progress over the past ten years, I am confident we will continue to grow and
improve over the next ten years. This year, we will continue to share with the community the innovative learning
opportunities that the teachers are providing in our public schools. In addition to our website, we are using social
media to connect with our supporters and publicize our events (find us on Facebook!). The Board of Directors will
again be working to develop and strengthen our planned giving and grant writing/research efforts, and as in the
past, we are reaching out to local businesses and institutions to seek their support as sponsors of our fundraisers.
In addition to tonight’s Gala, our phone-a-thon and Parent’s Fund Drive are scheduled for the Spring. When our
board members and volunteers have called your home to ask for your support, your expressions of gratitude on
behalf of your children and their teachers have been greatly rewarding. Your thoughts are what motivate us to
expand our fundraising initiatives. In addition to looking ahead, as it is the tenth anniversary of LEEF, we will also
reflect back on the hard work, effort and dedication of the LEEF Founders and Past Board members. Specifically,
tonight we will be honoring several of the founding members of LEEF. Without their hard work, initiative, and
foresight, we would likely not be here tonight and our Town would be a much different place. It is with my sincerest
gratitude that we extend our thanks to the LEEF founders on behalf of the entire Town of Longmeadow.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, the teachers and administrators, and our many dedicated volunteers, we thank
you for your support, generosity and confidence in our mission. Thank you for helping LEEF continue to grow,
and to reward our teachers with enhancement and enrichment tools that will inspire our children. Enjoy your time
tonight with your friends and our entire LEEF family, and let’s make this a truly happy tenth year anniversary.
Sincerely,
Justin H. Dion

LEEF Raffle
Terms of Sale
Your bid number is located on the back of this program.
Use only the bid number assigned to you for bidding on
silent and live auction items.
Raffle tickets are available before and during the Gala for
$10 each. Each ticket purchased puts you in a drawing
to win a 3D-HD tv with blu-ray player, valued at $1,200.
If you have not bought your raffle ticket yet, you may do
so tonight from one of the many student volunteers. You
have to be “in it to win it!”
Unless otherwise noted, all certificates for goods and
services must be used within one year of the auction
date. All items and services are subject to the terms and
conditions specified by the donors. Gift certificates are
for goods or services specified and have no cash value.
Gift certificates may not be redeemed for cash.
The Silent Auction opens at 6:30 PM. The minimum bid
and minimum raise for each item is written on the bid
sheet by the item. To be valid, bids must comply with
these minimums and be legible.
To place a bid, enter your bid number with your bid
amount on the bid sheet. Doing so constitutes a legal
contract to purchase that silent auction item at the
price you stated if your bid is the winning bid. The last
(highest) valid bid entered prior to the section closing
will be the winning bid.
The Auction Committee reserves the right to withdraw
any item at any time without notice before the actual sale.
In the event of a dispute, the Auction Committee shall act
as final authority in determining the winning bid.
While we will make every effort to close silent auction
tables at the precise times noted in the program, it is
possible auctions may remain open for a few additional
minutes to accommodate last minute schedule
adjustments. Announcements will be made before each
set of silent auction closings.
All items must be paid for by the end of the evening.
For your convenience, we gladly accept Cash, Check,
MasterCard and Visa.
Tax Information
The auction catalog lists the fair market value of each
item. Any amount you pay in excess of the fair market
value would normally be available to you as a charitable
contribution for tax purposes. Please check with your tax
advisor for specifics.
Pick-Up
It is the responsibility of the purchaser to locate and
remove his/her winning item(s) by the end of the
auction.
Live Auction
Fathers & Sons Tote Bags
Live Auction bidding will begin at 9:00 PM. When
bidding, please hold up your bid number toward the
auctioneer. The Live Auction will continue until all items
are sold.
Be sure to get your Fathers & Sons reusable tote before
you leave–the perfect vehicle to take home your auction
winnings! Totes will be available next to the coatroom
after the live auction.
If a group is bidding on one item, please designate one
person to place your combined bid. Auction items will be
awarded to one purchaser only.
A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract
to purchase the item.
13
Payment
All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds.
The Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation
does not make any expressed or implied warranties or
guarantees on auction items regarding quality or value of
items or services. Longmeadow Educational Excellence

items correctly, but all items are offered and sold “AS IS”
and “WITH ALL FAULTS.”
Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations
must be mutually arranged with the donor unless
otherwise noted. No refunds will be allowed on travel
packages for canceled tickets and/or accommodations.
By the buyer’s purchase, the buyer waives any claim for
liability against Longmeadow Educational Excellence
Foundation, its elected and appointed officials, members
and employees, sponsors, volunteers connected with
the auction, and/or the donor of the item. Neither the
Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation nor
