I am so excited to be sharing in the tradition of the Annual Auction with all of you and to be experiencing all of the new additions to this year’s event. Since its founding in 1992, FA has had one mission: to provide an excellent collegepreparatory education in a nurturing environment. Tonight’s event funds a major portion of our operating budget, and one hundred percent of the money raised goes toward programs that support our mission. The FA Spring Fest and Annual Auction is also an evening to celebrate the special community we have created together. Look around at the people sharing a table with you this evening—all of you have played a role in creating and sustaining the FA experience we all cherish. Thank you for your participation and support! There are so many people who have made this year’s FA Spring Fest and Annual Auction possible. I would like to thank all of our parent volunteers, led by Auction Chair Janny Sims, for the countless hours they have dedicated to making tonight a success. In addition, all of us here at FA are truly grateful to our donors, sponsors, and advertisers, without whom we wouldn’t be here tonight. Don’t forget—every dollar you spend tonight directly benefits the children of FA. Thank you again for joining us here in the “jungle”! Sincerely, Karen A. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”- Aristotle Because words can have the power to change lives in important and profound ways, Mrs. Garay’s and Mrs. Carroll’s 5th grade classes have endeavored to enrich their educational goals by including the study of motivating inspirational phrases. Each student has selected expressions to study that he or she have personally found meaningful. These timeless expressions encourage the students to reflect on and incorporate such qualities as honesty, initiative, confidence, personal excellence, hard work, enthusiasm, compassion and friendship. Mrs. Garay and Mrs. Carroll’s classes have lovingly created a beautiful mosaic mirror encircled with hand crafted mosaic stars. Each tile was personally designed by individual students and is emblazoned with his or her favorite expression learned this year. The tile mosaic surrounding each student’s chosen phrase is that student’s personal work of art. The second part of this auction project is a lovingly created memory book including photos of the entire class, photos of major events from the current year and individual student pages depicting each student when they entered lower school and a photo of each student in his or her final year of lower school. Each page will incorporate the student’s personally selected quotation. This memory book is a one of kind treasure. The owner of this mirror and memory book will have a lasting memory, not only of fifth grade, but of timely words that continue to inspire success. Value: Priceless 30.
