of time. Detailed arriving information is available at www.
frankfurt-airport.com/en.
Tip: Evening-Before Check-in

items are screened for prohibited objects. You can view the
list of prohibited items at www.frankfurt-airport.com/en.
Your checked bags are automatically scanned. It may
occasionally be necessary to open a bag without you being
present. Lock them in the usual way, but please do not use
any padlocks.
Luggage Carts Luggage carts are available at more than 100 dispensers
around the airport at a cost of €1.00, which can be paid
using coins and in many cases also by credit or debit card.
Dangerous Goods
A list of items that you may and may not pack in
your checked luggage and carry-on bags is available at

Transfers
Made Easy
How to catch your connecting flight at Frankfurt Airport quickly and conveniently
Do you already have a boarding pass
for your connecting flight?
Yes. Please double-check the
gate indicated on it. Current
information on your flight is
shown on the monitors. If
no gate has been assigned
yet, head for the indicated
pier (A, B, C, etc.).
No. Within the transit zone,
please go to the transfer
counter of the airline
operating your flight or
straight to the departure
gate, or ask at an information
counter. You should obtain
your boarding pass from your
airline‘s check-in counter
before passing through
security.
Finding your way around
Blue signs:
you’ll find Piers A, B, C and Z
in Terminal 1 and Piers D
and E in Terminal 2.
Gray signs:
these show the way to passenger services.
14
Transfers Made Easy
Transfers Made Easy
Should I allow extra time
for passport and security
controls?
In most cases, you‘ll have to
pass through security and
passport controls when
transferring planes. Please
allow enough time for these.
If you are in a hurry to catch
your connecting flight, you
can save time by using one
of the “Fast Lanes” through
security. Monitors list the
current flights for which
passengers may use a “Fast
Lane”.
Please observe the restrictions on carrying liquids
in your hand luggage.
Do you need assistance?
gI
nformation kiosks: scan your boarding pass, and all the information relevant to your flight will be displayed
(including terminal maps, shops, restaurants and
lounges).
gInformation desks: our multilingual service staff will be
happy to help you (see terminal maps for locations).
gM
obile Service Guides: can be identified by their red
uniforms.
gF
rankfurt Airport app: available for all smartphones.
Transfers Made Easy
15
Please also listen out for the PA announcements
and be aware of the local time in Frankfurt. And please
be sure to get to your departure gate before boarding
starts. The end of the boarding time does not correspond with the departure time. Consult your boarding
pass to see when that is. Please note that gates may
change at short notice, so keep checking the infor
mation boards and monitors.
How can I easily cover large distances at the airport?
gM
oving walkways: take advantage of our many moving
walkways throughout the airport.
gS
ky Line train: if you need to transfer between Piers A,
B, C or Z (in Terminal 1) and Piers D or E (in Terminal 2),
follow the signs to the Sky Line (it runs every 2 to 3
minutes).
What about my luggage?
In most cases, your checked
luggage will be automatically forwarded to your final
destination. If not, you must
collect it at the baggage
claim and then recheck it. If
you are continuing your
journey with Deutsche Bahn
and a Lufthansa flight
number to Cologne (QKL),
Düsseldorf (QDU), Karlsruhe
Hbf. (KWQ), Kassel (KJR),
Stuttgart (ZWS) or Siegburg/Bonn (ZPY), you will receive
your luggage at the AIRail baggage claim at the long-distance train station.
