We have a different school with different rules and different uniforms because we want to offer a different kind of education than other schools. The success is in our numbers: we are the only Exemplary high school and middle school in all of Brownsville. We are now the only nationally ranked high school and the highest performing middle school in Cameron County. We are ranked number #11 in the state of Texas by U.S. News and World Report. We are different. Even among the great IDEA schools, we are different. We had more AP scholars this last year than all other IDEA schools combined, which means we had more students pass AP tests and get credit in college than any other! With the new Texas ratings coming out, we received the highest distinction from the state. We are making a difference. Most importantly, we want your students to have greater opportunities for their futures. We want to develop students who take responsibility for their actions, who learn to make good decisions, who do Whatever it Takes to learn and to grow, who are respectful, who are honest, who help each other, and who have the determination to Sweat the Small stuff, both in school culture and in academics. We all want our students to be the leaders, the thinkers, and the doers of tomorrow. Because of this, we will continue to hold all of our students to high standards in every aspect. We will continue to challenge them, developing their minds and increasing the skills that will lead to success throughout life. This year, we will be trying to build upon the legacy that our school has started, and we know we will need help and support of all of our students’ families and supporters. It takes a village to raise a student, and we are honored to be part of your students’ lives. We look to you, our parents, to be our partners in creating bright futures for all of our students. Thank you for all you do, and we look forward to a successful year, Michael Hardy, Principal
