We are a community of Christians who:




Believe that God Loves everybody
Laugh a lot
Don’t have all the answers
Relish the growth that comes from struggling with the questions
together
 Like to sing, play, and make a joyful noise unto the Lord
 Realize that creation isn’t finished, and we’ve got work to do.
Thank you for attending our auction and we do hope you will visit us
again for a Saturday Spanish language service or Sunday morning. Also
see our web page for current information on times or visit our Facebook
page to learn more about our church family.
All are welcome at our table.

From Our Rector- The Rev. Thomas Eklo
Welcome to St. Nicholas Episcopal Church. We are delighted to have
you here for our third annual auction. Countless hours of planning and
the devotion of many have made this evening happen. The items that are
up for auction represent the wonderful talents and the efforts of many
within this parish church family. The wide diversity of both silent and
live auction items, food, beverage and music make for a fun and engaging
evening for all who are here.
It is a time for all of us to enjoy the company of old and abiding
friendships as well as the opportunity to mix and make acquaintances
and connections with new friends.
The proceeds from our auction this evening go to support the mission
and ministry of St. Nicholas Church. We are a theologically progressive
Community, steeped in the strong traditions of the Christian faith while
acknowledging that God is always opening new windows of
understanding – new ways of perceiving the presence of God in our
world and in our journey through this life. Because that is who we are,
we welcome all people wherever they may be in their journey in life. We
are a caring community living out our responsibility and ministry to one
another. But we are also aware of our place in the wider community
outside of these doors and our need to be the presence of Christ there as
well, respecting the dignity of every human being.
Again, welcome! Thank you for being here. Bid often! Have Fun!

How the Silent/Live Auction Works
The registration desk is located at the front door where participants will
receive a bidding number to use for both the Silent and Live Auctions.
Silent Auction
Silent auction items will be displayed downstairs. Each item has a bidding
sheet with a description of the article and bidding information. The
bidders write their bidding number and the amount they wish to bid on the
bidding sheets. This auction will use two types of bids: Fixed and
Competitive.
Fixed bid items are sold for a set price. You must indicate the number
of bids that you are making. For example, if the item is a dinner for 8
people, are you making a bid for 8 people, or 6 or1, etc?
In competitive bid items, you must bid higher than the previous bid.
The Silent Auction bidding will close at 7:15 PM. At 8:30, the cash out
tables will open for those not staying for the Live Auction. Pay with cash,
check or credit card for your winning bids at the upstairs checkout table
then take the receipt downstairs to pick up your item.
Live Auction
A Live Auction is conducted by an Auctioneer, who will sell to the highest
bidder. The articles for Live Auction will be on display upstairs until the
Live Auction starts at 8:00 PM. The highest bidder can pick up the article
shortly after winning the bid, with payment by check, cash or credit card.
Check out will be at upstairs Check Out (Registration Desk).

Nicholas church unless reclaimed by the donor.
14. Each bidder assumes responsibility for understanding the auction process. It is expected
that buyers and sellers of goods and services are acting in good faith and that they will
work together to arrange for delivery. Auction participants agree to hold St. Nicholas
Episcopal Church harmless from any liability.
15. Hopefully there will be no disputes. If there is an issue this evening, please contact the

"To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us -and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every
moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him." Thomas Merton (Thoughts on Solitude)
Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the
seeds that you plant.

The Greek word for fish is "ixthus" or "icthus." The Christian fish symbol that many Christians
place on their cars is known as the “ixthus.” Five Greek letters form the word “ixthus,” and those
letters inside the fish form an acrostic which is a message that Christians clearly identified with.
The first letter represented the word Jesus. The second letter represented the word Christ, the next
two, God Son, and the final letter represented the word Savior. This adds up to “Jesus Christ is
God’s Son, the Savior.”
During the early days of Christianity, Christians were often put to death for practicing their faith, so
they worshiped in secret places. A fish painted on the outside door of a house let other Christians
know that they would be safe and welcome inside. The Christian fish symbol is now often used to
identify Christians and/or Christian businesses.
ΙΧΘΥΣ (Ichthys) is an acronym/acrostic[4] for "Ίησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ", (Iēsous
Christos, Theou Yios, Sōtēr), which translates into English as "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior".
