A Note from the Principal
PTO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
PTO success involves parent volunteers. Several of our PTO volunteers
are moving on to the Middle School next year. Even though you may not
have much free time, any help is appreciated. It is our hope that we can
gain new volunteers now to train with our outgoing
parents.
PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING THE PTO AND
BRING A FRIEND-IT’S FUN-IT’S REWARDING-IT’S FOR RIVERVIEW STUDENTS!
With cold weather upon us, please make sure
your students are appropriately dressed for
school/recess. It is important they have coats,
boots, snow pants, hats and gloves. It is also
important that names be written in each item
so they can be easily identified. Your child will
to go outside for recess unless we have inclement weather.
If your student needs to be dismissed early for an
appointment, please report to the office for assistance and sign him/her out. Students will be called
to the office with their belongings for pick up. Parents please call no later than 2:40pm if you are
picking up your child early. Notes can then go to
classrooms instead of last minute phone calls which
disrupt teaching time.
Students need to be in class during regular school
hours - 8am-3:15pm. Please avoid late arrival and
early dismissal to help your student be successful.
We value their education and every learning
opportunity.
COMING IN MARCH
Math and Reading Night
March 3rd - 2nd grade-6:30-7:30pm
March 10th - 3rd grade - 6:30-7:30pm
March 17th - 4th grade - 6:30-7:30pm
Mrs. Kirinovic's second graders spent the month of January observing fossils, imprints, and skeletons and observing
the charactistics of dinosaurs. The students studied the phases and rotation of the moon, also the rotation of the
earth as well. Students ended their unit of study by making creative dinosaur projects which they proudly displayed in
the library at Riverview.
Riverview 2nd graders participated in the "Kids, Cats and Dogs" program. The Mecosta and Osceola County Foundations have approved and funded grants for this program.
The presentation consisted of a short discussion appropriate for the grade level of the children. The talk was
about caring for a pet, how to approach a strange dog or cat, why animals are spayed/neutered. Each dog handler
talked about his dog, its breed and its current jobs.( some dog teams volunteer at the hospital, some go to schools
and nursing homes) Also the program supplies dog/cat food to families that need help feeding their dog/cat.
RIVERVIEW WINTERFEST
On March 1st the Riverview Staff is
planning a fun event at Cran-Hill Ranch
in Rodney, MI. This trip will kick off
“March is Reading Month.” Students
will be able to snowshoe, play broomball, go tubing on 3
hills, cross country ski, (pony rides for 2nd graders only),
drink hot cocoa and roast marshmallows. Each child
should bring $3.00 to cover the cost of these activities.
Please have your money turned in by February 24th.
Thank you to all the students in choice
time that made Valentine’s for our
service members serving overseas.
Thank you as well to Daggett and
Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home for
contacting Riverview and inviting us to
participate in “Operation Valentine”.
They said it was a success!
RIVERVIEW
ROCKS!
We plan to eat lunch at school from 11:15-12:00, load
buses and head to the ranch by 12:30. Thanks to the
PTO for covering our transportation cost!
School staff will be accompanying
and assisting the students on the
buses but if you would like to join
us, please meet us at the ranch.
