Alpine history
IT ALL STARTED IN A SMALL SHOP south of Alpine Alpa Cheese House
where our first storage barns were built one winter many years ago. By the end
of the year, our founder-Mose Miller-realized the need for storage buildings
and in 1981 Alpine Structures was born. Since we were located in the Alpine
area, we chose the name Alpine Structures, and 3 years later we built a new
shop several miles down the road at our present location in Winesburg, Ohio
on State Route 62. Alpine Structures is innovative and always looking for
ways to better meet customers’ needs. That’s why Alpine Structures was the
first company in Holmes County to construct buildings on the customer’s
created equal. At Alpine Structures, we have learned what products assure
structural integrity and increase our customers’ property value. For many
years plywood was considered the best option for building storage units
because it did a good job and looked nice. At the time, OSB (Orient Strand
Board) was in development but was thought to be an inferior product.
Over the years, plywood quality deteriorated drastically and has given us
serious problems due to warping between the rafters. But in recent years,
OSB has vastly improved in performance. That’s why we have made it our
standard roof sheathing. Some may not care for the look of the OSB, but
as a sheathing product it outperforms plywood while giving our customers
a building with superior roof sheathing that’s designed to stay true. As we
continue to grow, Alpine Structures remains dedicated to providing highquality products with excellent customer service. Our success is credited

good as it can be. Some consumers
have questions when they see oriented
strand board (OSB) being installed in
their home. Customers feel like they are
getting a lower quality product, or that
their contractor is trying to pull something over them. You need not worry; in
most application OSB has a comparable
quality to plywood.

compressing and gluing small pieces of wood together.

Plywood is made from thin sheets of veneer that are
peeled off a log. Picture a giant pencil sharpener.
These sheets are laminated together in a hot press to
make plywood.

OSB is made from wood ground into thin wood
strands. These strands are mixed
with wax and
adhesive and then hot pressed. Approximately 50
layers of strands make one sheet of OSB.

clear and free of patches and repairs. It’s easy to paint, and can withstand exposure to
the elements. Duratemp® is manufactured with a strong plywood veneer inner core
that is made of western softwood veneer and a fully water resistant (NAUF) phenolic
resin. The surface is a tough hardboard face that won’t split, crack or check — even
with rough treatment. The plywood core is easy to handle and install yet stronger
