MOUNTAIN VIEW ARTS SOCIETY 2016 SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES BECOME A CHAMPION FOR ARTS, CULTURE & HERITAGE WHILE INVESTING IN YOUR COMMUNITY! We've got three great "artsy" events planned this year, the 5th Annual "A Brush With Art" Art Show & Sale in April, the 6th Annual Mountain View Arts Festival in September, and a new event, "Days of Yore", planned for the "August" long weekend. With a little luck, all will help us raise funds for the Arts Society, all will bring lots of people to Didsbury and Mountain View County, and all three will be a lot of fun. The set-up and just everything was done so well!" "I should have been in this show! I’ll apply for sure next year." "I loved that there were different mediums. The Intarsia, the birdhouses, stained glass. It was all wonderful!" DID YOU KNOW? There were 16 artists at the 2015 Art Show & Sale - from Didsbury, Calgary, Innisfail, Airdrie, Olds, Crossfield, and Leduc. Six artists took advantage of a chance to share "how they make art" in our "Artist's Window". Along with two artists painting, we also had a wood carver, a stenciler, a photographer, and a paverpol artist. Great variety! 639 "People's Choice" ballots were completed! The Mountain View Arts Society was named Didsbury's Not-For-Profit Society of 2015. Why? "Thank you sooooo much for putting on the event. Had a blast as usual!" We actively encourage community participation. Art Show visitors learn about various art processes during the Artists' Window. Overheard at the Arts Festival Everything we do is about community partnerships. In 2015, we shared resources and talents with Didsbury Historical Society, Mountain View Model Railroad Club, Westglen Middle School, Town of Didsbury, Zion Thrift Store, Bergthal Mennonite Quilters, Olds Regional Exhibition, Didsbury Fire Department, Didsbury Lions Club, Didsbury Out-of-School Care Society, Ladies of the Royal Purple, "It was amazing … be warned though … you may need to drag your children out at closing time. Our kids had an absolute blast and didn’t want to leave." "Really enjoyed the all-day music. Was a relaxing weekend. I did not anticipate this!" Didsbury Seniors Support Services, Friends of the Didsbury Library, Mountain View Parent Link, Sarcee Fish & Game Association, Sew Crazy Quilters Guild, Threads of Kindness, Didsbury Municipal Library, Didsbury Chamber of Commerce, Didsbury High School and the Leadership Team. We respect our volunteers. They have opportunities to share their talents, and to learn skills to help them grow. The Arts Festival had 152 volunteers offering 2,376 person hours. We work with municipal, provincial, and federal governments to promote the arts, bringing "new money" into Didsbury, and doing "The community spirit is wonderful. I like how there are many different venues and a bus connects them - more people discovering the festival." Presented with great hospitality! The music, food, the sound system, and the Metis dancers, great history. Excellent! what we can to lessen the burden on our local business community and to promote Didsbury. We applied for, and have been accepted to host a casino in 2017, as we work to ensure sustainability. BECOME A CHAMPION FOR ARTS, CULTURE & HERITAGE WHILE INVESTING IN YOUR COMMUNITY! Mountain View Arts Society - 2016’s Events Art Show & Sale, April 9 & 10 This will be the 5th year the Mountain View Arts Society acts as hosts for the art show during the Trade Expo. It features artists from Didsbury and the surrounding communities of Olds, Carstairs, Cremona, Sundre, Mountain View County, and our neighbouring communities. Proceeds from all sales go directly to the artist. A very popular component in the show is our “Artist’s Windows”. These areas shed light on the artistic process, how artists make art, as each artist has an opportunity to practice their craft, opening a window into the lives of artists as they go about their work. Days of Yore, July 30 & 31 This event will take place at the new Rosebud Park, and will entertain and educate the general public through first person interpretation and re-creation of historical events. Featuring the Sons of Fenrir Vikings, Dragons Own Medieval Combat Group, WWII First Special Service Force Re-enactment Group, The Cannoneers, & the 78th Fraser Highlanders Group. By combining historical realism with a touch of fantasy, our guests will offer a show that will thrill and entertain young and old alike. A re-enactment event with such a wonderful variety of historical opportunities has never been done before, and we have great hope that it will bring out-of-towners to Didsbury. Just as importantly, it is consistent with our mandate to promote all that is arts, culture, and heritage. There will be arts and crafts, music, Highland dancing, and battles. Mountain View Arts Festival, September 10 & 11 For the 6th year in a row, Didsbury will be bursting at the seams with artists of all kinds! The traditional Arts Festival you have come to know and love will have a few changes this coming year. The 2016 edition will be held entirely indoors, giving both our artists and volunteers a break from the challenges of an outdoor festival. There are many opportunities for our young people to display their artwork throughout town, and of course, we will be promoting the permanent pieces donated to the Museum by professional adult artists, and Festival Collaborative Art Pieces from our previous festival participants on display at the Library. 2016 Sponsorship Packages Gold Sponsor - $1,000 - $1,999 Logo inclusion in all print materials (programs, ads, posters, brochure).
