Security Management System - Honeywell Integrated Security
Security Management System
NEXSENTRY COMMAND CENTER WITH
WINDOWS NT OPERATOR STATION & UNIX SERVER
SPECIFICATION DATA
KEY FEATURES
NEXSENTRY COMMAND CENTER represents a major step in the evolution of WSE’s most advanced security
management system. Its new, easy-to-use graphical user interface brings the power of this proven
security management system within the reach of any operator. Operated using Windows NT Operator
Stations and powered by a UNIX server, NexSentry Command Center is a multi-user, multi-tasking
security management system that monitors thousands of access points and reports all transactions to
one or more security centers in real-time.
Since it uses advanced modular architecture, NexSentry Command Center can be easily customized for
the specific needs of any application. In its basic configuration, NexSentry Command Center performs
the following functions: access control; alarm monitoring; audit trail; reporting; system diagnostics, and;
graphical maps. The Maps module gives operators point-and-click monitor and control of an entire
security network. System functionality can be expanded by simply adding the modules necessary for
specific applications. Optional modules include the following: Photo ID, CCTV, Alarm Networks, HVAC,
Elevator Control, Time and Attendance, Guard Tour, Parking Lot and Revenue Control, and Visitor
Electronic Directory.

clearance that can be
controlled by door, time of day,
and day of week, and by a date
or range of dates
Decision Processing:
Centralized, Distributed, Deferred
• Allows decision-making
capabilities to be centralized in
Servers, LC and RLC
workstations, or distributed to
the access control units
Two-man rule
No access unless two individuals
with valid access privileges
present their keys
OPTIONS
In a world with highly sophisticated
access control needs, there’s no
such thing as a “Typical”
installation. This makes it
important to install a security
management system that does the
following:
• seamlessly integrates with the
security network
• is flexible enough to be tailored
specifically for the varied needs
of the installation
• will change and expand as the
needs of the organization grow
• can easily integrate new
technologies as they are
introduced
CCTV
Time and attendance
The CCTV module allows CCTV
cameras to be activated upon an
alarm or when someone presents a
card to a reader. User-definable
preset position of pan, tilt, and
zoom eliminates guard guesswork;
but, also allows camera operation
by a guard at an Operator Station.
Operators can control multiple
cameras on any monitor.
The Time and Attendance module
allows NexSentry Command
Center to automate the capture of
hours worked, providing error free
input data to a payroll system.
Elevator Control
Elevator Control allows a system to
monitor and control access to
elevators and/or individual floors.
When a cardholder presents a key
to a reader inside the elevator, the
system will activate only the floor
buttons authorized for that person.
Guard tour monitoring
This level of flexibility is built into
NexSentry Command Center
through its modular design and
open architecture.
The Guard Tour module allows a
NexSentry Command Center
system to be used for defining,
scheduling, monitoring and
reporting guard tours using both
readers and contact input points as
tour stations.
The following are descriptions of
some optional features and
applications that can be integrated
with a NexSentry Command
Center system:
Photo ID: NexSentry
Imaging Solutions
Advanced report
generator
NexSentry Imaging Solutions
seamlessly integrate advanced
DataCard photo ID capabilities with
NexSentry Command Center.
Compliance with industry standard
database protocols allows
NexSentry Imaging Solutions to
share database functions with
NexSentry Command Center.
An Advanced Report Generator
program allows users to create
their own custom reports.
Audit trail
Audit Trail provides a complete
history of data changes made to a
NexSentry Command Center
system by documenting all
changes made to the database
(excluding system generated
transactions or logs). The Audit
Trail provides the user with a
“before and after” image of the
data.
SYSTEM MODULARITY
NexSentry Command Center’s
modular system architecture
allows users to add features as
their needs grow. It also allows
integration of third party
applications with WSE’s access
control and security management
systems
3
Parking and Revenue
Control (PARC)
PARC allows operators to control
access to, and the revenue
generated by, a parking facility.
PARC supports access control of
cardholders and the cashier
function normally associated with
transient parkers.
Redundant system
support
NexSentry Command Center’s
Server/Client architecture allows
redundant system support that can
accommodate a manual switchover, at which time the pollers will
be activated on the Server.
Visitor Electronic
Directory
Visitor Electronic Directory allows
NexSentry Command Center to
track visitors who are not issued an
ID credential. This system also
automates the printing of visitor
badges but also provides a
permanent log of every visitor and
who they were visiting.

NEXSENTRY COMMAND CENTER SECURITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
CONFIGURATION
N EXS ENTRY C OMMAND C ENTER is
equally at home in a small singlelocation environment as it is in a
large multiple-location network. Its
architecture provides for a level of
performance and range of system
sizes unmatched in the access
control industry. Systems are
easily configured using the basic
building blocks listed below.
Server
The server is the heart of a
NexSentry Command Center
security management system. A
single UNIX-CPU, the server
provides all of the capabilities to
manage access and alarm activity.
A server will download all
necessary information for system
operation to any attached Local
Controllers (LCs), Remote
Location Controllers (RLCs) or
Remote Dial-up Interfaces (RDIs)
and Access Control Units
(Controllers).
NexTerminal
Operator Station
System operators monitor and
control activity in the access
control network using NexTerminal
Operator Stations (NexTerminals)
that run on Windows NT clients.
Because they use an intuitive
graphical user interface,
NexTerminals allow operators to
easily perform all access control
and alarm monitoring functions
without knowing that a powerful
UNIX server is at the heart of the
security network.
Local Controllers
(LCs)
LCs support real-time monitoring
and decision-making in large
scale, high performance or
redundant single location systems,
while the server retains overall
control of file management and
reporting. LCs store information
about access and alarm events,
uploading it to the server upon
request.
