Family winery Traditional winemaking Award winning wines Brenda & Chris Lynch Since 1995 ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Mutt Lynch Winery Mutt Lynch Winery was born in 1995 combining Chris & Brenda Lynch’s mutual passion for wine and “all things dog.” Their motto is: “Apply Dog Logic to Life: Eat Well, Be Loved, Get Petted, Sleep A lot, Dream of a Leash-free World” – Sark Winemaker Brenda Lynch… Chris Lynch dreamed of owing his own winery and started as winemaker – books, courses, not one ounce of natural production sense. Brenda quickly took over – no books, no courses, but a natural sense of "what to do" in the cellar. Wine quality has been outstanding ever since! Patch… The winery dog… well sort of. Patch’s idea of helping out at the winery looks suspiciously like his activities at the house - find the most comfortable place available, lie down, fall asleep, move only if forced to do so. Forklifts and picking bins seem to be in “his” way, not vice-versa. Winemaker Brenda Lynch and Patch, their rescue Greyhound ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Winemaker Brenda Lynch Winemaker Brenda Lynch has been making wine since the 1995 vintage, and full-time focus on Mutt Lynch since 1998. Vintages in California and Argentina Lynmar Winery, Rutz Cellars, Hartford Court, Long Vineyards, Mariposa Winery (Argentina). Fulltime for Mutt Lynch Winery since 1998 “I am not a Davis trained enologist. I know how to turn good grapes into wine I enjoy drinking.” Winery location since 1996 in Healdsburg, CA. Traditional winemaking philosophy Vineyard focus to get ripe, true varietal character at harvest. “Don’t “F” it up in the winery”. Minimal manipulation to let fruit be the hero. Oak aging to complement a wine’s fruit, not overpower it. Mutt Lynch Winery ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Wine Portfolio Winemaker Brenda Lynch produces two tiers of wines: Dog Series Central Coast Vineyards North to south climate diversity suited for cool climate whites to warm climate reds. Brenda Lynch winemaking “It’s all about the fruit.” Winemaking and aging to emphasize ripe varietal fruit and rich mouth-feel. Canis Major Limited production, signature Reserve wines. The constellation Canis Major is known as “The Greater Dog”… a fitting name for Mutt Lynch’s “Big Dog” wines. Vineyard expressions from Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley. Perotti Vineyard Unti Vineyard ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Canis Major Canis Major are Mutt Lynch’s Reserve wines. Brenda Lynch focuses on producing wines that have varietal typicity and vineyard expression. Traditional winemaking Small lot fermentation in open top tanks. Gentle processing with hand punch-downs during fermentation. 100% barrel aged in French oak, with new oak regimes (cooper choice and percentage of new oak) tailored to each varietal. Vineyard expressions Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County appellation. Grower “handshakes” for Brenda’s blocks. Wines: Perotti Vineyard Zinfandel, Unti Vineyard Syrah, Perotti Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah. Limited production Barrel by barrel selection for final blends. Less than 300 cases produced of each vintage. Brenda Lynch and Grower Bruce Perotti ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Dog Series For her Dog Series wines, Brenda focuses on producing wines that are fruit driven, ripe in texture, balanced, with little to no oak expression. Each name and label evokes it’s wine style. Dog Series wines Unleashed Chardonnay Unwooded equals “Unleashed.” Ripe fruit, lush texture. No oak. Fou Fou le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc A savvy without a hint of oak character. Feminine. Clean & crisp. Merlot Over and Play Dead This is not a wimpy Merlot. Rich, ripe Merlot fruit. Portrait of a Mutt Zinfandel Always a blend, thus a “mutt”. Zinfandel & Carignane. Classic Zin. Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon The “king” of grapes. Young, vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA “It’s In the Bottle” Over 135 medals have been won in prestigious wine competitions over the past two years, including 12 Gold and 1 Double Gold Medals.¹ Portrait of a Mutt Zinfandel Unleashed Chardonnay Canis Major Zinfandel GOLD ♦ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2005 GOLD ♦ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2004 Silver ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2006 Silver ▪ San Diego Wine Competition, v2006 Bronze ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2007 GOLD ♦ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2008 Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2008 Silver ▪ Pacific Rim Int’l Wine Competition, v2008 Silver ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2008 Silver ▪ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2008 GOLD ♦ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2005 Silver ▪ Grand Harvest Awards, v2007 Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ San Diego Wine Competition, v2006 Silver ▪ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2007 Silver ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2007 Merlot Over and Play Dead GOLD ♦ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2006 GOLD ♦ LA International Wine Competition, v2005 GOLD ♦ SF International Wine Competition, v2005 Silver ▪ Pacific Rim Int’l Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2007 Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon Silver ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ Pacific Rim Int’l Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2007 Bronze ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2007 ¹ September 2007 to July 2010 ©2010, Mutt Lynch Winery, Healdsburg, CA Fou Fou le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2008 Silver ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2008 Bronze ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2008 Bronze ▪ National Women’s Wine Challenge, v2008 Bronze ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2008 Canis Major Petite Sirah GOLD ♦ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2007 GOLD ♦ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2006 GOLD ♦ Orange County Wine Competition, v2006 GOLD ♦ SF International Wine Competition, v2006 Silver ▪ Grand Harvest Awards, v2007 Silver ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ San Diego Wine Competition, v2006 Silver ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2007 Silver ▪ Dallas Morning News Wine Comp., v2007 Canis Major Syrah DOUBLE GOLD ♦ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2004 GOLD ♦ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2006 GOLD ♦ Grand Harvest Awards, v2005 Silver ▪ California State Fair, v2006 Silver ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2006 Silver ▪ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2006 Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2005 Silver ▪ LA International Wine Competition, v2004 Canis Major Cabernet Sauvignon Silver ▪ SF Chronicle Wine Competition, v2005 Silver ▪ SF International Wine Competition, v2005 Silver ▪ CA State Fair Wine Competition, v2005 Silver ▪ Sonoma County Harvest Fair, v2004 Silver ▪ San Diego Wine Competition, v2004 Silver ▪ National Women’s Wine Competition, v2005 “It’s In the Bottle” Hot off the press, some new reviews just in for the new release 2009 Fou Fou le Blanc SB… Wine Enthusiast Magazine – October 2010 Buying Guide 88 Mutt Lynch 2009 Fou Fou le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc (Central Coast); $14.
