PROJECT WITT, WEIDEN
Ergonomic workplaces for peak performances with
regard to efficiency and quality
For the mail-order company Witt, SSI SCHÄFER
planned and implemented a warehouse solution
of a pioneering character. The integration of RFID
technology into a warehousing solution, which is
based on the innovative SCS (Schäfer Carousel
System): 25 SCS carousels with 38,000 bin locations carry out up to 6,000 storage and retrieval
operations. A task, whose IT-basis is performed by
the warehouse management software „ant“ and
whose bin identification is carried out using RFID.
Data recording and the completion of data records,
if necessary, are carried out within split seconds.
The perfect and novel interaction of the automation areas of control, recording, and item flow
represents a cutting-edge model for innovative future ways in warehousing automation.
