77 Pct. Community Newsletter July 2014 A Message From The Commanding Officer….. Peace and greetings from the men and women of the 77th Precinct. I would like to thank everyone who continually support the efforts and excellence of the 77th Precinct, and pledge a sincere commitment to nurture and forge the successful partnership between the 77th Precinct and the dynamic Crown Heights community it proudly serves. It is through that viable partnership we become empowered to effectively address crime, traffic and quality of life concerns. Upcoming Community Events: Community Council Meeting– Place: NO MONTHLY MEETING FOR JULY & AUGUST Deputy Inspector Eddie C. Lott Clergy Council Meeting - Place: NO MONTHLY MEETING FOR JULY & AUGUST Community Board 8 Meeting– Place: From 05/26/2014 through 06/22/2014, the 77th Precinct has experienced a severe spike in gun involved violence; during that period there have been nine (9) shooting incidents that have claimed 12 victims, including two (2) homicides. In contrast to 2013, those numbers represent a 125% increase (9 versus 4) in incidents, and a 200% increase (12 versus 4) in victims. The aforementioned incidents are being investigated by the 77th Precinct Detective Squad, but remain open( not closed by arrest). Although additional police and investigative resources have been deployed to effectively address the gun violence, I am urging the 77th Precinct’s greatest resource , the community, to partner with the police and assist us in stopping this senseless violence. ―See something, say something!‖ pertains to the neighborhood terrorism in which 12 people have been shot within Crown Heights in a 28 day period.
