After 20 years and approximately
400,000 folds, our trusty folding
machine is “a-headin’-fer-th’-lastroundup.” Specifically, the rubber
belts, rollers, and bushings are all
worn out. Our copy machine repair
folks tell us that it will cost $500 in
parts and labor to fix. An internet
search reveals that a new one (same
model) is available for as little as
$878.91. So, it simply doesn’t make
sense to spend so much money to fix
such an old machine. (I could make
the same point about my prescription
co-pays).
We purchased it when we figured that
Vi Dentler was hand-folding over
10,000 pieces of paper a year. And
we are thrilled that while the folder is
worn out, Vi is doing just fine.
So, we’re looking for a donor,
realizing that it’s easier to find a
donor for something beautiful, that
lasts hundreds of years and that
people admire on a daily basis.
Face it, a folding machine is homely
at best. And nobody will stop by the
back room to admire your generosity. But if you’re a very special
person who is in the mood to
sponsor our version of “Charlie
Brown’s Christmas Tree” please let
us know.

There are two ways to keep up our beautiful
old church:
1. Find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow
and pay somebody else to do it.
2. Have a work day, which is more fun anyway.
So we’ll have a work day complete with hotdogs and refreshments beginning at 9 a.m.
on Saturday, September 15th.
We have lots of projects lined up, and there
is no one who can’t do something that
needs doing. So, come on down with your
sneakers, work gloves and blue jeans. No
excuses!
We will:
(1) replace ceiling tiles in the library,
(2) clean out the basement,
(3) remove an overgrown juniper bed in the
playground,

Build bonds of sharing, trust and spiritual intimacy
in the context of prayer, confidentiality and mutual
support.
Offer Prayers for healing on a monthly basis in
hopes that God will refill our reservoirs of love and
wholeness to faithfully serve God’s world.
This is an opportunity to experience the power of
sharing, knowing that “The Sharing is the Teaching,
and The Teaching is the Sharing” which empowers
us to grow together and grow in faith.
