PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
1. PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION
1
2
The 4560 should be installed by a qualified service technician.
Note: The packing material should be disposed of properly.
To obtain the best possible results, this machine should be used in conjunction with
a dedicated AC power line at one of the following ratings:
230-240 V, 50/60 Hz, 8 A
Notes:
1. The use of other appliances or other equipment on the same line as this machine may
adversely affect performance and copy quality.
2. Be sure to use a 3-conductor, grounded wall outlet.
3. In areas where a 2-pin plug is used, the machine must be grounded for safety.
Never ground it to a gas pipe, a water pipe, or any other object not suitable for grounding.
3
4
*
Select a suitable place for installation. Avoid excessive heat, dust, vibration and direct
sunlight. Also, provide proper ventilation as the copier emits a slight amount of ozone.
To insure optimal operation, allow clearances of at least 80 cm (32”) on the left, 80 cm
(32”) on the right and 10 cm (4”) in the rear.
When an optional sorter is
attached, a distance of
approx. 1m 35 cm is required.
When an optional
**large
capacity feeder
is attached, a distance
of approx. 1m is
required.
The machine should be located near an easily accessible wall outlet.

2. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
1
Handle and use the machine gently and carefully.
● Do not place heavy objects on the copy-receiving tray, original feed tray or sorter.
Caution: Do not push the sorter or put heavy objects on it. Doing so may knock over the sorter
causing personal injury.
● Never allow the power cable to be trampled on or pinched between hard objects, otherwise
an accident or electrical trouble might occur.
● Do not allow any metal things such as paper clips to fall into the machine.
● Periodically check to ensure the power-cord plug is securely inserted in the wall outlet.
● Do not disassemble the copier or try to repair it yourself other than as instructed in this
operator’s manual. Call your sales or service representative for all necessary repairs.
Incorrect reassembly can cause electrical hazards and possible damage to the copier.
● Do not touch the fuser area of this copier. This area is very hot.
● Avoid direct viewing of the exposure lights. It is recommended that the original cover or
automatic document feeder be kept closed.
● If you intend to move or relocate this copier, contact your sales or service representative.
Do not attempt to relocate the copier on your own.
● Do not tamper with interlock switches. Interlock switches are provided to ensure that the
copier will not operate with covers opened.
2
Be sure to turn OFF the power switch:
● When you leave your office at night.
● If a power failure occurs.
Caution: When turning OFF the power switch, be sure to do so after the machine cycling
has come to a complete stop.
If any paper has misfed in the machine, be sure to remove it before turning OFF the power
switch.
Be sure to disconnect the power-cord plug:
● When you do not intend to use the machine for an extended period of time.
Be sure to turn OFF the power switch, unplug this copier from the wall outlet
immediately and call for service:
● If an unusual noise is heard from the machine.
● If the outside of the machine becomes unusually hot.
● If any part of this copier is damaged, or if it has been dropped.
● If the copier has been exposed to rain or liquid.

6
It is recommended that only supplies made or designated by Toshiba be used for the
4560 in order to optimize copy quality. All supplies should be stored in a cool, dry area.
For optimum performance, it is recommended that 80 g/m2 xerographic bond paper of high
quality be used.
Paper of lower quality may contain inherent properties such as excess paper dust and may
lead to premature servicing.
Do not use supplies or cleaning materials for purposes other than what they were intended.
Keep all supplies and materials out of reach of children.

menu, the copier goes into the 2 in 1 mode, feeding in the originals two at a time and causing
them to be copied onto a single sheet of paper.
There are three kinds of modes available if you select APS, AMS or a reproduction ratio in
conjunction with the 2 in 1 mode, as described below:
● AMS/2 in 1 mode — With the AMS lamp on (this is the default mode), two A4 (or B5) sized
originals will be copied onto a single sheet of A4 (or B5) sized paper.
● APS/2 in 1 mode — When the APS lamp is turned on, two A4 (or B5) sized originals will be
copied onto a single sheet of A3 (or B4) sized paper.
● Reproduction-ratio selectable 2 in 1 mode — When both APS and AMS lamps are turned
off, two originals will be copied onto a single sheet of A4 (or B5) sized paper at the reproduction
ratio selected.
SPECIAL
FUNCTIONS

∗∗∗∗∗∗
The telephone number of your service technician will be displayed. Note it down, then turn the
power switch off and immediately call service for assistance.
Caution:
Since heaters are used to fix toner images to the copy paper, a safety circuit is incorporated in
this copier. After you turn on the power switch, if a certain temperature is not attained within a
certain period of time, the safety circuit, assuming that something abnormal has happened,
causes the operation of the copier to stop and shows the telephone number of your service
technician on the panel This can possibly occur when the temperature is low but is not a
malfunction. If it does occur, turn the power switch off and then on again. Repeat this procedure
twice and if the problem still persists, turn off the power switch and call for service.
11. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
The following message might appear on the message display:

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Toshiba copiers are manufactured to the highest technical standards, using quality parts and
components, and are designed to meet all electrical safety and environmental requirements.
To ensure that optimum levels of performance and reliability are maintained, we strongly advise
that your machine receives regular visits for Preventative Maintenance at the copy intervals
prescribed by Toshiba, which are:
160,000 copies Main Service
On models which incorporate a periodic maintenance message “TIME FOR PERIODIC
MAINTENANCE” on the message display, this message will notify you that preventative
maintenance has become necessary, when pre-programmed by your dealer technician.
To ensure that the aforementioned quality standards are maintained, we strongly recommend
that only Original Toshiba supplies and parts are used in your copier.
How to affix the PM labels
The labels have to be replaced by Service Technicians at the time of setup and each
PM time.
To Service Technicians:
At the time of set up and each PM, fill in the appropriate label with the current Total Counter
reading, the date and your signature, then peel off and affix the upper parts of next PM sticker
to the copier as shown.
