Dial A Ride Offering
Additional Services
Beginning April 2014, Dial A Ride will be
offering additional transportation services.
Wednesdays between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.
prescriptions may be picked up at Bel-Air,
CVS, Rite-Aid or Walgreens at Laguna &
Franklin Blvds. or Calvine Road & Elk Grove
Florin Road. On Mondays and Thursdays
between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. riders may
shop at Kohls (two locations), Walmart
(two locations), or Target on Laguna Blvd.
& Bruceville Road. A maximum of two
hours and three bag limit. Riders will only
be taken to the store closest to where they
reside. Please call Dial A Ride for more

Nominations for 2014-2015 Board of Directors
The Senior Center of Elk Grove is now accepting nominations for the positions of President,
Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and four at large directors. Nominations accepted from
the active membership may be submitted, in writing, to the Nominating Committee by April
11, 2014. Nominees must be members in good standing. Ballots will be included in the May
2014 Newsletter. Ballots must be returned to the Senior Center in person or by mail no later
than 4:00 p.m. May 31, 2014.

Earth Day Celebration
The City of Elk Grove will be hosting a Pre-Grand Opening
Celebration of the new Special Waste Collection Center located at
9255 Disposal Lane. The celebration will be on Tuesday, April 22,
2014 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and will
feature refreshments, kids’ activities, entertainment, a ribbon
cutting ceremony and tours of the new state-of-the-art facility.
The Special Waste Collection Center will be a drop off facility for
typical household hazardous waste. This new site will include
battery recycling; therefore, as of May 1, 2014 The Senior Center
of Elk Grove will no longer accept used batteries.

Monthly Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group. Meets at 10 a.m. the second
Wednesday of every month in the Senior Center of Elk Grove Classroom. The next meeting
will be on April 9, 2014.
Neuropathy Support Group Neuropathy Support Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every
month at 1:00 p.m. in the Senior Center SCEG Classroom. The next meeting will be held on
April 8, 2014. Anyone suffering from neuropathy and those supporting them are welcome.

Senior Brown Bag Program Elk Grove Food Bank Services available on the 3rd Thursday of
the month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 9820 Dino Drive, Suite 140. For qualification
requirements call Elk Grove Food Bank Services at (916) 685-8453.
Home Delivered Meals. Are you having a difficult time preparing a meal? Or are you
recovering at home after a hospital visit and in need of support? Meals on Wheels by ACC
provides hot or frozen lunches for seniors 60 years old and better who are homebound and in
need of nutritional assistance. Please call Meals on Wheels by ACC at 444-9533 for
more information.
Elk Grove Adult and Community Education (EGACE) Computer classes are available through
EGACE. All classes are held in the SCEG Computer Room. For more information or to register
