Director’s Notes
I want to thank all the members
that came out to help with the BOPC
Swap on Saturday for setup and on Sunday for the swap. It looked like the day
was a success by the number of vendors,
visitors and the weather. We will keep
you informed on the final numbers as
they become available.
Over the next few months, we will
be having our regular monthly meeting at
other locations besides the Lodge in Villa
Park. The April meeting will be a food
pantry night at the Lodge while the May
meeting will be held at the Castle Buick
Show in May. Don Adams is in charge of
this show, so please plan on attending to
support the work that Don is putting into
this show for us. There should be more
on this show elsewhere in the Flash.
As spring approaches more activities will be available, so please check the
calendar and attend the ones you can.
The GS Club also has activities that many
of our members will be attending.

Extra – Extra Read All About It!!
Melanie Mauser our longtime active member, who has been suffering
without an old Buick for many years, has finally found her dream car!!
None other than a 1970 Skylark GS 455 coupe! This was a “déjà-vu”
moment for Mel as she owned a similar car in the late ‘70’s before losing it in a tragic fire. It is green with green interior and I’m sure will
have several people green with envy when they finally see it. Congratulations Melanie – good luck and don’t forget to carry a fire extinguisher!!

2012 BOPC Wrap Up Meeting
On Thursday March 15th all of the clubs involved with the Swap Meet held the final
meeting for the 2012 event to settle all of the outstanding issues and to close out the
books on a very successful Swap. There were suggestions mentioned at our last Chapter meeting and several others from the Olds and Pontiac groups that will be implemented to improve the event next year. Among them; flyers will be printed in bulk
(5000?); we will try to set up 2 hour blocks of time so people can volunteer with a
friend for a specific time and assignment; we will set the times of the swap from 8am
to 2pm; we will assist the vendors in cleaning any snow from their vehicles before
they enter; vendors will not be allowed to bring their vehicles back into the building
to load up until later in the swap (they can always take their stuff out by hand cart);
we will try to clear out the building at a reasonable time to avoid people standing
around talking when we want to close up; the pizza party will be held AFTER the
swap to reward those people that actually contributed; next year the swap will be held
on February 24th with our Chapter taking the lead. John Arpan has agreed to represent our Chapter for the 2013 Swap. Thanks John! The three clubs involved each received $2380 from the proceeds. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!

CCBCA March 7 th Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Steve Kelly
Member information – Joe Petrick had a minor stroke; it was asked if anybody heard from
Kozars (I did get a Christmas card from them through their daughter Kaaren the week of 3/18
with a note they were doing well and would love visitors or calls. (editor))
Treasurer report – we’re still solvent
Steve reported on the BOPC Swap Meet and took comments/suggestions. It was suggested that
the meet be held at a later date, that the vendors be encouraged to stay later and that vehicles
not be allowed in the building until after most of the crowd has died down. All members that
worked at the Swap were thanked for their assistance and any whose names were not on the
list were asked to sign up.
The Steering Meeting was discussed (see the report elsewhere in this newsletter)
Melanie Mauser was congratulated on the purchase of her “new” Buick.
We discussed other swap meets that have passed.
We talked about future events and the fact our Chapter meetings will be changing locations
through the year (see the “Calendar of Events” and watch this newsletter for more details!!)
Melanie is planning a tour to the Buick Heritage Museum.
We discussed For Sale and Wanted items (see the list).
Don Adams reported on the World of Wheels Show.
Meeting adjourned at about 8:35.

Steering Meeting minutes 2/13/12
On Monday Feb. 13th several of us met at Sweet Baby Ray’s Bar-B-Q in Elk Grove for
our first planning meeting of the year. Thanks to Jim Bloomstrand, Lucky Melanie
Mauser, Don Adams, Steve Ledger, Darryl Powell (all the way from northern IN),
Rick Schick and Loyd Bonecutter for attending. (Remember these meetings are
open to all members!!) After a good meal (and a couple beers) we discussed the following;
The BOPC Swap Meet that we are a part of and provided volunteers for.
We set the dates and locations for most of our Chapter meetings (see the Calendar of Events).
We discussed Chapter Car Show dates and possible tours, Cruise Nights, a Fair
Oaks Farms tour, a Casino Tour, a tour to the Detroit/Dearborn area, and a tour to
the Gilmore Museum in Kalamazoo MI. We also discussed our Spring Dust-Off at
Castle Buick (thanks Don Adams), a possible show at Rizza Buick-Cadillac, a possible Marquardt Dealer Show, and a possible Schepel Buick dealer show. All are tentative, watch this newsletter for updates.
We had a lengthy discussion about our Chapter hosting the 2013 Heartland Regional Show which resulted in our requesting guidance from our Regional Director.
Due to the fact the 2013 BCA National Meet is being held in South Bend IN, we felt
that having a Regional Show so close in proximity to the National may result in a
poorly attended event. We did approach the National Office about holding a combined National/Regional but were rebuffed. At the meeting we discussed either
hosting a “pre-National” tour in the south suburbs the weekend before the National
or postponing our Regional meet responsibility until a later year. Watch this newsletter and attend the Chapter meetings for more information on all of these topics.
ALSO plan to attend our next Steering Meeting on June 18 th.
GS Club Chili Cookoff
The annual Chicagoland Chapter GS Club Chili Cookoff was held in Darien March
11th and several of our members attended and participated in the event. 14 different
chili’s were entered and each was unique and delicious. The winner found his recipe
in a 1960 Betty Crocker cookbook! Congratulations to Brad Berger on his 4th place
award!
